Winter, Week 6 —the Season of Coats and Socks and Pants and Gloves —Sunday, January 28, 2024

Winter, ah how each day drags

I do rather draw the line at giving up too many of my summer clothes. 🙂

Yes, my feet are hot!  Cold feet I really don’t have,

although, snow will make me wear socks 🙂

And, even though, the songbirds are visiting those of you in the south—at least I have the Sandhill Cranes and the Canadian Geese.

Which really helps…yes it does!

Swaddled in a Bit of Color —- Thursday, January 25, 2024

Back in the time— not so long ago

There was GREEN!

And warmer days

Even now the world is full of news

But before when there was green, there were lots of leaves to run around in that aren’t all matted down.

Yep, Mom and I love Spring, Summer, and Fall colors!

Winter’s colors are a tad drab.

Just Hang’n on the Farm —Wednesday, January 24, 2024

These birds are HUGE—They stand 5 feet tall and are one of the oldest bird species in the world.

And very shy—I have to be more than careful to get a photo of them.  If they see me (or the dog) even flicker in their eyesight they all lift up as one and fly away!

I just love having them here.  I used to call them as they passed us by in years past: “You are WELCOME here!  Just land! Please!  Please come!”

Thankfully they are here now!

YAY!

We are Gifted, Tuesday, January 23, 2025

The Sandhill Cranes have gifted us with their delightful presence!

I feel so prosperous having these huge (they are five feet tall) birds living all around us in the fields.

YAY!!!

A Rush of the Wild — Monday, January 22, 2024

While doing my ironing I saw a bit of the sky’s wildness land in the yard in front of me.

Beautiful!  Just Beautiful!

BUT———————————-

The girls were out and about having a good time in the yard.  I shooed them into the hen house until I was sure that beautiful creature had left for another spot on the farm. 🙂

Winter! Week 5, Sunday, January 21, 2024

I have a very messy yard…winter is always the worst.

It’s because I love feeding the birds.

knowing that the bugs have a warm place to hang out over the winter; and can emerge come Spring—is a very good thing to me. 🙂

I never cut back the flower stalks…there is so much food there for the birds. PLUS!  The Lacewings, LadyBugs, Parasitic Wasps; and Native Bees winter in the stems of the now-dead flowering plants.

I even have a brush pile for birds to hide from predators and ground-living squirrels and rabbits to shelter in.

I know.

My yard is a mess—but it works for me and all those lovely creatures who share their lives in my yard and on the farm.

Winter— Week Five!  60 Days until March 19th!

Thankfully the days are growing longer!

Sunshine always makes me smile!

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-There are Things which SCARE Me, Friday, January 19, 2024

Some things scare me!

But not like things used to scare me.

I can do lots and lots of things now

Without being terrified clear to my soul

I can help Mom

And I can go do things by myself,

Without, Mom, Dad or TLC

(T’Ata and Glory are in the back with LAVEREN the wonderful Mule )

But I can’t seem to conquer my fear of BIG TALL ANIMALS!!!

I always, always, always run home and try to get in, even if Mom is still out there doing something!

Our Earth, Our Beautiful Wonderful Earth, Thursday, January 18, 2023

Sometimes I am in awe

Of the beauty of our earth, so beautiful; sturdy yet heartbreakingly easily damaged.

I stand in awe of this magnificent world we live upon!

I Love Light and Color—Wednesday, January 17, 2023

What I love about each season is

the light!  And the color of that season.

LOOK!    As the sun came up —-   a Sundog appeared!  It is right in the sky by the basketball hoop!

Colder weather heading our way.

I Am Missing Summer’s Heat—Tuesday, January 16, 2023

Boy, is it ever cold here!  4*f (-15.55c).  With real feel -1*f (-18.33c) I know that doesn’t even compare to those who live up north, but for us—it’s cold!

Oh, well, (I tell myself) it is January after all. 🙂
