Shannon’s hen hatched a tiny baby. The Mom takes it everywhere and then some. Even here way up on the perch in the hen house!
SO CUTE!!!

Smoke spreads its grey self all across the hills, dales, and valleys of our area.
Changing the light into strange colors; unusual and weird. Colors that could make the hair stand up on your neck if you thought about it much.
The smoke disturbs the sunset, albeit in a rather pretty way
Chaos
Death’s Kingdom for those in the fire’s deadly path
Smoke filling the skies spitefully
The sun, no longer bright and overwhelming,
Edged and shrouded in smoke…
Available to be seen by the naked eye.
The west so needs rain. Please pray for rain…the fires are terrible here in the west…

We have had rain!!!
Beautiful cool misty rain…although not long, nor in sheets of showers
But still, it is rain! Other places around us got more rain than we. But I will take whatever we get and feel a relief at that!
Even the little hummingbirds calmly rested on the flowers as the thunder rolled over-head
In the stillness after the storm(s) rolled through the little birds fed in the bright pearled mist
The earth not so wet we slipped as we walked along the ditch banks.
Still, the moisture in the air, the lack of smoke because of the rain was all bliss!

“The things we truly love stay with us always locked in our hearts as long as life remains.”–Josephine Baker
As I said in yesterday’s post, the grandchildren came for two days this weekend, then the two oldest went home and the youngest got to stay “ONE MORE NIGHT”!
She was more than willing to make the night water checks
We are so blessed!
Our grandson has grown so much! He helped load out hay–one hundred plus bales, and anything or everything else we might need help with–and, of course, helped Grandpa change water, even way in the dark.
I was so surprised to see that Blade has grown so tall over this summer…almost as tall as Grandpa!
Time flies if you measure it by children.

Megan found another wonderful gift from nature…
Here is what she said: “It must be my week to see wonderful things! I found a humming bird nest this morning at the farm. One baby just hatched and the rest of the eggs were so so tiny! Thought you would like to see.”
Our kids in Grand Junction, Colorado, were camping on Grand Mesa for the weekend and asked us up for Saturday.
Now who could turn down an offer like that?
Off we went, Terry, Boomer and I. Once there the kids (and their dogs) asked if we could go to Doyle Lake. Sure!
Cliff and Kimi tried out the See-Saw,
Once there the dogs took a swim…except for Boomer…he doesn’t like water. 🙂 That’s Darby heading into the lake.
Cliff took a photo of Terry and our daughter, Kimberly, Scout and the top part of Gypsy!
Then we hiked around the lake and headed back to camp for a yummy lunch and a couple of games of Dominos.
I must say it was a very nice relaxing day. A real treat!

Linda
