Winter is Whispering in the Wind—-Monday, October 16, 2023

It froze last night and

the night before

There are some blooms that have missed the killing frost

Those who succumbed are resting now

Waiting for Spring.

Winter is whispering in the wind…there is snow on the mountains surrounding us

For a few more days, possibly weeks, we will walk in the realm of the dying, the sacred ground of summer past.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

And Now I Present to You the STAR of the FARM —- Sunday, October 15, 2023

TADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The Star of the farm!

Corn!

It’s not dry yet.  When it totally dries down the ear will turn over facing the ground.

Once that happens we wait until the moisture in the corn reaches a certain point–14% or lower.  Then we harvest!

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-You Do What You Do and I’ll Do MY STUFF, Friday, October 13, 2023

I’ve been busy lately.  Hanging around outside as much as I can

I go outside at the crack of dawn, when Mom gets up

Come in around 10 for my breakfast then head right back out again

Then I don’t come in again.  (Although, I do hang out with Mom or Dad or Boo if they are out where I can see them).

Until the sun starts to set.  I’m outside so much my fur is changing colors to a very dark brown.

FALL!

It is my FAVORITEST TIME OF THE YEAR!  YEOW!!!!

Through a Dirty Windshield, Thursday, October 12, 2023

Off we went with Brett and Mariann on a wee trip

Over Owl Creek Pass heading into the SawTooth Mountain Range

It was a perfect day

Full of warmth, color, good friends, and

Stunning tunnels of gold.

We traveled to the Silver Jack Reservoir

Then onto Sero Summit

Our eyes full of colors

And wonderful smells for the doggie’s noses. (Boo Berry went, and their two dogs, Abbie and Shelby)

What a marvelous day for all

Even Though—Wednesday, October 11, 2023

We had rain a while back

We are very dry again

A quick, heavy shower to settle all the dust and maybe make some mud would be nice.

And a rainbow!  We need another rainbow! 🙂

Just say’n!

The Perect Art of Homecoming —- Tuesday, October 10, 2023

Friday night, September 6th was Delta’s Homecoming.

Senior Royalty

Senior Attendent

Terry and the beautiful Junior

Sophmore

Freshman

And because the school wanted a wee car show—Janet brought her car

And Sam came with his roadster. (I got to ride back in the roadster instead of walking the football field several times taking photos–which was neat!)

A Delightful bit of fun for everyone!

Holding Your Breath — Monday, October 9, 2023

There are still a few farmers getting in onions, and pinto beans….maybe some who have a fourth cutting of hay drying on the ground. (We never go for a fourth, but let the plants have as much growth as possible to go into the winter.)

But for us and many, many others we are in that spot of time waiting for the corn to dry down.

Irrigation is Finished for the Year—Thursday, October 5, 2023

The moving and changing of water is over for the year.  Now we wait for the corn to dry down

Each day the stalks, the leaves, the tops, and the ears turn drier and drier.

We are in a time of not so much work; a reprieve from too much work.

Which is a lovely place to be.
