The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Halloween

Well…what is there to say?  It’s been hard.  Life without my Bestest Friend in the Whole Wide World, Fuzzy.   I sometimes sit right in front of Mom and whine to her that it is hard.  I put up my paw and kinda paw at the air so Mom will understand what I’m trying to say.  She always reaches down and gives me a big hug and lots of pettings.

It helps…sorta.

Friday, the day after….the day after Fuzzy talked to me about Life and he said good-bye…was a very long day.

I lay on the steps, put my head between my paws and sighed huge deep sighs.  Dad came in from working on the corn combine and told Mom that I was having a hard time.  He then asked me to come in and hang with Mom, since Mom was also having a hard time.

It helped…sorta.

Then Mom got a call from Shannon.  I heard Mom telling Shannon I was super depressed.  (Boy was that correct!)  After a while Mom got off the phone and came over and sat by me and just petted me.  It felt really good.

“Wait! I have an idea, Boomer” I just remembered something from your first Halloween here….hang on I’ll be right back.  Out she went to the tile house…Now this sounded interesting so I followed her out the back door and into the tile house, where Mom was rummaging around in some of her big boxes out there.

“Here it is! Let’s go back inside, Boomer, and put this on.

Outfit-2I think you are going to dress up for Halloween and go for a ride!”

Dad laughed…  “Look he seems to like it!”

I did it was a fun thing to do!

While I was sorta dancing around so Mom and Dad and the cats could get a good look at me we heard Shannon and her dog pack coming down the drive way!

Outfit

OH! GOODIE!  THE DOG COUSINS ARE HERE!  I barreled out of the house and set up a loud welcoming bay!!!!

Halloween-1

They were all here and THEY HAD ON COSTUMES ALSO!  (That is me baying at Rocky–see if you can pick me out in the other photos…I didn’t move from this spot)

Halloween-2

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Shannon asked if Mom and I would like to go for a dog ride and dog walk!  YES!!! I hollered.

Up I went into the back with the rest of the pack—four hunting dogs and two Rottweilers!

Halloween-3

(OH!  I forgot about those annoying puppies….right in your face, licking and licking and baying and hollering and climbing on me————–IT WAS A BLAST!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sqXTglhoDg&feature=youtu.be

They also kept jumping out the truck and Shannon kept putting them back in and then they would jump out again….IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!)

Then we went for a short ride and fun run/sniff/walk it was delightful.

Only-one

Mom and I have been going all sorts of places together, always together.  She says we really need each other right now.

I agree.  (Although, there has been tons of people here, Mom makes sure I’m okay. Sometimes I have bad dreams in my sleep and hallooooooooooo for Mom.  She comes.  I try to tell her I miss Fuzzy that I dream he leaves me.  Then I wake up and I realize it’s true.  Sure is sad.)

Hummm-what's-down-there

Otherwise Mom and I are taking it one day at a time; just like Fuzzy said to do.  Sigh!

We are going to make it…the dog cousins’ help, and going for walks with Mom helps and going everywhere I can with Mom helps.  Just one day at a time.

One day at a time.

October Irrigation — Tuesday, October 28, 2014

October-Irrigation-4We started the irrigation water back up.  The alfalfa field was just too dry to make it through the winter.

1Early morning and every evening is very cold here, although it is warming up some in the afternoon.

Yesterday was horrible with wind and cold and just plain nasty.

Oct-Irrigation-3Boomer thought he was going to freeze to death so I took off one of my jackets so he could warm up.

StormThe storm blew on by and left us with another killing frost—no ice on the running water though.

Oct-IrrigationTerry had the corn tested yesterday one field was 18 and all the others at 19.  We have a long ways to go to get to 14 moisture content.  If this cold stays we might get there in two weeks or so.

Two weeks will give me a nice amount of time…I’m just about done painting INSIDE the house.  I have the trim/cabinets/doors in the kitchen and the ceiling in the Dining Room.  I dread that ceiling as it’s very tall, that is why I keep putting it off.  Still I should be able to get to it either today or tomorrow.  YIPPEE!

Then I can start on the trim outside and the fences.

Once the corn is harvested we will have to work on getting all the fences on the place cow/calf proof so Mr. Davis’ cows can come to the Brown Nursery.  I call our place the Brown Nursery since all the spring’n heifers (first year to calf) calve out on our place.  They were babies here two years ago so they are delighted to arrive back.  Lots of kicking up of heels and running when they first come in—then they wander everywhere checking out to see what has changed.  It takes them about three days to settle down to the place they want to graze first.  I always enjoy having them here.

DIp

But first………..there is the house to finish and the trim and fences to fix.  Oh, and the corn to harvest!  (and the irrigation water to change until the ditch is shut off on Saturday).

Linda

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—GO!

YIPPEE!   WHOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!  We finally got to go with Mom to the other house!

At-the-other-house

(this is the other house)

I was sure afraid that Fuzzy and I would never ever get to go again.  Mom said I was naughty the last time I was down there—naughty only in her mind…that really yucky smelly dead thing was just perfect for a good roll and rub, but she didn’t see it that way.

Then she banished me from EVER going down to the other house ever again!

I think she really meant it too.  She and Dad went down there tons of times and just left Fuzzy and I here.  So I started trying to win Mom over…

YAY

I would do the Beagle Prance and walk ahead of her to the pick-up…nope didn’t work.  Then I would follow her to the pick-up and look at her with pleading Beagle eyes…nothing.  She just looked at me and shook her head no, got in and drove off.

HurryThen I talked Fuzzy into begging…he’s pretty good at it…he just sits right by the door and politely doesn’t  let mom get in.

That didn’t work either.

After putting our heads together we decided that we would just sit on the sidewalk and look pathetic.Heading-out

AND IT WORKED!

Mom loaded us up on the four-wheeler and off we went.  I had to stay inside, but that’s okay.  We were with MOM!Going-to-other-house

After that we got to go every time…to take the vacuum and the big ladder down, or just to go watch Mom paint.  She talks to us while she paints and we listen real close.  Until Fuzzy gets sleepy then he naps.  I stay with her in the house or I would go check around and see if that yummy yucky stuff is still there.  Mom says I have to stay in the house with her.  Okay, I will, just as long as I GET TO GO!

Other-House

So far so good!

Checking My List—Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Heading-outI let the dogs go with me to the other house!  I know, I know, I said Boomer couldn’t go anymore, but ….I just felt so sorry for him….those sad beagle eyes you know.

So off we went…then while I was there he had to come inside while I worked at painting the coat closet.  He didn’t mind, although Fuzzy said he preferred sitting outside on the step in the sunshine.

This house is almost where I want it to forget it for a spell, all I have to do is mop (!) then I’m done for a time.

Rose-of-fallI also took our ballets in to the court house…there—- we have voted!  YIPPEE!!

Now we just wait to see how the vote turns out.  I really like this mail in voting…no standing in line—get your ballet- think about what you want to see happen, color in the square…put everything back in the proper envelopes, sign and date the back, then either walk it in and put it in the voting box or mail it.  DONE!

Ending-of-the-day

Tomorrow I should finish up this houses’ to-do list and maybe get closer to finished INSIDE the other house.  I would really like to get the trim and the fences done before the weather turns bad.  I would also like to be done down there, before the corn harvest starts.  I looked back over my blog and we started the 5th of November last year.  That’s not to far off now.  Although, it depends on the moisture of the corn…one year we were clear to Christmas before we got done, not being able to start until after Thanksgiving.  I sure hope we don’t have another year like that!

With joy in my heart and a song on my lips–the list is shortening every day!

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—Boomer Turns Nine

UpBoomer is nine (9) NINE YEARS OLD this month! He has lived with me, er us, for four years now!  I just think that is the best thing ever!!!

EVER!!!

IgnoreBut the bad thing is Boomer isn’t feeling good.  He’s been having ear problems since the Cheat Grass went to seed.  He even had to have his ear washed out and lots and lots of medicine.

Mom took Boom to the Vet yesterday and had to have a whole new round of ‘stuff’.

Sigh!

I told Boom, we were a pair, him and I.  I can’t walk very well because of my back legs and he doesn’t walk very well because he is always shaking his head.

Hopefully the medicine take effect quickly and this time Boomer gets well.  Feeling good is a very nice thing.

Sleep-3It’s been raining here and cold.  When Mom and Dad are home and not down at Misty’s old house we ALL STAY INSIDE BY THE FIRE!!!!

It’s a very nice thing.

Sleep-1

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT IS THE NICEST?!?!

Watching the cats!

Wakng-up

HAHAHAH  Sharing is not their strong suit!

Doing stuff like that gets them put outside Fast.

You would think they would learn!

Silly fur balls!

My-Wonderful-Fuzz

Boomer and I just laugh at them!

Fuzzy

New Dog on the Farm

We didn’t pick him.

Somebody dumped him off.   He was so hungry he went into the skunk trap and

bam…

We now have another dog…He looks to be around 5-7 years old, a purebred Beagle, nutered, house trained (loves to sleep on furniture—but THAT is NOT going to happen), and has good hips.

He and Fuzzy get along, Fuzzy who really doesn’t like any other dog—ever.

So Fuzzy has a new pal and (I can’t seem to think of a good name) has a new home.

Sigh!
