The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer on Friday — Out for a Ride

Our snow didn’t last very long.  Well, let me rephrase that…the sky snowed all day and part of the night, but the next day warmed up to 35* so it all melted.  (—except for the stuff that was left from December and is frozen solid to the ground!)

Then the temperatures dropped back down to around 28-30*.  Cold enough Boomer and I stayed inside most of the time.

Mom said she was getting cabin fever so we all had to go outside.

Darn it.

I like just lying around and sleeping by the fire.

Boomer sleeps right next to the fire, but I don’t.  I sleep on the back porch where it’s cool enough I don’t start panting and Mom makes me go outside to cool down.  For the record, if Boomer starts panting he has to go outside also.

Anyhoo, Mom was feeling house bound so we all took off for a ride on the open fields.  I ride with Mom.  It’s hard to jump up anymore, but Mom lifts me up and away we go.

Boomer loves to run, so he gets to run.

Everything was ever so much fun!

When we got back, Dad had company.  The neighbor down the road had ridden his four-wheeler over and his dog, Pepper came with him.

I hope Dad doesn’t see what Pepper did…Pepper will get really yelled at.

This is Boomer, Dad won’t yell at Pepper, because Pepper isn’t his dog, but Dad will NOT be happy, let me tell you.  Then we dogs will get a real talking too about NOT PEEING ON THE SAME SPOT!

Sure is hard to not add our smell to Pepper’s we try really hard to wait until Dad leaves and goes someplace else and can’t see us.

I guess you know what happened when Dad when in the house.

Heheheh

Down Time —It’s Spring Time in the Rockies

The weatherman was right!

A thirty-mile-an-hour wind blew in yesterday afternoon (you are looking at field trash flinging itself all over the road, on the fences and into the next field) bringing with it a very bitter cold front.

This onion farmer was rolling the last of the field trying to push the tiny seeds down far enough into the ground the wind would not blow the seed away.  Onion seeds are TINY.  And they are only planted 3/4 of an inch into the ground.  The roller packs and settles the soil on top of the seed protecting it.

The rain started around suppertime and stopped this morning.

Farmers in the area kept going until it just got too muddy.

Then they were done.

Some worked right up until they couldn’t drive their equipment off the field….every minute helps when you have way too much to do and way too little of a window to get it done in.

Terry and Misty didn’t work yesterday.  Having worked until dark the day before getting all the ground rolled.  Terry doesn’t like to ‘move soil’ when the wind is blowing.  (Our top soil then goes “who-knows-where”).   They will start leveling once everything dries out again.

On the bright side of this little storm we should start seeing green things popping up!

Now That is a wonderful thought!

SNOW!!!!!

It started snowing as I left work for home.

And turned off cold!  Really cold so cold we had to build a fire.  We are now in for the long haul of winter.

The snow didn’t stay long, but still……

Raining, Snowing and Stuck in Traffic

Since it was raining on Sunday

We decided this was a good time to go visit Terry’s Mom and Sister and Brother-in-law

And maybe visit a John Deere dealer or two and go to a couple of farm sales

We have to travel over the Rocky Mountains to get to the eastern side of Colorado.

As we go the traffic picks up and up and up….UGH!

Signs warn us all along that the traffic into Denver is immense and to expect delays.

Boy,  were they ever right!  See the cars W.A.Y. back there.  We kept along at 8 miles an hour until after the tunnel.

We made it.  We got to have a nice evening with family and the next day took in some dealerships

And a retirement farm sale.

We got home late that night.  I am really glad to be back home.  I am NOT a city girl grandma.

If the weather holds we will begin tractor work Saturday!

I Have a New Friend

This isn’t our cow.  She belongs to a neighboring rancher who is renting the sweet corn field next to us.  She is really nice girl, comes to the fence every morning and every evening to watch me do the chores.  She is fascinated with the chickens and has been known to sniff on Sammy-Sam the cat.

Since she is a range cow, I’m sure she doesn’t have a name, but I have named her Friend.

 Cold here again.

 And snowing.

Next week is February ….winter is, hopefully, winding down.

What Happened to November?

October-Snow-001

I drove to work today in a snow storm

October-Snow-003

Goodness!  What we have gone from October right into December!  And it’s cold too.  Very cold.  BRRRRRR.

But before the kids left for New York we had a really neat opportunity to get to visit with Daryl from Haf Doz’n Reasons (Kath on my side board)

as he traveled through.

Daryl-and-the-Truck

Evan loved talking with Daryl as he used to drive truck and the grandchildren loved the truck!

KW-and-the-Kids

They were very excited to see there was a bed AND a TV in the truck.

Climbing-into-the-Truck

AND  “It’s so big, Grammy!  Watch me climb!”

Meeting blog friends is special to me.  Getting to know each of you has been a real pleasure.  You’all come by sometime, you’ll be welcome!

Wordless Wednesday (Sort of)

Rain-Drops

Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head!  And the weatherman says more is heading our way.  At least it isn’t snow. 🙂

April Fools Day Joke

spring-storm1

And I just thought we were heading into spring farm work.

March Came in Like a Lamb and is Leaving Like a Lion

Sunday we got a 65 mile an hour wind from Utah, full of dust, sticks and weeds.

Then we woke up to snow and ice this morning!  And it’s cold!  3:00 p.m. and the snow is still on the ground…brrr!  38*

Friday Photo Meme

Karen from http://www.zemeks.blogspot.com/  asked me to do a photo meme.

So here goes.

snow-at-paonia

Part of my work, requires me to travel to Paonia, Colorado on a regular basis.  Paonia is about an hour’s drive from here, and has one of the most beautiful scenery’s around.

About two weeks ago they had a lovely snow storm, that closed down the sounds and covered the trees with heavy, wet snow.  The snow had melted by the time I left for Delta, but for a short while, we had Christmas again.

That is Lamborn Mesa.

I got the photos backward, but you get the idea! 🙂
