Ah, Wind—The Bringer of Winter Storms and Cold Fronts, Thursday, January 23, 2025

It’s been cold here—just like it has been cold where you are.

Wintertime wind is the worst (to me) part of winter.  It seems to gallop through the trees causing the leaves still attached to rattle and shake—reminding us of summer past.

Brrr—it’s cold…But by tomorrow we are to warm up!

I am ready!

Now That I Am an Advanced Age — Wednesday, January 22, 2025

Now that I am an advanced age I (too) walk in the steps of those marvelous people who went before me:  Chronic, persistent feelings of —is that defeat? Depression? an underlying sadness?

So to overcome those feelings I go outside—looking for the gift that says: You are here, alive and blessed with the joy and wonder of this world.

I always come back inside, feeling warm, happy, and blessed.

Off We Go — Tuesday, January 21, 2025

It’s time— we needed to go get another load of firewood–

It’s been cold here.  Wind, skiffs of snow—Brrrrrrrrrrr.

The wood is the perfect heat for a nasty winter day!

My Momma —-Monday, January 20, 2025

My Momma loved children—she would have been an excellent elementary teacher.  Instead, she worked as a Secretary for the elementary principal.  Which was just as good.

There she is with her Daddy, three uncles, and her great-grandpa.

Anyway, one day (after she retired) she told me, in a sorrowful voice, that sometimes children’s lives are so broken that there really isn’t a way to help them.

I think of that often.  Sometimes I run into those adults who have been those very broken children.  I think you have also.

Now (as adults) they either become overly protective or abandon those they are responsible for.

Anyway, after years of farm living and farm work and being part of farm life–

I can say with strong conviction—if we treat all our animals right—they can take care of their little ones in a most loving manner.

Yep—we all strive to not break any pieces, ever.

Remember God(s) is Here—Sunday, January 19, 2025

Before I get ‘hate’ comments (by the way I will just spam them) let me explain:

If I were standing there facing you, I could/would place my hand on your heart and say to you, “God Lives Here!”

God(s) live in our hearts, filling our minds and souls with wonder.  Your God, My God,

We all can love and feel God- we just (each of us) see and understand things differently.

And That, my friends, is a very good thing.

Sometimes, Sometimes, — Thursday, January 16, 2025

As we age we realize how important it is to talk very carefully— for feelings can be hurt and destroyed by our careless acts and words.

We also understand that it’s time to forgive ourselves and set our lives free—of those painful things we wish we had done better/differently in the past. Time to stop being a prisoner of memory, fear, even disappointment—those things can’t be changed.

We can now open the window and let the sad pour out and the wonderful beautiful world pour in.

No more self-sabotaging thoughts!

Not for you.

Not for me.

Not for any of us.

2025 is a gift we get to enjoy—- each moment, each step of the way.

Spilling Thoughts, — Wednesday, January 15, 2025

In case — just a thought spilling out from my mind to you

As we travel through each and every day—

We always leave bits of ourselves wherever we go—I try to remind myself of this all the time

Reminding myself to leave hopeful feelings, if at all possible.

Just like the little birds do for us as they sing their daily songs.

Just as your beautiful comments leave me feeling uplifted and grateful!

Around the Corner We Go— Tuesday, January 14, 2025

Thankfully I am making excellent progress in the twenty days of pain and sickness.  I can carry a few logs, walk carefully, and actually see results when I look at my ankle, foot, and leg.  YAY!

Today is a masterpiece!  Today I turn 76 and the illness didn’t crush me!

Ideas for 2025—Monday, January 13, 2025

Ideas have flickered in and out of my thoughts for 2025

What would I like to get done this year?  Are there any projects waiting for me to finally finish up?  Do we (Terry and I) want to take a wee trip here and there to see something new and/or different?

Then I go outside and sit on the bench watching the stars and planets spinning quietly in the sky.

And I think—maybe just enjoying the fragrance of each and every night is enough. The beauty of the day is perfect as it is.  No matter what has been accomplished or what has been left undone.

Maybe the rest of my life is more like a bouquet of flowers instead of a list of chores.
