A Mercedes Benz in Our Drive Way—Tuesday, August 22, 2016

Elaine-and-BobThis weekend Terry and I received company of the most delightful kind.  Bob and Elaine– long-time blog friends– drove over from the Black Forest, Colorado for an overnight visit

I fixed parmesan chicken, fresh corn on the cob, and tossed salad, with store bought ice cream on a stick for desert!  Then we sat around and talked and talked and talked, until Terry said—“Goodness, I need to go change the water”—in the dark, with just a flashlight to aid him.

The next morning we had bunch — I made Huevos Rancheros, served with huge plates of fresh fruit–cantaloupe from Rocky Ford, Colorado, (thanks to Elaine and Bob), grapes, papaya, watermelon an assortment of cheese plus coffee.

All too quickly it was time for them to leave.

I had to laugh at a go fast Mercedes Benz sitting right next to the tractor in our farm yard!

Friends and Family—they are the cream on the jug of life!

Love,

Linda

Gift from a Blog Friend—-Monday, August 22, 2016

I do believe I am one of the luckiest people in the world.  I have so many wonderful blog friends and each one of you is so amazingly generous to me!

Megan sent this to me with the following:

“Good morning Linda! I looked out my window this morning and couldn’t believe what I saw! I knew I had to send you a picture!! 🙂

From Meagan

” It was quite a feat getting my camera to focus on the web and not the garden behind it. The neighbors must have thought I was nuts hanging out the window taking pictures of who knows what 🙂

New Alfalfa Field—Sunday, August 21, 2016

New-Hay-Field-1Our new field of alfalfa has grown so well Terry decided it was time to cut it.

Normally he wouldn’t cut it until next year, but the rains and the heat and warmth all contrived to help the new little plants grow sturdy and strong.

New-Hay-FieldOur yard and the house smells like fresh mowed hay.

Now we hope and pray the rain stays away until the alfalfa has turned into hay; the hay into bales, and the bales are stacked in the hay yard!

I am so poor at taking photos of the hummingbirds, so I thought I would take a video!

They are a huge delight!

A Great Change Waiting—Tuesday, August 16, 2016

Moth

There is a feel in the air now — a feel of true fall —hovering out there, patiently waiting

Testing, testing to see if Summer will push back —

Evening-tide

The moon is almost full; filling the sky with moonshine, so brilliant the silver light reminds me of the sheerest cold of winter

On-a-limb-2We are losing the songbirds, one species at a time.  Leaving us on the wind for warmer climates.

Twilight-time-2

Still summer sings to me warming my days and early evenings; giving me time to prepare myself for winter’s dreary visit.

It Goes on for Eternity, Then It Begins Again—–Monday, August 15, 2016

We decided to go visit our daughter, son-in-law and the grandchildren last Thursday.

It was so much fun seeing where they now live and to get and visit the schools and see the town.

Park

There is a dirt bike park across a short way…just perfect for quick rides here and there.

When we got ready to go, Linkin asked, if she could come home with us.

best-friends-forever

Lucky us we also got to have her best friend come stay also.  They have been best friends from the first grade of school

Very-Best-FriendsWhen I saw this…………..I just had to take a photo!

Friends

It was just perfect.

Best Friends for ever more…they tell me.

And I believe them!

Love,

Linda

Watch with Glittering Eyes—Thursday, August 11, 2016

“Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.”–Roald Dahl

Light-in-the-sky-1

Going out to change the water last evening (just before another storm rolled in) I saw this amazing light formation.

Light-in-the-sky2

Does anyone reading this know what it might be called?  I did a search on the internet, but drew a blank.

The storm was in the west and this was in the east.

Any help will be appreciated it.

It was stunning, to say the least.

Love,

Linda

Calmness Taps me Softly—-Wednesday, August 10, 2016

Storm-CloudsComing in from the early morning irrigation…it was like looking into a dream–

Morning-RainbowA light summer rain moving away from us, fingers of light splashing across the fields, stroking the Uncompahgre Plateau…the air thick with ozone, the sky it’s very own arch of prism light.

Morning-Rainbow-2

Bird song filling the air, drowning out everything, but my pulse.

The earth, the sky, plants and water surrounding me — touching me gently.

How blessed I am!

From my world to your heart!
