Shadows Do Not Leave Prints —- Wednesday, March 17, 2021

I love how the light throws bars of shadows on the Earth

Or the marvel of the trailer’s outline

Or, if you wait long enough, the thick shadows cooling the soil

Shadows, always changing, sometimes faint, some giving on the expectancy of growth

Shadows, brightening the land

Strengthening the vividness of earth and sky

Glittering, dazzling, helping your eye

see in diamond-bright patterns.

For Just a Moment the Sun Seems to be Platinum Instead of Sheaves of Gold—Tuesday, March 16, 2021

Now that the time has changed, we are back to getting up in the dark.

And, even though, winter still whispers in the cold and frozen air.

Daylight starts slipping into night, like a dream, or more like a memory of a dream.

Making one think the Platinum light has stolen away—- that golden glimmer of dawn.

But—not for long and the gentle promise of daylight fills the land.

Work has begun.

A Buoyant Shape in the Atmosphere — Monday, March 15, 2021

Thursday evening I had gone out to bring Terry in from the fields; I walked back Watching the cheerful and energetic flocks of the Sandhill Cranes

and the gleaming  sun lowering behind the Uncompahgre Plateau

When I noticed a sudden ray of light; rainbow colors brightening the chill of the sky.

A cacophony of colors announcing a Sundog!

True to the Sundog’s prediction…Sunday we woke to a very wet skiff of snow and much, much colder weather. With a horrid cold wind.

But it didn’t last.  Not this time of year.

And it brought moisture to the dry ground. Which is all very good.

Sometimes You Can Actually See and Feel —- Sunday, March 14, 2021

The quiet and peaceful way of our lives

A wee hush that gives a sense of calm and order.

Whispering all around.

From my world to your heart,

The Adventures of Mindy on Friday—-Okay, I Can Do This, Friday, March 12, 2021

I can do this.

I really don’t want to.

I want Mom and Dad all to myself.

But….

I’m getting used to HIM.

It helps he is growing older.

By this time in my former life of having children, I would have sent all my kids off into the big wide world to have adventures by themselves.

But…no, here I am an ancient cat (I am at least nine — heading toward ten, Mom thinks) having to raise a kid!

I do pretty nice, most of the time.

Although sometimes I just have to, I MEAN HAVE TOO, swat at that boy…he gets too carried away.

So…we’ve worked it out.  I have my chairs, he has anything else, that I don’t want.

I get the whole outside.

He is terrified of the whole outside (GOOD!)

I get Mom and Dad.

He gets Mom and Dad.

I get time away from him.

He gets to know me (some).

It’s coming together, Mom says.

I suppose.

Pent-Up Energy, the Earth, the Sky, and Terry — Thursday, March 11, 2021

The wind is a tad messy right now.  🙂

But the earth is ready

And so is Terry.

Although, the wind is bringing in storm clouds

And it is rather cold.

Farming…no matter what. Once it starts, it continues on!

A Wee Walk-About — Wednesday, March 10, 2021

While the farmwork goes on

I took a wee walkabout

Looking for birds (this photo was taken when we still had snow)

The Canada Geese are leaving our area also

They rest in the evening, then lift their mighty wings into the sky come morning

Birds, I love taking photos of birds!

I can never seem to get good ones when they are resting

(Searching for dinner)

Although, I did get a ‘still’ of this Red-Shafted Flicker, while it picked up seeds at my feeder.

Getting the photo was a huge delight!

Spring work, winter birds…it won’t be long now until we start to see SPRING BIRDS!

For a Spell the World Becomes Small —- Monday, March 8, 2021

The cranes are starting to leave us

They are still landing here, resting, eating…gathering

Their distinctive calls brightening the day

For just a short while now

We will enjoy their presence

Before they move on toward Idaho

Their spring, summer, and early fall nesting sites.

Flying, higher and higher toward exciting adventures someplace wonderful.

In the Bright Early Morning — Sunday, March, 7, 2021

Among the wittering and chittering and chirping

Driving into the glow of the sun

Shadows streaming behind, or beside, or in front

Tending to the land on a daily basis has begun.
