Dream, Action, Coming True — Thursday, June 1, 2023

The cornfields are turning green

The baby corn is popping up all in a row

The last of the golden sunlight lighting up each seed

The Alfalfa fields are getting close to the first cutting of hay

And the grass/alfalfa hay field is due to be cut anytime now.

We sing daily—Rain, rain go away.

Please.

Just until all the grass hay and the alfalfa hay are stacked in the haystacks, please.

Please!

I Love Shadows — Wednesday, May 31, 2023

Blue–my favorite color mixed with Lavender/Purple

The Color of the shadows

The early morning light fills the whole farm in shadows (our house in the distance)

The golden hour mingles shadows onto the buildings

6:00 a.m. Shadows brighten the sunlight bits and pieces

A walk into the shadow is very cooling

Noon day shadows are made up of tree leaves

And great little hidden spots!

Shadows I love how they brighten the earth.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

An Era is Ending —- Sunday, May 28, 2023

When we traveled to the Uncompahgre to see the melt—we noticed that the worm fences

Where starting to fall into rack and ruin.

It’s sad to see them go, they are such a part of our farming and ranching history.

But time changes everything—

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-Something is Up, Friday May 26, 2023

Something is going on

We’ve talked about it, but we can’t figure out what

Seems like the work around here has increased

Like into over-drive increase

Mom has the house in a dust, sweep, vacuum, mop, shine, polish MESS

And Dad comes in on the tractor then leaves,

Then heads back out on the four-wheeler

They seem to be in over-drive

Then Mom is outside moving around in all her flowerbeds and mowing the lawn, etc.  in a frenzy

It’s been hard to keep up with her.

I can’t keep up either.  I heard Mom and Dad talking about something called

Graduation

And party.  I heard the word party.

Yeah!  Graduation and party here at the farm!

COMPANY!!! I better hide!

I guess I won’t.  I’ll help Mom the best I can.

Echoes of Our Day —-Thursday, May 25, 2023

Good Morning!

Off we go—early, early—-everything is planted now

Everything receives its own share of the water

Storm clouds build every afternoon—although, we have only received sprinkles so far.

Tractor work is slowing down but will build up again come haying season

A quick check at noon, to make sure all the siphon tubes are running.

Then as the summer golden hour arrives we head back out for the last set of the day

Finishing up just as the luminous violet turns into night

From our world to your heart,

Linda

Great Changes Reverberating into Rivers — Tuesday, May 23, 2023

We drove up to the Uncompahgre Plateau

To see the great changes of

Snow turning into Melt and then on to our river (The Gunnison River)

We drove to the top passing huge streams of imperial melted snow heading down, down down

Not only is the melt occurring fast, but the water is also

moving downhill in a huge HUGE rush

The snow is changing

and reverberating into a world of

mud!

And huge muddy ponds

Finally, we made it to the top

At the gravel pit lake, the earth was in a state of hushed concentration called MELT!

Everywhere one looked it was Winter turning to Spring.

Sorta like February turning into March

Patiently. Steadily. Snow into water.

Water into that life-giving force we all use.

Well, there you have it.  The Roubioux and Cottonwood Rivers; sources of roaring water—- flowing into the Gunnison River.  (Then on to the Colorado River)
