Propelled into Motion—-Thursday, April 19, 2018

I checked the pears…gone.  Most of them anyway. Once more we lost the apricots and the pears.  My lilacs are starting to bud so I hope the temperatures stay up and I can have lilac blooms.  It’s been YEARS since I’ve had any lilac blooms.

The Apple trees are starting to bloom and I noticed buds on the prune and wild plum trees.  Everything is propelling themselves into spring…turning their little hearts toward sun and warmth.

I sure hope it starts to warm up and stay that way.

The clouds came in from the west yesterday—leaving patches of blue sky and warm sun, but completely filling the air from north, south, east, and west over night.

A swoosh of cold air has arrived, although the weather people say we will warm up to 77* today, then drop down to 59* tomorrow with huge winds starting this afternoon.

Which propels me forward for Terry and I are taking a trailer of old metal up to Montrose today and we must load it first! 🙂

So off I go to help gather old engine blocks, scrap metal, and other detritus accumulating here and there.

Have a good one!

CANAL is FULL!–Thursday, April 2, 2015

Yesterday was a very busy day and full of lots of new things.

sundog.jpg

First rattle out of the box I saw a sundog or sunshine on ice crystals in the sky.  Sundogs mean cold weather is coming…and SOON!

Today is cold.  It’s supposed to get colder, then by Sunday (Easter Day) we will start another slow warm-up.

Trash-MovingAround noon the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users worker bees showed up (Ditch Riders), which meant the canal was filling up with water.  The above photo show us the HUGE amount of trash which collects in the canals over winter.

TrashAbove this tree is our ditch rider, in a backhoe, trying to take out as much of the trash as he can so the bridge will carry the water.

You can see by this photo that the trash is thinning down.

Clear-sort-ofThere clean…sorta!

Then I saw this on a blog friend’s site and thought it was cool.  I also thought all you would find it interesting  (if you don’t already know).

Sota makes a person wonder if a big change really is about to happen, doesn’t it?

We are supposed to have high winds this afternoon (to blow in the cold front) and then again on Saturday and possibly Sunday to blow out this cold front.

Off now to keep working on my yard…what a huge mess it is this year.  I hope each and everyone of you have a really nice day!

Your friend,

Linda

One Thing about Storms

They CAN produce beautiful sunsets!

It’s raining here, but the weather man says we are going to warm up this weekend.  That will be very good.  The farmers are all having trouble with the crops, too much rain (and wind), the ground is still cold, and the irrigation water has been cut back a month too early.

Oh, well…that’s how some years go.

Delta County Highlights During Year 1908

We are STILL Cold

It’s been raining for a week, I so miss the sun!  And we still are having to light a fire early in the morning to take the chill off.

I’m waiting for the snow to leave Grand Mesa….not until then will be free of chilling weather.

The Joys of Retirement from Your ‘Other’ Job

The barn is sllllooowwwlllyyy coming along.  The weather is a big factor, either it’s snowing or way too cold to get out there and ‘do something’.

The other thing is Terry is doing this alone.  Which means, if it’s too cold, why go out.

(Terry used to work as a Lineforeman for the power company (37 years)  and he still farmed.)  He says picking and choosing when you go outside is real nice, real nice!

Rainbow Snow

It’s cold here!

We started a fire in the wood stove, it’s just that cold.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac winter is going to be rough for some of us.

Sadly we seem to be jumping from almost fall right into winter.

But in the midst of the rain, wind, sleet, hail, and almost snow I saw this!

(Look real close-I forgot to enlarge it)

In spite of everything there are still rainbows.
