A Storm Playing on the Uncompahgre — Tuesday, April 8, 2025

That massive snowstorm hovered over the Uncompahgre—moving along the rims, canyons, and valleys.  It never came here, but oh my have we been cold.  Although,

Sunday the sky cleared and we got SUNSHINE and Shadows!

YAY!

THE WATER HAS COME—- Monday, April 7, 2025

They turned the water down the canal!   It rushed toward the Gunnison River; all full of winter’s weeds.

Gradually, they will turn in more, allowing farmers to start irrigating our fields.

We are getting closer to putting water on our farm.  Possibly next week!

SPRING WORK is in FULL SWING!

Repair of the Canal —- Sunday, April 6, 2025

The canal was eroding clear into our road.

A big load of broken cement and sand was delivered and an amazing backhoe operator

Created the perfect bank!

YAY!

Trouvaille—(n.)  A valuable discovery, or a lucky find; something lovely discovered by chance; a windfall.

A very polished canal bank!

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-Winter Returned, Sigh!, Friday, April 4, 2025

We had WIND!!! Lots of wind.  It made a dust like Dada is making dust.

Hurt my eyes, so I had to go into the house.

Then it started to rain—

It was hard working with Mom in the rain

Then the hard snow came. And Came. and Came.

And the temperatures dropped to 23* at night.

It gradually warmed up—-

But staying outside was HORRID!!!

My Heart is Happy—- Thursday, April 3, 2025

We had to do some pruning of the apricot trees so I saved the branches to brighten the sidewalk.

Then I looked into the sky and saw the blooms on the cottonwood tree—oh, the joy of Spring.

Yutori (Japanese) — Intentionally slowing down to simply be, breathe, listen, and appreciate the beauty of nature and life.

Consciously creating space to relax, reflect, and integrate rather than being constantly busy or rushed.

Life is so Fragile — Wednesday, April 2, 2025

Life is so fragile—yes, very fragile.  It’s hard on one’s heart when there is a death.

This is either a raccoon or a wild/domestic cat. (people are awful at dumping out their unwanted pets; this is usually what happens to them.)

Our earth would be flung into chaos if it weren’t for these ugly scavenger birds — and ravens and crows and magpies (to name a few).

Messy?  Yes.  But thankfully we have them to do all the hard nasty work.

Sigh!

Yugen–a profound awareness of the universe that triggers feelings too deep and mysterious for words. —- noun, Japanese

Tired —Lately—Tuesday, April 1, 2025

I’ve been a tad unbearably tired lately.

There has been so much to do and I sat around way too much this winter, that I’m having a bit of exhaustion.

Oh, well.  This will pass as I develop my strength back.  And while that is happening–

There is always the sky and the earth to enjoy.

Outside—A Sunspot —- Monday, March 31, 2025

It’s turned cold again.  Apricots froze— cold.  Momma always said—“When Easter is late we will always have a cold spring”.   She is so right.

Still, I love being outside….I feel alive and awake when I am.

Balanced (Or the Wish Thereof) —- Sunday, March 30, 2025

Spring, like Autumn has a tipping quality about it—

One moment its cold and the wind is blowing

Another moment is hot enough that you think it’s finally Summer!

Spring—YAY!  I’ll take it over winter ANY DAY!
