The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-Chapter Seven Boo Berry Tells a Story, Friday, July 11, 2025

Well, It is good things are a go after all those beginning chapters.

Now I have a cat, TLC, and he has me.

He likes to rub against my body when he comes in from outside. I really don’t know what to make of all that, so I just stand there with a dumb look on my face.

I have a DAD and MOM!

And I get to go and do stuff!!!

I’m not very good at going to BIG things with Mom and Dad, but I’m getting better at it.

People like to stop and pet me, and I like for them to do so.  But they have to be the ones to stop.  I’m not going to run out there and jump on their leg.

Riding in the car or the pick-up is disconcerting—I keep thinking I’m going to wind up at someone else’s kennel.

But I never do.

I’m gradually getting the hang of riding.  No, putting my head out the window—that is terrifying.

But I do like to sniff around once I get out.

Well, anyway, we’ve made it all the way to Now- and now I get to tell you about SQUIRREL!  Or maybe SQUIRRELS!!

Read on to Chapter 9  to learn about SQUIRRELS!

Busy. Humming while she works. Singing to me, the flower, and herself.

I sat quietly watching her work.  Listening to her song.

Contented.  She and I.  And the hollyhock.

A feel-good sort of moment.

Snapping Wasps — Thursday, July 3, 2025

It really isn’t easy!

Not like photographing the hawk

Or a bird landing in the grass

Or a cute little chipmunk

Or a very handsome buck

But it IS a tad fun to see if I can capture one on my camera.

Word of the day—Desiderium (n): an ardent desire or longing; a feeling of loss or grief for something lost

We’ve Decided to Take Wee Trips Now and Then— Wednesday, July 2, 2025

Since all work and no play make Terry and me EXHAUSTED!!! We decided to go somewhere close (a day-trip, if you will) once a week.   This time we headed to Collbran, Colorado, by the route of Grand Mesa. (Click on the blue links to learn more)

The ski resort on Grand Mesa

Still snow up there on the rims

From Collburn, we turned toward Vega State Park.  Then we turned onto a side road heading the back way to Silt, Colorado

Yep, we went by this

Back roads all the way—gravel part of the way

Then on to Silt, and after that

To Rifle, Colorado, where we stopped for a late lunch at Dickey’s Barbecue.  YUM!

Then home again, home again…ready to take on the work.

Easy Peasy, Thanks — Tuesday, July 1, 2025

A neighbor stopped by.  A rancher whose ranch connects to our farm

( photo from the archives)

“You folks be open to me buying that hay?  I’ll rake it, and bale it, and haul it.  So much a ton.”

Heck YEAH!

35 bales—1,500 pounds apiece!  A win-win for all!

(the word of the day: Nefelbata (N): ‘cloud walker’; one who lives in the clouds of their own imagination or dreams; one who does not obey the conventions of society, literature, or art.)
