The Adventures of TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-You and Me and a Dog Named Boo, July 1, 2022

Mom said I needed a dog.

Mom said she needed a dog.

Mom said Dad needed a dog.

Who would have thought?

I don’t mind dogs.  Actually, I like dogs.  All dogs any dogs.

So, guess what?!

I have a dog! Of which I am bigger.

Who would have thought?

Anyway, this is Boo Betty.  She came to Mom from a friend of hers and Dad.  Boo needed a new home.

Mom said we were dog-less.

Therefore, I now have my own dog friend (of which I am the boss) and the family has a dog and Boo Betty has US!!

(Oh, by the way, Boo Betty has chosen Dad.  I have Mom, Boo has Dad, and we all have each other!)

I Couldn’t Sleep Last Night — Wednesday, July 1, 2020

Sleep came hard last night…it seemed to avoid me

My eyes were closed, but my mind —well, I think you understand.

What caused my thoughts to shift and drift, and scream around in my head

Was the thought (or is it fear) we are in the middle of a cultural revolution.

We are in a time where we are crazily divided

There are sectional tensions and a feeling of gathering paranoia.

A feeling of not just drifting forward, but we jolting head-long–tumbling, falling, so to speak.

I woke, telling myself, I will put this out there—My thoughts need somewhere to go

A way to exhale; to stop the constant whispering at the back of my mind

So I shall write this, and let my worries, cares, and concerns dissipate

I will continue to believe in treating the earth well, the common decency of each and every person I meet, and

That common sense will bond us together. Not the squealing anger and fear

Which, randomly jumps out at us (me) now and again.

From my world to your heart,

Floating on the Wind — Monday, July 1, 2019

Here we are on the first day of July

This season is going fast…this season of warm, green things, and glowing sun

Spring, Summer, Fall always seems to speed by

The older I get the more I want to hang on to these seasons

Although for Terry, he enjoys winter the most.

So, for me, I will relish these

Wondrous warm days

With back-bending weeding, mowing of the lawn and the always, always watering

I will enjoy the tantalizing and

and seductive skies

the subtle scents the fill the days

And the nights.

From My world to Your heart,

The Languid Air of Summer —- Sunday, July 1, 2018

Our air is hot! Hot and dry.

But here we are.  The middle of summer… the Second cutting of alfalfa!

The smells in the house have been lovely.  Early morning dew on the drying hay, hot summer sun at the middle of the day, and crisp smells of sharp clean scent in the evening.

The whispering sound as Terry and I fork over the end, getting ready for the baler.

Then the rich sound of the baler…while Boomer and I move through the field making sure the bales are sitting on their sides for the stack wagon.

A very hot and BORED beagle riding behind me.  He makes it for about a 1/2 hour, then after that, he is done.  Gets off and hides in the shade.

The second cutting of alfalfa! We are in the middle of Summer!

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Gratitude—Wednesday, July 1, 2015

It was 92* (33.33c) last night at 9:30.  But this morning it is only 86* at 9:30.

What a small joy cooling air is after too much heat.

Set-2As John Milton once said;  “Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing  us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.”

A few clouds, a small breeze, the song of the birds…a wee epiphany for this Wednesday.

Your friend,

But TWO beautiful sunsets!
I have some other great photos that have come in over the past week, but I think I’ll save them for next Tuesday.

Photo gifts from sea to shining sea!

We’ve started July!  The early summer days.  Hot weather and (continuing) hot winds!  BUT I AM NOT COMPLAINING…I know what six months down the road brings — and it isn’t just my birthday.  😦

I’ll leave you with a shot of the alfalfa field…two more weeks and it will be haying time again!

Your Western Colorado Farm Friend,
