With the Scent of a Summer Night, Comes the Dawn—-Thursday, July 14, 2016

Day-endingI am working feverishly to get everything caught up.   For you see, we have company coming.  Terry’s Sister and brother-in-law will be here on Sunday, then Monday we get to have our youngest Granddaughter for THE WEEK!  And I don’t want to be cleaning, weeding, or working hard during that time.

Grain-BinsOur days are hot and over-powering in the overwhelming heat, causing sweat to run down my face as I weed, rake, fertilize, prune, trim and mow. My body slowing turning into the wind, earth and water as I melt.

Bees and wasps buzz heavily, with  gnats and mosquitoes in clouds; creating easy fodder for the swallows nesting all along the edges of our house.

Our yard is dizzy with the scents of grass, sweet white lilies, and water sprinkling on the lawn.

My weeding of the pinto bean fields are done!  I finished the two acre field last night.  From this point on we turn our heads and choose not to see the weeds, which will flourish there anyway, coming from the wind and water.

The sun breaks forth over the line of trees quickly rising to heat the day; riding on the scents of last night.

As I worked I noticed a narrow crack of stunning light showing my everything— is worth it.

jI’ve been working in my yard…weeding.

kI have company coming on Thursday.

I want to get my yard weeded and watered then I will straighten the house. I have the windows washed and the floors mopped anything other than that isn’t going to happen.

These little acts are protection against my worrying about worrying.

A bit of preservation of  the mind.

Once they have come, I will not think about those things again. Just enjoy the time together.

GoldI really am not understanding this crazy warm weather we are having…70* yesterday with a wind out of the west.

Gold-2Terry and I finished working on the fence around the place–it would not do to have cows moving beyond our farm, into someone else’s place or out on the road.

Gold-5I also worked upstairs getting ready for company.  Our kids and grandchildren are coming from Craig on Friday; they have a three day school break.

Gold-7Plus it’s Tallin’s 7th Birthday!  Tally wanted to come to Grammy’s and Grandpa’s for her birthday–‘because that is where we always celebrate our birthdays’ she said.

Golde-6You know that has her Grandpa and I very pleased!

But back to this incredible light from the sky lately…one night we were surround in rose, then last night a golden light filtered through the wind driven clouds.

Gold-3We loaded a trailer of hay as the sun started setting…during a break I rushed around taking photos to share with you.  Rose to Gold sure is amazing.

We are concerned about this extremely warm weather we are having for February, it feels more like the second week in March.  The skies (though) are showing colors of summer.  There really isn’t anything we can do about it; just sit back and enjoy and trust that good will come for all.
