TLC and I don’t like the snow.
Nope! Too wet. Too Cold!
Also, neither one of us is taller than the snow.
The birds are having a hard time, too.
Mom keeps the feeders full, but the snow covers everything up.
So out she goes to fix them….I go with her.
TLC looks at us like we are STUPID!

As I stated earlier sprigs of green still linger. A bit of a burst of joy in the sepia world of winter.
However, we do warm up nicely (42*) about 2 to 3:30 in the afternoon. But until that time—it’s cold. The wood fire feels wonderful.

I love watching the sun come up
The skylines seem to shimmer
The earth is black, the weeds streaking the edges of the earth
While the fire of the rising sun colors everything in its path.
The air seems to drift with the glowing sky
Sounds carry further in the early morning air
The God(s) have given us marvelous tools to live this life we live.
The patches of shadow, are always lit from above

While the Gods hoovered around us, and by us, and even over us
The corn harvest came to a final end, as the draining light fled the sky
Which was a good thing, because last night the clouds came in
Bringing to us chilly rain
a dripping and damp (but clean) earth
Then for a second, as the clouds parted for a wee small moment
Another Sundog glossed the clouds, simmering in rainbow colors. Quickly the clouds slid thickly over and the rains started to pour.
Our roof now echoes with the drumming of moisture.
All is well.

We got the call from the rancher the cows would come in today. Off Terry and I went to check all the fences one last time, check the fence around the other house, and the electric fence at the horse corral. After a wind sometimes big weeds get into the electric fences and cause them to short out.
It’s been a spell ( a whole year) since these cows have been here; they will be wound up and very excited searching out their new pastures…
Having the cows run through a non-working electric fence would NOT be a good thing.
After lunch, we warmed ourselves up
Splitting some firewood for the house…warmth in splitting the wood; warmth in the fireplace.
Then, as the long dark shadows started showing in the sky we headed in…satisfied everything was good to go for the house, the cows, and the farm.

Sunday well into early, early Monday morning a great wind came through…bringing with it the cold front we are now experiencing…normal December temperatures. 🙂
The destructive wind picked up all the loose corn leaves (and any other thing) moving them from fields and slamming them onto fences, trees and anything else standing secure and tall.
The whole air rippled in the force of the wind, much like a wee tornado…full of dirt, bits of this and that; causing excitement when it landed in your eyes, ears or mouth.
The gale force winds (gusts up to 40-50 m.p.h.) pushed the bruised and glowering clouds away from us…taking any moisture there might have been to some place else…not here.
Now today, with shivery weather, blue skies and calm air…we welcome in traditional winter cold! It was 10* at our house this morning. (-12.22 celsius)

The light, of late, has been just stunning.
The sky a pearlized blue like the color of an oyster’s pearl.
The air is very chilly
But the light…of that fast setting sun! That marvelous light that spreads across the land!
The clouds so beautiful I feel like I would love to reach up and touch them
First there is the golden shower of sunshine, then the spread of the pink and lavender and apricot!
For a very short time…just a moment really, I live in the center of color.
The center of the setting sun…warm, and comforted, with that burst of true joy, which always comes just before the sun is gone for another day.
