“It was June, and the world smelled of roses.  THe sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.”—Maud Hart Lovelace, Betsy-Tracy and TIb

Cultivating-CornIt has been hot here.  Very hot!  The thermometer read 106* yesterday around four o’clock in the afternoon.  And supposed to be even warmer today.

Pink-Lilies

I love the heat!  Yes!  Really I do.  Although…. walking outside is like pushing aside those heavy curtains on stages…the ones usually made of red velvet with gold trim.

Pink-HollyhocksThe air is perfumed with the incense of rose.

Good-Morning-SunshineThis morning sunrise is a visible promise of more sun-heated shadows under trees and along buildings.

Set-of-LastAs the sun set, last night, the birds and insects started falling silent—until it was

In a Cold so Cold Your Bones Hurt—Wednesday, January 27, 2016

Merri wrote me and explained that this:  Photo not mine but Paul Pluskwick’s from town he is a master at this catching the moment..he is amazing..and I am blessed to know him..Paul has shown many of us how to use our cameras……He uses light like no other….and I have the picture on my own but not this one.

I think he deserves the credit.  Paul  does not care who posts the pictures so it is fine to do that…… we all learn from his clarity and love of  Virginia Mn….so it is all our picture and it is ok to share it as you have just wanted to give you a collective view of it . Paul takes area photos  here…and I walk up there often as well and take my own\around for myself and my use too. Paul is a wonderful man and loves doing what he does and sharing with the world. He is a blessing…..Love Merri

So there you have it…Paul Pluskwick is the author of the photo.  Thank you, Plau!

We are so lucky, again, You and I!  Merri took a wee walk-about…(even though it was so cold your bones hurt).

Leaving her house to parts we will not know of, then heading back home through the park which is just across from her lovely little house; she noticed the stunning beauty of the setting sun streaming through the gazebo.

Merri's-ParkThinking I (and you) might enjoy this ethereal light she graciously sent it on to me.

For those of you who have asked, Merri does not have blog.  I wish she did. But lucky us, she allows me to post her photos on my blog for all of us to enjoy.

With much love, Merri…for sharing with us your world in Minnesota!

As always your friend,

Linda

The Magic Light of Mingled Dusk and Sun Fire—Wednesday, August 12, 2015

;Last night we loaded Boomer into the back of the pick-up and headed toward Olathe, Colorado.

The evening ride was a brief enchantment from the daily activities.

124

We were driving toward a storm; rain chutes reflecting the setting suns’ rays.

Then the dark clouds washed over us, pushed along by strong winds

121 As we drew closer to our destination HOPE sprung across the heavens in brilliant 122shades of a massive rainbow.

125

Stopping we put Boomer in the front with us, for giant drops of rains were starting to descend.  (He was one very glad dog to be sitting on my lap, nose stuck out the rolled down window.  A huge doggie smile upon his face.)

The drive home was in the middle of the storm, lightening, thunder and at times rain coming so hard and fast we couldn’t see the road. SunlightThis morning the air is moving gently over us, hinting at the first cool touches of late September.

Linda

Moving Along-Harvest-Sunday, September 7, 2014

Friday and Saturday were super busy!

Blading-the-beansTerry got the pinto beans bladed and

Bladed-Beans placed in nice fluffy rows to dry.  We are still holding our breath that the rains stay away…(OH! PLEASE STAY AWAY!  Just until the pinto beans are in the Beanery!)  It might be like wishing in the wind

Storm

since we can see storms moving all around us.

Hay-1Terry has all the hay baled and part of the field in the hay yard…this afternoon should see every last bale stacked and ready for sale. (Fingers crossed)

You can see the storms playing on Grand Mesa in this photo.

Everything seems like a ‘race against the weather’ this time of year.

Pink-2I’ve got part of the fence scraped and brushed ready to paint down at the other house and I even have all but the two biggest flower beds weeded in my yard.  Sure feels good to start getting caught back up.

Tuesday and Wednesday Misty will be back for some training she needs for her new job, Linkin has asked to come with her.  It will mean missing two days of school.  Linkin is a very good student, so I think she will get to come with her mother.  It will nice to have that ten-year-old here again.  Her Grandpa has bought her a neat surprise.  He will give it to her at this point, if she comes.  Otherwise it will wait until a later, or even much later date.

BFFMaybe Linkin’s Best Friend can come out after school on Tuesday and stay for supper. I’ll ask Misty and Ellie’s Mom.  Hopefully she can.

MBSToday we only do what we must do…a day of rest.  Makes the week go faster.

Your friend,

Linda

What Is This?

Late last evening as we were finishing up the last set of water I happened to glance into the sky and saw this

It must be some sort of reflection of the setting sun on the near-by clouds, for sure it wasn’t a rainbow.

Rainbows occur with the sun behind you and the rain clouds before you.  But this was next too the sun, both of them in the west.

If we were in the months of either January or February I would say it was a sun dog, but this is August.

The sky is so amazing…many thing of wonder are in the heavens just like down here on the earth.  You just have to look for them.

Have a wonderful Sunday,

Linda
