This is not a painting, but a photo at just the right moment in time.
A gift, most rare and beautiful.
From my world to your heart,
Linda
All us Summer folks, the Summer Songbirds, the bees, the flowers, and me
Not to mention the trees
Are feeling like we made the turn
The turn into Fall, or Autumn, or the dying of Summer, after all our rain.
The leaves are starting to turn
The air is a tad cooler in the early morning
It got down to 42*f (5.5c) the day of our largest rain
50*f (10c) Saturday morning
The sky is sometimes blue, then filling with smoke again, followed by random showers of rain.
Although I like (Spring) and Autumn— I love Summer!
Terry says this cooler weather
Is just PERFECT! 🙂

The Blue Skies came back…Blue Skies in the middle of the sky, which was ever so lovely
The conditioner on the swather broke–the conditioner is where the cut alfalfa is rolled up to crip the stems (so they can dry) and then gathered together to lay in lovely neat rows for the baler.
So, I was helping Terry move the conditioner to the shop where he could repair it
when I looked down and saw a rock the tractor just drove over.
It was a HEART! The tractor broke it! Sometimes the load is just too heavy, even for a rock.
It is now home in my Rock Garden, put together (sorta) resting with all the hearts I have living there.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
I have been a tad depressed, or anxious, or something lately
I have finally decided it is because of the smoke enveloping everything
Although, the wind does thin the smoke randomly giving us a taste of Blue
The smoke is still there engulfing us randomly
It was while we were up at the Upper End, I looked down at a most unusual Rock
It was a heart!
The Earth, our farm, the Universe telling me–Don’t dispair, All is not lost, joy has not vanished.
I brought it home to live with my other ‘found’ hearts. 🙂
Sometimes we need little reminders, don’t we?
From my world to your heart,
Linda
Skies like these are a distant memory, anymore
This is what our skies look like
Most of the time…smoke sinking into each and everything
Sometimes a tad worse than other times
Once in a while, a slight breeze lightens the smoke
But, more often than not, the sun is stained dazzlingly red, red, red
As it sinks below the edge of the Uncompahgre Plateau.
We so need rain.
As does every place else in the dry, combusting west.
Sigh,
From my world to your heart,
Linda
It is ever so much fun to open my email and find a wee gift:
“Hello!
“People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present, and the future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”—Albert Einstein reflecting on the death of his friend Michele Besso
Mom took me on her lap and started petting me, I began to purr, LOUD, just for Mom.
Mom said I know Mindy Lou-Sue, my wonderful Min-Min, was teaching you about our way of life. I guess I should try and pick up where she left off.
So, while I purred; Mom petted me, she told me about the Business of Farming.
Mom told me that ranches are mostly grasslands for cows and sheep and horses and mules and… and farms raise crops.
Ranchers raise animals for meat and farmers raise crops that feed and clothe animals, including human animals.
Dogs and Cats, (purr, hum, purr) are important parts of farms. And ranches, Mom explained.
Dogs help ‘work’ on the farm and help ranchers take care of the animals on a ranch. Here on our farm, when Mom and Dad had dogs (Mom stopped and sighed.) The dogs went everywhere with us and helped irrigate.
I CAN GO! I stopped purring and stood up; looking Mom right in the eye. I can help.
Mom smiled and turned me back around and sat me down so I could get more scratches and pets.
Kitties, of which you are one, Mom said, all the while petting me, as the keeper of the farmyard/ or if the kitty lives on a ranch, the ranch yard.
Kitties keep the mice away from the house, the barns the work sheds, the grain bins, everything.
Kitties are a very important part of making a farm or ranch run smooth.
I got up again and gave Mom a head butt and a lick on her cheek.
Then I jumped down, stretched, fluffed my tail, and strutted off.
We, Cats, ARE very important!
Mom is so right!
Now, I have ‘stuff’ to do, important Stuff!
