Peaceful, Always Peaceful—Thursday, December10, 2020

The farm has a peaceful feeling.  The cows calmly feeding

The early morning sky gradually drying the glistening frost

The only true sounds which MIGHT be cacophonous — the large winter birds in the sky

I, actually, love hearing them calling to each other — I always call to them myself, inviting them to stay with us.  They would be safe here.  The cows would protect them.

They are beams of brilliant color and sounds rippling through the air

Peaceful…the light dwindling into a dim afterglow

A secret formula of magic spoken to us from God

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Elf Bolt, Wraith Stone, Eagle Stone, Snake Stone, NOT — Wednesday, December 9, 2020

I had just locked the gate —the one which keeps the cows on their side of the fence

Following Terry in the pick-up with our last load of cut firewood for the day,

When, I looked down, did a double-take, took out my camera

For I had found another, wee gift from the earth.

No, it was not an Elf Bolt, nor a snake stone,

Nor was it a wraith stone  (The Wraith Stone is an ancient artifact that was discovered by Amanda Evert. It was used by her to save her life when she was trapped inside a tomb in Paraíso, .— Raiders of the Lost Ark)

Nor was it an Eagle Stone

My heart was beating fast…I flipped it over it stayed a heart.

A wonderful jolt of love from the Earth to me and to you.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Not to be Used in a Crackling Fire—Tuesday, December 8, 2020

As we moved through the pile of logs, cutting, loading cutting, rolling the big ones out the way

So we could split them.  I noticed (when I took off that Aspen log sitting on top of that HUGE pine stump)

That it was a HEART!

Terry said he would cut it into manageable pieces —-two for sure, maybe three

After which, I will load up and haul to my gardens where it will grace our yard through the long and bitterly cold winter, into the thick and lush Spring and Summer and its elegance will enhance the brilliant Autumn days.

A Heart Log!

A special gift!

What We Have Been Doing — Monday, December 7, 2020

Remember this?

Three times a day—once in the morning

Two times in the afternoon

We cut

Split

Stack

Cut

Haul from the pile to the pile

It’s starting to go down.

And we have help!

(2/3s to go.  A little bit every day. Until done.)

The Day was Fading — Sunday, December 6, 2020

The day was sliding toward evening when I saw this amazing gift.

A hawk flying over-head its shadow gifted on the shed door!

On a Day When the Stars Seemed to Wheel in Place —- Thursday, December 3, 2020

My thoughts and feelings were like a wind storm full of snow.  Then —–

I opened my email to this!

Linda,

I thought of you when I saw this rainbow while we were out birding, and I thought you might need one with all that is going on these days.

Take care,
Marianne

So there on her soft rainy day, a gift to me, and to you, appeared.

Thank you so much, Marianne

I always love a Rainbow! 🙂

From my world to your heart,

Linda

It Has Been a Strange Sad Year—Wednesday, December 2, 2020

Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed by this whole awful year

I head out onto the land looking for things

Which fill my soul with a velvety quiet

Watching for the dense and deep quiet

That is almost sacred…

Watching for the ripple in the air which signifies delight

Joy

A buoyant ripple

More than peace, happiness

Beauty untold.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

In Frost-Bright, Star-Filled Moonlit, Early Morning — Monday, November 30, 2020

The coyotes have been rather horrible of late

Traveling all over the whole farm in very large packs.

Not just the pack, who has decided this is their spot, but packs from on other farms, but close by.

Hanging out wherever they please. Traveling in daylight and dark.  They know no fear.

Even coming into the yard now.  I yelled at one just outside the back door two nights ago as it made rounds in the cows sleeping by the house.  Nasty creature!

They are also scary creatures.

Very Scary.

Our son-in-law, Cliff, said, “Okay, I can help out.”

Then Linkin, our oldest granddaughter, asked if she could also go with Cliff.

Plans were made to head into a dry, cold, frozen morning

Out to the Upper End, the Back Forty, and

To the point of Coyote Hill

Home again later in the morning

One down. Many more to go.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

P.S.  Yes, I know there will be those who will leave nasty comments on the hunting of the coyotes.  And NO! Coyotes do not live on ‘nuts, seeds, and berries’.  Coyotes are carnivores…coyotes eat baby calves. Coyotes eat pheasants, chickens, Quail, rabbits, ‘wild kitties’, deer, and your lovely house cat/pet, they will eat dogs and puppies…coyotes are NOT friendly helpful creatures.

So, as a warning to you, if you leave me a scathing comment, your comment will be put in spam.  Therefore, not allowing you to leave me comments.

And, yes, I am a friend…who lives on a farm, who believes in taking care of the farm and all the creatures who need the farm to live.

In the Sigh of a Night Wind—Sunday, November 29, 2020

One evening, well actually during the night

The wind blew, all the loose and wispy weeds, here and there; driving some into our yard.

Of which, I thought it would be rather interesting to see the world through the ghostly paleness of summer dried weeds.
