Pheasant—Tuesday, April 22, 2025

Isn’t he just beautiful!

He has decided to live in our yard, for some reason

Although I really would prefer he wouldn’t.

Because of this fur kid!Ā  Ā I’m afraid if the male survives TLC, the female might not, and

And foresure the wee ones would be in lots of danger.

He is so pretty!

The sunlight glows upon his feather in such a marvelous way!Ā  I guess we wait and see what comes.Ā  But I do hope he decides to move along.Ā  Away from the

Guard cat.

Aspaldiko (Basque): The euphoria and happiness felt when catching up with someone you haven’t seen in a long time.Ā

The Wind Kicked up Thursday, Friday and Saturday— Monday, April 21, 2025

Bringing with it a terrible, nasty cold front

No matter the wind and nasty cold, the irrigation had to keep on keeping on

The pears, the prunes, and the sour cherries all froze.

We have these friendly little flowers!

Boketto (Japanese): The act of gazing vacantly into the distance without thinking.Ā

Sigh! A Flood—Not of Our Making —- Thursday, April 17, 2025

Someone up above us—turned down a whole bunch of water—it washed us out — and the field above us — and the field where the canal turned onto our farms.

Too much water all at once, full of weeds and trash makes for a really mess situation.

What a mess we had and are still dealing with.

Sigh!

Oh, well.Ā  With the sun and the wind, we will gradually dry up.

Alamort (adj.) Half-dead of exhaustion.Ā

Setting up the Last—- Wednesday, April 16, 2025

Over winter the gated pipe always walks apart.Ā  Creating a crack we must take care of, come spring

There!Ā  Pulled together.

We need to set the uptake pipe, and we are good to go. Water should start flowing in this field very soon.

Fika (n.) {fee-ka} Swedish.Ā  A moment to slow down and appreciate the good things in life.

One Step Forward, Always —- Tuesday, April 15, 2025

How do we do it—we often ask each other.Ā  How do we get up and make it through the day.

One foot in front of the other—softly, steadly, always forward

Then gradually, gradually

All the work is accomplished

And the day has finished.

From our world to your heart,

Human Flourishing—and Farm Flourishing—- Monday, April 14, 2025

We got the ditches pretty cleaned out—-ready to start the water

Then we turned on the water

Cleaning the ditches as the water flows onward

Finally —- first set of the season! The light shining through the water shimmers onto the first alfalfa field.

WHEW!

A Gossamer Like Day—Sunday, April 13, 2025

The evening was just perfect last night.Ā  A slight breeze (enough for a jacket), the sun like gossamer on the earth; tangling upon Boo Berrys’ fur,Ā  new alfalfa leaves and in my hair.

Everything is so simple and beautiful! A magical moment that slides by too fast as good things seem to do.

Back home TLC greeted us—he (also) ready to go in from his perfect day. šŸ™‚
