My Momma loved children—she would have been an excellent elementary teacher. Instead, she worked as a Secretary for the elementary principal. Which was just as good.

There she is with her Daddy, three uncles, and her great-grandpa.
Anyway, one day (after she retired) she told me, in a sorrowful voice, that sometimes children’s lives are so broken that there really isn’t a way to help them.
I think of that often. Sometimes I run into those adults who have been those very broken children. I think you have also.

Now (as adults) they either become overly protective or abandon those they are responsible for.
Anyway, after years of farm living and farm work and being part of farm life–

I can say with strong conviction—if we treat all our animals right—they can take care of their little ones in a most loving manner.
Yep—we all strive to not break any pieces, ever.
