The Lights of Christmas Cheer—Thursday, December 8, 2016

houseTerry and I took a wee ride about our town of Delta, Colorado…looking at the decorated houses.  Feasting our eyes on color and charm.

The above, very small house, took the spot of Number One on our drive-about.  These people adore Christmas and the lights that bring greetings to anyone who passes their abode!

It’s lovely!

Linda

The Air Dances and Shimmers with Cold —- Tuesday, December 6, 2016

morning-with-snow-cloudsThis morning’s sunrise seemed to dance and shimmer along the eastern horizon—coloring the snow clouds, with a pirouette, of brilliant color.

on-a-walk-006So different from the brilliance of the setting sun last evening.  At that point in time the air smelt of dried corn stalks and the sharp tang of summer brushes (sagebrush, chico, and rabbit), as they each, separately cooled down their sap; making their roots warm, ever so warm to hold them through the winter.

on-a-walk-003Once more we were blessed with that amazing magical light; lighting up even the most mundane of things—common weeds.

on-a-walk-002As we walked along, Terry, Boomer, Min-Min cat and I — the air swept through last years plants—we walked on one of the farm roads watching the wind moving in the beginnings of the snow clouds

storms-004 As the darkness rose up to to meet that stunning descent of yesterday’s sun.  We walked back home, pushed along by a bitter wind. What little warmth on the land being quickly sucked up by the coming of the night.

Linda

Watching with Glittering Eyes—-Monday, December 5, 2016

light-001

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you.  Because the greatest secret are always hidden in the most unlikely places.  Those who don’t believe in magic  will never find it.”–Roald Dahl

light-002

The light, of late, has been just stunning.

more-light-001

The sky a pearlized blue like the color of an oyster’s pearl.

on-a-walk-007The air is very chilly

storms-006

But the light…of that fast setting sun!  That marvelous light that spreads across the land!

storms-007

The clouds so beautiful I feel like I would love to reach up and touch them

storms-008

First there is the golden shower of sunshine, then the spread of the pink and lavender and apricot!

For a very short time…just a moment really, I live in the center of color.

The center of the setting sun…warm, and comforted, with that burst of true joy, which always comes just before the sun is gone for another day.

From my world to your heart,

A Gift from Milan—-Sunday, December 4, 2016

Charlotte, from Milan,  sent me two photos—-that wonderful golden light—that magical light that comes (sometimes, not always) at the end of the day:

milan-and-that-special-lighHere is what she wrote: “Thought you might like to see the very
urban version of the same light. It was right in our eyes. I was blissfully blinded by it.
It’s been raining hard for a week so it was so welcome.

This is my mutt Pepe; he was happy too.

Love from Milan,
Charlotte”

What a wonderful gift all the way from Italy!

Thank you so much, Charlotte!

And now this magic light and cute dog are also a gift for you!

That Shift from Storming to Not—-Wednesday, November 30, 2016

the-shift-001Around four o’clock on Monday afternoon the storm finally decided to leave

The sky started stretching and reaching further and further until the golden light burst forth.

the-shift-002

The moving clouds were shifting fast and clouds turning to mist over the plateau.

The air was so crisp and fresh I could almost dance in it.  Loading up the firewood for the evening I took in great breaths of fresh air that was colored in beautiful sunshine.

eveningSuch a relief from the sharp gray overcast from that morning.

From my world to your heart!

Sorry I’m Late—Tuesday, November 29, 2016

dump-001

Shannon and I left early this morning to make a run to the dump.  It’s a long trip, but a necessary one.

Now to get back to my regularly scheduled work!  Chuckle!

Remodeling —- Monday, November 28, 2016

We are still working on the remodel down at the other house.  It used to be a coal room and a furnace room, on one side; a rather poor fruit room on the other side.  We thought it would be a nice addition to the house to have those two rooms become one room.

We now have the ceiling up!

New insulation and finishing up the walls.

Every day we get a little more done!

Sure is a nice feeling!

The Last Blooms of Summer—-Sunday, November 27, 2016

late-fall-flowersWhile Terry and I were out putting up the metal fences, and the electric fences around our farm yard, I happened to walk by the sheep trough I have turned into a planter.

There they were…those hardy little pansies, still blooming their little hearts out even though it’s been terribly cold.

It was a delight to see!  A touch of summer in the cooling down of late fall.

I am wishing you a most lovely day,

Linda

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone—Thursday, November 24, 2016

With all the rain we have been having (on top of snow in the mountains and foothills) I had a most wonderful gift…
