As the Day Evaporates —- Tuesday, December 17, 2019

Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. — SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE

We are very cold right now….7*f -13*c.  The morning light is so incredibly beautiful shining through the crisp cold air

The colors streaming, and dancing on the peaks is very attractive.

The world is rather beautiful, as the day evaporates into bits of whirling sunlight.

Sometimes Time Feels Like a Loose and Flying Feather —- Monday, December 16, 2019

The school bus goes by our place long before the sun is really up.

Watching time move throughout the day is truly a glory.  The first tinge of sunlight appears long after the world has woken and headed to work, or school, or shopping, or….

Quickly, ever so rapidly the daylight brightens,

then with high speed starts

the swift descent into night

Not long now before the shortest day of the year.  Gratefully we will move forward into flourishing daylight and raw, impressive cold temperatures, which will billow into

Whispering, creaking ice…but at least the days will grow longer.

And THAT will be a very good thing.

Each Hour of the Day and Night—-Sunday, December 15, 2019

“Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.”– Henry David Thoreau, Walden Pond

Every day, we are so extremely blessed; besides a million or so heartbeats we enjoy

There are trillions of other wee gifts— such as the silence of the land

tiny little presents, of everyday joys;

gusting like small soft breezes,

as we move throughout the day

(and in some cases, the night, or almost night)

Sometimes I think I would like to ‘know the future.  To be able to turn the page, like we do in books’, then I tell myself–

Perhaps, I really don’t want that knowledge

I would miss the changes throughout the time I am living in

Therefore, I remind myself—until the cords of my soul are cut from my body;  I will wear out each hour of the day, with contentment and peace.

Unwinding of Daylight —Thursday, December 12, 2019

“Forget not that the Earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.”–Khalil Gibran, The Prophet

I was either seventeen (17) or eighteen (18), when my paternal grandmother, offered to me a much worn red, leather-bound book, with thin onionskin pages and a red silk ribbon for a bookmarker.

She told me how much she loved the tiny book and thought that I (possibly) might like it also.

She was so right.  I did love the book and I still do!   The book is The Prophet, By Khalil Gibran.

Winter is heavy here now..the clouds cover us like a tomb, but the sinking away of the sun lights those very same clouds; showing dark and dreary really isn’t totally dark and dreary.

Snow is on its way.  The Moon tells us so.

The heavens are brimming with clouds, but still…in a wee break; the moon sits quietly in a moisture-laden circle of rainbows.

Twenty Beats of the Heart, Then Just a Few More—Wednesday, December 11, 2019

As the brilliant golden sun left our bright winter day

The moon rose rapidly in the east….Sun and Moon sending their whispering light over our farm

As I watched the sun sink very quickly in the west, darkness speedily filling the land

The moon gently entered a shadowed colored cloud

The air shivering as I watched

The lovely old Man in the Moon

radiates white and silver

glimmering moonbeams —

like a chorus of angels in the heavens.

Clacking Trees —Tuesday, December 10, 2019

Winter brings an interesting phenomenon

Things which are unusual, at best, seem to occur

With a slight more bit of frequency

Winter has it’s own glimmering twilight, so different

from Spring,

or Summer,

or Fall

The colors are much different, filled with lavender instead of hot oranges

And the trees sigh, instead of sing—swaying and clacking in the cold.

Entwined in my Heart — Monday, December 9, 2019

Another wee rainbow yesterday!  What a joy to behold!

A hawk sat in the branches of the old Willow tree

He looked a little worse for wear…probably the too wet of the night. (I’m guessing)

Because of the rain, the ground was just right for Terry to smooth out the road

In front of the sheds.  It’s funny how the long lane to the house and the roads around the sheds seem to get lumps and bumps.

Then in the quiet, while I hauled wood and gathered eggs

I saw an unusual bird, a Woodpecker possibly?  Does anyone know?

And I think, this is a hawk…what do you think?

My daily sphere of life, little treasures of the ordinary.

A Tiny Flash of Wonder —-Sunday, December 8, 2019

“There are moments when all anxiety and stated toil are becalmed in the infinite leisure and repose of nature.”—Henry David Thoreau

Friday, evening, while hauling wood I looked up and saw a beautiful rainbow gracing the day.

That evening as the day turned into night

The moon promised moisture

Surely to come.

If not Saturday, then soon very soon.

On the way to town (Saturday), there in the rearview mirror, among the dirt speckles I saw (O! THE JOY!) a RAINBOW!

Which suddenly appeared again, after we turned the corner and another corner; there it was

Filling the sky with love and hope and wonder.

That evening (Saturday) walking across the field with Black Beauty’s Mom, my oldest daughter, she suddenly stopped “Here is a Heart, just for you, Mom.”

And there it was a perfect tiny little heart. Just waiting for someone to show it’s self too.

What a delightful weekend, Rainbows and wee little heart stone.

While the Gods Hoovered Around Us —-Thursday, December 5, 2019

“Now I see the secret of the making of the best persons, It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.”— Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

While the Gods hoovered around us, and by us, and even over us

The corn harvest came to a final end, as the draining light fled the sky

Which was a good thing, because last night the clouds came in

Bringing to us chilly rain

a dripping and damp (but clean) earth

Then for a second, as the clouds parted for a wee small moment

Another Sundog glossed the clouds, simmering in rainbow colors. Quickly the clouds slid thickly over and the rains started to pour.

Our roof now echoes with the drumming of moisture.

All is well.

I Love the Earth, the Heavens, and all the Creatures Upon It —- Wednesday, December 4, 2019

“My wish is to stay always like this, living quietly in a corner of nature.”  Claude Monet

I love feeding the wild birds

They come in huge flocks now; remembering the yummy food from last year

I feel that nature, the Earth, the Heavens and the creatures all placed here on the world with us are treasure left to our care from the Gods

Otherwise, we would be quite alone in the world.

I think the Highest Powers of Creation took pity on us

Looking down upon our land, all covered in a giant mist of unfeelingness and caring.

They saw how very lonely it truly was, this Earth…there were only Humans.

Humans were creatures of many emotions, the worst was jealousy, anger, and greed.

Because the Gods loved the Earth and they also loved the humans…they gathered from each one of their Heavenly domains creatures to gift the earth; therefore man.

Causing a big storm to fill the sky

they covered the earth, driving all the humans into caves and hallows of trees

While the humans hid, the Gods started filling the Earth with Splendid things—

Rocks, trees, plants of all types and sizes

Seemingly ordinary things, yet so special they were magic unto themselves.

Birds and

Fur-bearing animals,

fish for the waters, and

wonderous little friends to raise up our souls.

Then the Gods lifted the ban on the sun

And Man saw how truly blessed the Gods were to the Earth and to all humankind.

From my heart to your world,

Linda
