Today I am 70—Monday, January 14, 2019

Today I am 70…I have seen a decided change in my physical appearance these last few months

A surprise when I actually “LOOK” at myself and not just glance or see one thing, like what is my hair doing.

I suppose I am now elderly…but my mind, my heart, and my soul doesn’t seem to realize it

I still feel young.

Although, there is a slowing down I didn’t seem to have this summer.

But everything is all good…I am glad to be alive, in good health.

My word I have chosen for this year is Magic…and, for certain and sure…being 70 is a very nice form of magic.

From my heart to your world,

Linda

Everything Normal for January — Sunday, January 13, 2019

Each day is a typical January day for our part of the high desert plains of Colorado

We were in the slush and slog of a quiet winter melt

When Saturday morning we woke up to a wee lovely snow

Enough Terry thought he would take a small ride down the long, long lane to the county road

Beaglie and I went for walk up the farm to the haystack are and back

Later in the afternoon, the sun came out and what was once a snow-packed road became a road of melt

The result by the ending of the day…we were back to  MELT!!  (Mud)

A Gift from All the Saints and Even the Fairies—Thursday, January 10, 2019

Wings!  I just love those marvelous feathery wings

Terry and I were driving home last evening, from town, when we thought to take the route through the Confluence Park

We were just in time for the Canada Geese to come winging in for the night

It was poetry in action—a form of music after a long day

The geese were singing in thrilling cords, announcing their arrival, lapsing into small jagged sounds as they landed dragging their feet to stop; hushing whispery sounds as they jockeyed for spots on the mostly frozen lake

The air was thrumming with the sound of wings, and cheerful calls from one to another.

We were delighted to share the evening with the geese and a massive red sunset.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The Crunch of Snow and the Slush of Melt —- Wednesday, January 9, 2019

(This is an old photo from the last melt two weeks ago, but I loved the colors)

It’s melting here…great swaths of earth now call MUD forming here there and everywhere

It is the season of MUD!

But I am thinking it won’t last.  This, after all, it is January.

There are several more weeks to go until March

But for a short spell, I will enjoy this small melt

Wipe up the mud and water as we come into the house

And continue to count the days until the new season of farming starts.

(These photos of snow and birds were taken three days ago…we are melting fast)

The Prospect of a New Day— Tuesday, January 8, 2019

“I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning.”—J.B. Priestley

I love the blaze of light which gathers just before night creeps up onto the land

The collapse of the day

The colors only are seen at the beginning of the day or at the ending

The sky turning into the color of blueberry ice cream/ turning the earth the same color

Sometimes there are no masses of clouds defined with rays of sunshine

Or the clouds are so thin that the shafts of light seem misty and blurry

Sunrise can be so stunningly amazing that the trees seem like black shadows

Until the sun becomes high enough in the sky the dark silhouettes fade away

Then there is that golden light…a light there really isn’t words to explain the beauty

Just being outside, in that glory-filled light is really quite peaceful.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Spirit is All —- Monday, January 7, 2019

For I believe everything….and I do mean everything has a life and a soul and a purpose here on earth

And each and everything has a relationship with us…

Even if we can’t see, feel, or understand the relationship.

So often the human population walks around completely deaf and blind to the complete world surrounding us.

But once we understand that our lives are more

And made up of greater or additional things besides brick and mortar, food and the eating of food, or drink and the entertainment of such

We start to understand that we are all connected to each and every living thing through the essence of ‘ourselves.’

Everything on this earth (and maybe our Universe) are right there at the edges of our dreams

Living complete and mysterious lives so beautiful and wonderful it boggles the mind.

BUT

Once you see and acknowledge the magic of our earth something inside you changes

And you start to receive little gifts…little insights

And promises of a return to that time of innocence

Called youth.

Very humbly from my heart to your world,

Linda

For the Good of the Whole—-Thursday, January 3, 2019

The cold persists…only we did warm up some -3* (-19 c) this morning and 13* (-10c)  right now.

Still, I’m sure it’s all for the good of things—

In ways, I don’t understand…nature, after all, is rather mysterious.

But still, we must remember to treat nature with respect for nature doesn’t see anything but what is good for the masses.

From my heart to your world,

Linda

Baby It’s Cold Outside—-Wednesday, January 2, 2019

Well, we fell to -11* f (-23c) this morning and warmed up to -5* f (-20c) when I came up here to write to you.

Although the weather people are promising we will be MUCH warmer than yesterday zooming up to 28* (-2c) for at least a short spell this afternoon.

So here we are at the start of a new year, snow on the ground and in the mountains (where we really, really need it) and sunshine today

We are in one of those ‘between places’

Where it seems the world has stopped for a spell…neither one thing or another thing

Allowing us to walk in a cloud of cold so harsh your nose sticks together, yet so stunningly beautiful you want to be outside and enjoy everything.

And for some reason…only the crows know…they have taken to gather in huge flocks called a Murder of Crows…

Which are actually rather neat to see and hear

Stay warm my friends and enjoy the day!

My Wish for You in 2019—-Tuesday, January 1, 2019

I wish for you to get to walk this planet no longer battered by being an adult,

To no longer be crushed by the every day of every day

That your hearts will be lifted

You can recapture your innocence

And claim some of the joyous magic that surrounds us each and every day.

Then when you lay your head down at night you have found wonder,

wherever you live—rural or city, country or town…where ever you call home

My wish is for you to reclaim, it not all, at least some of the magic which is part and parcel of our days.

That your year…this year of 2019…is a most magical year for you.

“Write upon your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”–Ralph Waldo Emerson

With all my heart and my love,

Happy New Year, My Friends

Linda
