The Adventures of TLC Cai-Cai, on Friday—-I Am Home, Friday, February 19, 2021

I am HOME!

YAY!

I didn’t know this was home for a little while, because, after all…. I had a home with MOMMY first.

But something terrible happened.

I didn’t even get to have all the proper time with Mommy when someone picked me up and threw me out-the-door.

I used to live with Mommy, we had food, and I had Mommy, and we played, and I learned to use the potty box…everything was nice.

Then suddenly someone with big boots (I hate big boots; I scream and yell and try to kill big boots when I see them) booted me out the door.

I wandered around for a long time.

Then a special thing happened.

My new OLDEST sister found me wandering in the parking lot where she parks to go to work…I meowed LOUD so she would see me.

She saw me!

YAY!

I spent the rest of the very long day with my new BIG sister at her beauty salon getting held and petted by all sorts of nice people.

Then on the way to my NEW MOM AND DAD, I screamed and yelled and cried because my tummy was terribly empty and I wanted some food.

As soon as my new Mom saw me, she opened up a can of YUMMY soft cat food.

I ATE IT ALL GONE!

(It took me a little while because I had to eat a small amount then go play, come back eat some more until I got full.)

Once I got my tummy full, and I had a big play with my new felt bunny, I fell asleep and slept a long, long time.

When I woke up I knew I was SAFE!

Mom and Dad call me TLC, (Terry and Linda’s Cat) TLC CAI-CAI (sounds like Kay-Kay).

I am a boy!  A big tough strong BOY!

I like to do STUFF—I run through the house, I hide and try to get Mindy to play with me,

I hang out on Dad’s lap; watch his IPad with him,

and take a nap on his lap in the evening.

I make sure I am with Mom everywhere she goes.  And if she doesn’t get me breakfast first thing in the morning, I TELL HER!

We have a very special understanding of things, Mom and me.

I have a small problem of needing to suck on something just before I go to sleep, Mom and my oldest new Sister think I was weaned too soon.  They think I was around 6-7 weeks old when I was tossed out to fend for myself.

Anyway.

Mindy doesn’t really like me.  But I’m working on it.  I run at her and try to play, I sit and watch her sleep, and I try to get as close to her as I can when she is eating.  I think she will start to like me if I do those things.

At least I hope so.  Mom says I need to tone things down a little bit.  I don’t know about that.  I only tone down if Mindy tells me!

I live inside…I don’t even want to go outside. But Mom says not for a long time can I go outside.  It’s too wet and too cold and too nasty.  And Mindy might take me off somewhere and dump me.

I’m not interested in that ‘dump me’ situation again.

Life is WONDERFUL—

I have box

Paper

Elephant

A whole slew of mice

Girrrafe (I growl when I play with him)

And my most favorite of all things

LION!

I’m so glad to have Dad, and Mom, and Mindy!

On a Freezing Afternoon — Wednesday, February 17, 2021

Baby, it’s cold outside

A flash of silver

Feather fluffed for warmth

On a freezing day in the afternoon.

Canada Geese in Landing —-Tuesday, February 16, 2021

When I went out to the hens, I saw a flock of geese landing by the Grain Bins

SHHHHHHHHHHH.  Careful— does it.  They are extremely afraid of people.   There might be guns you know.

Malevolent Weather, It IS Still Winter After All —- Monday, February 15, 2021

The tiny bits of rain hardened over-night Saturday

A gale blew in early Sunday morning with persistent bits of snow within it

The sky gray; the temperatures dropping to ‘feels like minus degrees.

Pelting, vicious…just plain nasty.

The gusting winds blew on and on…

Winter….it’s still here. (See the fox in the photo…what brave creature to be out in this mess)

The Adventures of Mindy on Friday—-DID I ASK FOR THIS? Friday, February 12, 2021

I don’t believe it!

I didn’t ask for this!

A dog friend maybe, but NOT A BABY!!

Come on, Mom?

What gives?

Sigh!

Well, I guess a baby is what gives.  It’s taking me a little spell to get used to this thing.

I’ve finally got myself figured out…I still love Mom and Dad.  I still come in a eat and lay around on the sofa and my bed, but if that KID decides to play with me.

I get up and leave!

I make Mom or Dad let me outside.

Then outside I follow my Mom and Dad around

but inside…

huff, huff…

I haven’t gotten used to having a KID around again.

(Stay tuned for more information about this little twirp.  I guess he also gets his own, ADVENTURES on Friday posts. Sigh)

A Delicious Soothing Peace of Morning Sunlight —- Thursday, February 11, 2021

On the way to do the early morning chores,

The soothing, serene, and eternal

Waking of the sun lifts hearts, minds, and souls; leaving me feeling light-headed and possibly able to float in the glided gossamer air.

From my world to your heart,

Back on a Snowy Day, Last Week —- Tuesday, February 9, 2021

During the night, one-day last week, the snow arrived

Not lots and lots of snow,

But enough snow, the ground was frozen

And pleasant to take a wild run about.

Fun!

Perfect!

The gifts of clean air, fresh snow, who could ask for more?

The Chill of Winter Drawing Slowly, Ever so Slowly Toward Spring —- Monday, February 8, 2021

(The Bridge into our farmyard)

It’s there, a wee tiny hint of Spring

The sunlight breaking through the trees, the ground starting to dry more and more

Coyote hunters walking on soil instead of mud

Then a wee slide back to small and light snow

Where the earth is blessed with moisture

Then warmth, creating mud again

Still cold enough I wear socks with my flip-flops

Winter on the bridge to our farm

After a chilly, but drying wind, on a day of sunshine

From this

To this

To this.

Spring is coming.

Yes, it is.

Enchantment — Sunday, February 7, 2021

LOOK!

There in the crowded little bird cafe…enjoying a tiny little feast

Twisting this way and that on the treat feeder….a darling little woodpecker!

I think it is a Downy Woodpecker.

Gifts from the Sky — Thursday, February 4, 2021

There is often more gifts in nature than we realize

Shooting stars are a gift…a flash of light, with a shower of sparks

So is the dim winter sun lighting up the beauty of a little collared-dove

Or to watch the flight of a bird being lit up by bright snowy clouds

Suddenly seeing a hawk flying low over the woodpile

Or to hear the call of the Sandhill Cranes as they wing over the farmyard

Or that flash of red on a Red-winged Blackbird

Lending brightness to a grey sort of day

Hearing an enchanting song

Even in the snow, there is a delight

Full of light, wonder, and song

No matter what is going on in your life…there are always moments of awe.

What a gift.

From my world to your heart,

Linda
