A Mindy Adventure Story—Life Goes On, Friday, January 8, 2021 Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight

It’s been a nice two weeks.

I’ve made sure the mice are at bay

Scared off a few birds

Patrolled the whole farmyard every day, more than twice a day

And even found Dad’s tire jacket laying on the ground

Just perfect for me to play hide and seek in.

Hide the Mindy

Run out

Run back in…jump on it to hear the crackle

Run away

What a blast!

Then yesterday, Black Beauty and Loki showed up.

“Hey, Mindy!  Where is Boomer?  I haven’t seen him for a very long time” Black Beauty woofed at me.

“Yes, Where IS Boomer?” Loki echoed

Their question just stopped me in my tracks.

“You don’t know, Black Beauty?  You came every day to visit Boomer.”

“Yes, yes, I did.  But then Mom stopped bringing me. Where is Boomer, it would be good to play with him again.  To go sniffing around the farmyard seeing who and what has passed through.”

“ME TOO!”  Loki yelled.  “I haven’t seen Boomer since July when I was here last.  Tell him to come out and play.”

I just stared at them.

They don’t know.

They really don’t know.

It shocks me how many love Boomer and are missing him.

Geez.

I sat down, wrapped my tail around my feet, cleared my throat—and began.

Afterward, Black Beauty just hung her head and walked over to her Mom’s car and sat waiting for her Mom to come out.

Loki just looked at me with a huge stunned look on his face.

“But he was HEALTHY in July!  Healthy!” Loki sputtered.

“I know. In October he wasn’t healthy.  And he left us. Mom cried for days.

I tried not to cry.  But there are times when the whole farm just seems lonely.”

“Wow, I can imagine,” Loki exclaimed. “Gosh, it just doesn’t seem right.”

“No, it doesn’t.” I agreed.

About that time Loki’s Mom and Black Beautys’ Mom came to the back door.

“What’s wrong with Black Beauty?” Black Beauty’s Mom asked.

“Gosh, she acts like she is afraid you are going to leave her.” Loki’s Mom replied.

I just looked at both of them.  People just never really understand animals, I thought.

My Mom walked out with Shannon and Misty; stooped down and picked me up.

We watch everyone get into the car and drive off.

“I’ll bet you had to tell Boomer’s friends about Boomer, didn’t you, Min-Min.” Mom said while she petted me.

We stayed there a short while.

Then Mom sat me down and I went back to work.

Mom headed into the house.

Boomer’s friends. I thought.  How many more do I have to tell. How many friends are Boomer’s friends who don’t know?

Let me count— Freddy Fox,

Oreo the Skunk,

Freddy’s Mom (Shudder),

all the Raccoons…

OH, PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ME TELL THE COYOTES!!! I yowled up into the sky.

I don’t even want to tell the fox family, or Oreo, or the raccoons…

I DO NOT WANT TO TELL THEM! I wailed.

PLEASE, Boomer, Help!

I ran as hard as I could toward the log pile and screeched my plea to the heavens.

PLEASE HELP!

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Loki TaMoki, Friday May 1, 2020

Black Beauty and Loki TaMoki came for a visit.  Black Dog comes every day, sometimes twice or more a day…she is my sister’s dog, which makes her my best friend.

Loki TaMoki comes once awhile because he lives somewhere, I’ve never been, with all the grandchildren.

So anyway,

Black Beauty came to see me, and Mom

Then THE ALL AMERICAN ATHLET showed up:  LOKI TAMOKI

Loki came to see Dad.

After a spell, all the people went into the house, except Mom.  Who went over to check on some stuff by the Tile House, so I went with Mom.

Suddenly Mom and I heard. MEEEEEEEEEEOOOOWWWWW! SCREEEEECH!
SCREAM!

Then WOOF!

ZOOM!

“LOKI YOU STOP THAT!” Mom yelled.

When Mom yelled Mindy ran as fast as she could to Mom…with

You guessed it the athlete right behind her.

BUSTED LOKI

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— I Protect Mom, Friday, November 8, 2019

Mom and I were out and about.  Doing this and that and other things.

We would get on the four-wheeler; Mom would drive to here and there, then we would get off and Mom would do something.

I would sniff around and until Mom would call.

Back on the four-wheeler, we would go.

(Socks and flip-flops 🙂  )

It was way over by the old Apricot tree when Mom and I got off to ‘go for a walk’.

That’s what Mom said we were going to do

We were walking straight down the road when I suddenly saw

DANGER!

I crouched down real low, growled deeply in my chest; I had Mom to take care of, you see.

I kept like that for a long time.

BUT MOM KEPT ON WALKING TOWARD THE DANGER!

AND SHE KEPT CALLING ME TO FOLLOW!

Are you Kidding!  I’ve been out here on the farm in many dangerous situations and I KNOW DANGER!

I didn’t hurry up, but I started following Mom in my growling,

Creeping stance!

Making myself as BIG as I could make myself, raised my ears, lowered my tail and crept along.

Growl!

GROWL!  MOM COME BACK! I whined.

Suddenly the danger was right on me and it was

BLACK BEAUTY!!

I tricked Mom really well, don’t you think?

Boomer

(P.S. I knew there wasn’t danger all along, I was just tricking Mom.

Really.

My eyes still work very well, Thank you.

It was just to let Mom know I would take care of her.

Honestly.  This was all just a trick on Mom.)

Boomer

(P.P.S.S. I really thought it was a coyote.  But don’t tell anyone, okay.)

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Black Beauty and I Have a Very Tiny Adventure Friday, October 25, 2019

Black Beauty came over to play with me yesterday day.  Black Beauty likes to play with me.

I’m very gentle with her, you see Black Beauty is a Special Needs dog; sometimes she just doesn’t understand things, but I take my time and I help her.

We sniffed out all the news on the farm.  Black Beauty didn’t want to go far without her Mom, but I told her it was okay.

My oldest sister was in the house with Mom talking.

They won’t be outside for a spell.

Black Beauty wanted to stand right at the back door and stare inside, but I gently nosed her away and showed her all the cool smells we can investigate.

Once she understood she was with me and it was okay to explore, it went very well.

Black Beauty is a Lab so she has a very good nose; i.e. ABLE TO SMELL EVERYTHING!

We sniffed here and there and everywhere—we smelled coyotes, raccoons, two foxes, and

Mindy cat.

It was a very nice time.

Then Mom and Black Beauty’s Mom (my oldest Sister) came outside

and we all walked back through the farm to Black Beauty’s home— gathering dog news all the way.

Boomer Beaglie Brown 😊

P.S. Some of the photos of Black Beauty have been posted before, but Mom forgot to get current photos on the walk; I wanted you to see Black Beauty in my news report.
