FIGHT!!!!! —- Tuesday, October 21, 2025

I decided to set up a game camera to see who or what is clacking around by the haystack yard.

Boys!

Yep.

Oh!

WOW!  Three — it’s a brawl!

Whew!  I have no idea who won.

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty on Friday—-Big Exciting Day, Friday, October 21, 2022

I GOT TO GO!!!

Mom and Dad and Shannon and

Black Beauty and

Kia and

ME!! ME! MYSELF! And I!!!

We all got to go check fences and build fences.

It was wonderful!

WONDERFUL!

Mom said she had to watch me carefully because I am so little.

I don’t get why; I just did what the big girls did!

There was so much stuff to learn about—Kia found something really exciting in the corn field—she barked and barked and barked at it.

I didn’t go with her, I stayed with Black Beauty.

Then Black Beauty found us something yummy to eat.  HUMMMM

Shannon yelled at her and took it away. When she took the yummy from Black Beauty, she took my morsel away from me.

“We don’t need you throwing up later,” Shannon explained.

We moved through Rabbit Brush, Chico’s,

cattails, up rocky hills, across grasses pastures— it was wonderful.

JUST WONDERFUL!

TRA LA LA LA LA!!!

(P.S. Some photos are from the archives, I wasn’t very good at taking lots of photos when there was so much to do.  Sorry!  But it does give you an idea of everything we did. 🙂  )

Rain Smudged Our World — Thursday, October 21, 2021

Over night the rain came

Bringing with it much cooler weather

And softened lovely earth, that dried very quickly.

Putting the Farm to Bed —- Monday, October 21, 2019

Morning sunrise.

Terry took one side of the farm and I took the other

It turned out to be a nice day, cold in the morning, warm without wind starting in the middle of the morning

Abundant sunshine

It felt good.  All the siphon tubes, the dams, and the ditch cleaners up and waiting for spring.

It was a very good day!

The Demands of Each Day—Sunday, October 21, 2018

There is still much to do, farm work does not stop just because it’s Autumn

It actually speeds up for this season is the accumulation of winter, spring, and summer

It’s a good time, though.  It’s the time of Harvest where the demands of the day increase.

(I just bought myself a new work coat…well, actually I got TWO new work coats…looking at this one, it was time 🙂 )

The corn harvest is getting very close.  We were thinking we would start Monday, but not quite yet.

The moisture content of the kernels is 15.5%  —as soon as we hit 15% the combine will head into the field, the big grain truck will follow it and there we will be…

in the harvest.

These late Fall days, cool and growing short, deplete our energy, but the work nourishes us.

Winter nears—the leaves are falling like yellow flecks of light on the tired ground.

Everything and everyone is singing the song of Fall.

Today There is Fog—Wednesday, October 21, 2015

I tried to take a photo of our world, but it just looks grey.

fog-3.jpgFog!  Beautiful wonderful fog.

We get fog very, very rarely here.  It’s not a common occurrence.  Momma used to tell my brother and I, that fog was when a cloud got tired and sat down upon the earth to rest.

Fog-2Although that isn’t the scientific fact, I like it much better.

A cloud resting.

Fog

There is a perfect stillness in the heart of a cloud.

Checking My List—Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Heading-outI let the dogs go with me to the other house!  I know, I know, I said Boomer couldn’t go anymore, but ….I just felt so sorry for him….those sad beagle eyes you know.

So off we went…then while I was there he had to come inside while I worked at painting the coat closet.  He didn’t mind, although Fuzzy said he preferred sitting outside on the step in the sunshine.

This house is almost where I want it to forget it for a spell, all I have to do is mop (!) then I’m done for a time.

Rose-of-fallI also took our ballets in to the court house…there—- we have voted!  YIPPEE!!

Now we just wait to see how the vote turns out.  I really like this mail in voting…no standing in line—get your ballet- think about what you want to see happen, color in the square…put everything back in the proper envelopes, sign and date the back, then either walk it in and put it in the voting box or mail it.  DONE!

Ending-of-the-day

Tomorrow I should finish up this houses’ to-do list and maybe get closer to finished INSIDE the other house.  I would really like to get the trim and the fences done before the weather turns bad.  I would also like to be done down there, before the corn harvest starts.  I looked back over my blog and we started the 5th of November last year.  That’s not to far off now.  Although, it depends on the moisture of the corn…one year we were clear to Christmas before we got done, not being able to start until after Thanksgiving.  I sure hope we don’t have another year like that!

With joy in my heart and a song on my lips–the list is shortening every day!

Today is my little brother’s birthday.  Of course he isn’t my ‘little’ brother anymore, standing way taller than I do.  🙂

Dan-and-IHe looks rather startled by the flash, don’t you think.

There are only the two of us…he and I.

Swing

Happy Birthday, Dan!
