And with rain, there is sometimes a
Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Lovely, thirst quenching rain. Although, Fuzzy panicked and ran into the corn field with all the thunder and the lightening. It took me about an hour to get him to come out. Boomer stayed with him the whole time. Both dogs were wet, and muddy and soaked. They got to sleep on the back porch until they both decided it was way too hot for them and went outside around two this morning.
It is still cloudy here, although not raining. Everything looks so happy and clean outside. Rain is a blessing. It’ s just hard to have it rain during harvest.
(And YES, we do have weeds….)
Whenever it rains I always think of that wonderful little song from Disney—
Linda
Winnie The Pooh And The Blustery Day:
And the rain rain rain came down down down
So Piglet started bailing.
He was unaware, atop his chair,
While bailing he was sailing!
And the rain rain rain came down down down
And the flood rose up up upper.
Pooh, too, was caught and so he thought,
“I must rescue my supper!”
Ten honey pots he rescued,
Enough to see him through,
But as he sopped up his supper,
The river sopped up Pooh!
And the water twirled and tossed him
In a honey pot canoe!
The rain rain rain came down down down…
Our next assignment from Sara is — “light and how you use it is one of the most important aspects of photography. Let’s play with some interesting natural light this week. Rays of sunshine can be found during the sunrise, sunset or even just beaming through a window during the day. Of course, if it rains all week, that wouldn’t be such a bad thing for much of the country either
“.
So for my Sunday Stills I give you
Sun Rays (and one photo of a neat rainbow, although we didn’t get rain someplace around us must have.)
Perfect!

Now as everyone knows, it’s been hot here!
Hot and dry!
Dry and Hot!
Did I tell you it has been very hot and dry here?
Well, it has.
Still the work has to go on.
We are still changing water every eight hours.
Boomer and I LOVE to change water.
We were out with Mom and Dad changing water last evening when Boomer hollered that Pete and Polly were over at the old apricot tree!
I didn’t go see them; the bubbles in the water were more fun.
Boomer said he just barked “Hello” and went on his way…there were lots of things to smell out in the equipment yard:
You know lots and lots of news.
A whole bunch of storm clouds blew in around the two o’clock setting that afternoon.
It cooled down real nice.
Then suddenly the heavens broke loose…thunder, lightning (shudder, shiver, pant, panic) and big wind. Boomer and I headed indoors to be with Mom. Thunder doesn’t bother Boomer at all. Nothing really bothers Boom, outside of some men and some boys in caps and the garage other than that…he is always happy!
While we were inside it rained!!
Yippee! Mom and Dad were so happy they sat outside and watched it rain. Lots of rain, really nice rain! (Oh and when they went outside I (and Boomer) had to go outside with them (shudder) because I am NOT leaving Mom when there is thunder in the sky!!!!
EVER!
Then Mom saw it……
A RAINBOW! Just as the sun was starting to set!
“A perfect ending to a perfect day”, Mom said.
Just then the phone rang….it was Mom-mom, seems that Hank Puff met Pete and Polly.
(Taken with a cell phone)
Which reminds me, we did hear Hank sort of barking and yipping down at his house, but since there was so much thunder I didn’t really listen to him.
I keep telling that boy, he can’t chase everything, nor can he bite at everything.
(taken with a cell phone)
Boomer asked me later, just as we were going to sleep…
“Fuzzy?”
“Hummm?”
“Do you think Hank Puff has learned his lesson about trying to catch everything that walks close to him?”
“I don’t know, Boomer. I really don’t know”
Fuzzy
We got to Salida to go on our pre-arranged trip on the Captain Zipline tours, but while we were eating it started to rain! RAIN! We have not seen rain in our part of Colorado for months and months and not even a wet snow last winter.
So having this really neat rain was well WONDERFUL! The zip-line tour had to be canceled until the next morning at 9:30, but who cared! Salida got about 60 minutes of really nice rain. They told us this was the first good rain they have had in a very long time.
The next morning we were at the loading dock paid and ready to go…it’s a fifteen minute drive to the mountains and canyons where the zip-lines were located.
I thought I would NOT be able to do this…..attach myself to wire and fling myself off a canyon wall to zip over the wire to the next side of the canyon….but I did it!!!!
What a hoot!
We rode all seven (counting the bunny training line)!
The group we were with was lots of fun and our guides were very good. The whole thing was hugely fun.
I recommend it for everyone…and if you can’t stand heights…well, just keep your eyes shut!
I did for the first two…the last five were incredible!
When we got back into Salida it rained again…for 15 minutes. How delicious it felt!
We called Misty and asked if home got any rain.
No, no rain.
Not even a dark cloud.
While we were in Salida, a fire started close to home. That is the Pine Ridge fire at Debeque, Colorado. (Lightening caused)
Debeque is between Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs, Colorado, if you want to check it out on the map.
Many of you have asked how close that is to us…it’s about an hour and 15 minutes away…around 60 miles. Grand Junction is experiencing lots of smoke from the fire, but we are up the way…. East from Grand Junction, so we only see the smoke as it bellows over the mountains and canyons west of us.
Tomorrow I will tell you about Cottonwood Springs.
Happy Monday Everyone!

Lots happening here!
Well there was lots happening here….its’ raining now so everything has come to screeching halt.
Dad has been ‘doing the beans’. What that means is he pulled all the beans and put them into rows so they can dry. The beans themselves need to dry, the stems on the beans need to dry and if there are any weeds (and there is always weeds, no matter how much my people try) need to dry.
Then they sit for about a week if the weather holds.
By that I mean if we have lots of really nice sunshine and maybe a slight breeze or so.
In the meantime, while we are waiting for the fields to get ready for the combine…we all get to get the combine ready for the beans.
This is more work that you would think….Dad really is the one who has to get the combine ready so off we go to get the combine.
I sometimes like to run alongside (not very often anymore-but every once in a while). Going after the combine I decided this was one of those times.
Tally was spending the day with us while her Momma was working at Blade and Linkin’s school so Tallen and Hank/Puff where also along to get the combine.
It was a really nice warm day.
Actually Hank/Puff got hot and had to go for a swim in the canal. When Mom saw that she said it reminded her that I needed a bath and hair cut.
I really hate the bath and haircut thing…but the brushing out thing is ….
Ahhhh!
…..really nice!
So everything was going along really well…the beans were about ready for harvest (Dad said a couple of more days of drying and he will be in the field and the beans will be at the Beanery), when it
RAINED!
Lots of rain!
Days of rain!
Everything is sitting in mud. Dad is worried that the rain has pushed the beans down into the mud; if that is the case he will have to go back out there and rerun the blade under them and wait for them to dry…..again!
The hay customers are coming right along in a steady stream. Boom and I really enjoy barking them down the lane. We do a real good job too! Boom gets in trouble because, well…he pees on the tires! Dad yells at him…I don’t do yelling. I gave up tire peeing some time back.
Well….unless
There is another dog in the back! I have to just ignore Dad if another dog is present…can’t be the laughing stock of the neighborhood!
Well, it’s raining again.
Guess we just wait for the sun. Mom said we could go to town with her, see ya later!
Fuzzy
It’s raining here, mostly in the hills and mountains around us.
The storms come up in the afternoon after a sweltering morning.
I really don’t mind the rain, or the clouds, but this time of year…moisture, coupled with heat, then sometimes it does produce hail. So everytime the storms come in we hold our breath hoping hail doesn’t also come with it.
