Moving to Delta, Colorado—Sunday, September 4, 2016

Yesterday we helped our daughter and son-in-law, in Grand Junction, Colorado load up some of their stuff to move to Delta–home for Kimberly and back to Delta County, for Cliff.

Moving-to-DeltaTerry made this trailer years ago to haul bulls, cows, and pigs.  It has also hauled furniture to Denver, back from Denver, to Grand Junction, and now back from Grand Junction.

(I must brag a little bit here—my man is sure talented! If he needs it, or wants it, he figures out a way to make it.  💕 💕 💕–how lucky I am!)

Sunlit-cloud-2We were fortunate to move them in-between storms.  We’ve been having lots and lots of thunder and rain storms.  It sure has been nice for the yard.  A welcome gift for the plants and for me!

The tomatoes and peppers are coming on strong now. It’s canning time!  My pears are ripening in big, thick, warm blankets then it will be time to ‘put them up’.

We are still working on the firewood, although the pile is MUCH smaller.  Maybe this week we will finish it.  I sure hope so.  I’m a tad wore out.  We are taking off today and maybe Monday,  maybe not Monday, we will see.

I hope your Labor Day weekend is a good one!

Finally we are warming up!

Yesterday, Terry and I went to Grand Junction to so some shopping…Sam’s Club, Whole Foods, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby…all the places I save up for so we can do it in one day.

Terry goes to Home Depot, Sears, Western Implement, Sutherland’s ..it’s a busy big day when we make the trip.

Last night was just lovely

Evening-sky

And today even better…we plan on getting rid of all the trash today, changing water (always) and getting a few things done that are restful, not huge.

I hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday,

Linda

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer on Friday —Mom’s Shed

Since Dad is going to shrink the corrals and then expand the hay stack yard Dad decided the old granary had to either be torn down or moved.

Early yesterday morning…by first light…we all trouped out to the back of the farm yard to look at what Dad is interested in doing.

We all looked into the granary and then looked around the granary…Fuzzy and I were a little concerned because this is where our two ground squirrels like to live, Under the Granary.

Sam the cat went with us also.  He crawled here and there all over the corrals and in the granary.

Boomer and I just went in and sniffed around and looked at all the cool stuff Mom and Dad had stored in there.

Back in the house we all ate breakfast and I heard Mom say…Let’s Move it!

So right after breakfast we all trouped back out to see where to move it too!

Mom says she wants it some place where she can get to it and work on the repairs.

So we all walked down the feed bunk road to the end of the corrals to look things over.  Then we went into the corrals and over to the new shed to see if it would fit there, then we walked back to the end of the corrals.

Mom said she really like it at the end of the corrals…Dad looked and looked and then agreed.

Now the fun part started.

Getting-started

First the old corrals had to be removed, and then part of the old feed bunks, and then Dad went and got the tractor.

Moving-the-shed-1

This was really exciting!

Boomer and were told to get out of the way a couple of times because we were really interested in being part of this whole process!

Back-of-shed

After we got it there Mom pronounced, “Perfect!”

Shed

It was a good morning’s work.

Then Mom went back in to fix lunch and Boomer and I decided it was a good time to take a nap!

January 15, 2013

Yesterday was my birthday…I’m now 64 years old.

Birds-2

It always surprises me that I made it to anywhere after 50.  I don’t know why it does, but it does.

I can remember sitting in my desk in the first grade of school, the teacher, Miss Mable Howard, was talking about the 20th century ending and the 21st century beginning…I remember thinking that none of that makes any sense at all.

Then she talked about the year 2000, you have to do the math, but this was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 1955, the year 2000 was sooooo farrrrrr away that I couldn’t even get it to come into focus.  Since it was so far away I decided that I would make it to the age of 50, which was really, really, ancient and just let everything else take care of itself.

As the years progressed I would think about that little girl so long ago deciding to be fifty and then let every thing else just happen as it would.  Fifty seems like a real nice number, way back when.  It still does.

When I was fifty I lost my best friend/sister, my beloved Grandmother, and both my parents.  Strangely my life did end at the age of fifty.  Every year after fifty has been a surprise and a gift.  A year to treasure and be thankful for.  I am not sick, nor do I have beloved family or friends ill, what I have is a new year that my little 6 year old mind could not comprehend in 1955.

A gift of life.

Many of you have emailed me birthday wishes, which adds richly to my birthday.  My children and my grandchildren and my step-grandchildren have widened my life to a whole of completeness.  I have become the matriarch of our family, which still seems like an odd thing, but also a blessing.

Really, life is truly a circle and one we all get to rejoice in.

ME

This is me in 1951!  What a hoot!

Thank you each and everyone of you for helping enrich my daily world.

Linda
