horse-rock-art

This local rock art says:  “Little bitty turtle, says Thank-you to all  big helpers on big horse and little horse for knowledge on back up of computer.”  🙂  signs-on-rock-31.jpg(I now have a game plan and can proceed!  You have been most accommodating in helping me!  Thank you so Much! —See the mountain lion on the rock?  That’s me…I now know the way!  tee hee)

Today is Saint Patrick’s Day!!  March 17th!  On this day everyone, is always a little bit Irish!  But for real understanding of the most popular Catholic Saint go here.

Rolling

Terry finished rolling the old pinto bean ground.  Today we take a break.  Up-the-Crest

Yesterday, was uphill from sunup to sun down.

I finished raking the whole yard, all the of the farm yard buildings and the corrals.  Then in the afternoon Terry and I worked on tearing down and cutting up an old building, which was crumbling.  We were concerned that a huge storm would finish it off.  This meant moving all the stuff in the building, then the laborious process of dismantling and sawing up the wood.  The old barn wood we saved, but other than that we started making fire starter wood.

Today….we are tired.  Very.  So today we rest, sorta…I have that tedious thing to do call grocery shopping and Terry is working with a guy to do some back hoe stuff.

Rest

With much love,

Linda

All Together Now—FLAP!—Tuesday, January, 12, 2016

While I was waiting for the truck to dump, I noticed the birds were flocking together; I think it is called a murmuration.

Although, these birds were not Starlings, they were practicing the same art, as Starlings.

AHhhOkay, now!  Everyone here?  Ready, get set

MummerFLAP!  Raise those wings….now turn to the right

murmuration1Turn to the left…harder! Harder!  Break out a sweat!

murmuration2Now lift up and fly as high into the sky as you can

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer on Friday — Bean Harvest

Bean Harvest!  Dad and Mom sure have been having a hard time getting all those pinto beans out of the field.

1

First the belt broke on the auger (day one) so the hopper had to be emptied BY HAND from the combine into the truck.

That was a huge job.

Ready

Boomer and I took it seriously and stayed out of the way.

Bush

Besides it was really super-hot!  Super-hot like that just takes everything out of you.

Then everything was going along really good

Boomer and I were helping….

AHHHHHHHHH

right after supper the folks headed back out and it

Waiting

STARTED TO RAIN!

11

Rain is NOT good.

2

Everything grinds down to halt.

16

It messes up the whole works.

Dad said maybe by four this afternoon he can begin again…the rows of beans have to be dry, VERY DRY, to combine or the combine won’t pick up the beans.

Ends

The other sad thing about the rain is it rained on the hay.  Dad was going to bale first thing this morning, but now he can’t do that either.  Rained on hay is not good…rained on hay can ruin the protein of the hay.   Dad is up there checking out the hay to see how much damage occurred. 😦  (Maybe not much, as sometimes the rain will miss areas of the farm.)

Last-set-of-the-day

It was muddy enough Mom walked up to do the irrigation so we ALL walked with her…

all three of us…

every step of the way.

The rain helped cool stuff off so the evening was rather nice.

Well, back to work…it’s warming up so Boomer and I

Sleepthink we had better get some serious sleeping

MEEEEEEE

in before the work starts.

The 4010 is sick.  The hydraulic’s aren’t working very well.

Tractor-hospitalSo yesterday, Terry and a good friend of his, started helping the poor old Deere to feel better.  This tractor is one of the main workhorses of our small but might fleet.  Each one has a particular purpose, with this one being the tractor which has the loader on it.

Sick

The loader is another workhorse; used for so many things.

Today is wonderful…it is warm enough I am able to open the windows upstairs (where the rooms get unbearably stuffy and hot).  This where I keep my computer and tiny little office.

Just look at the beautiful sunlight shining on the Roubidoux Canyon!! You can see that our mesa, California Mesa drops off and then the canyon starts.

The wind is just now coming up, although it seems to be a warm wind.

My-fav

My favorite little spring time flower is blooming…I so enjoy these cheerful and bright little ‘weeds’!

Today I’m working in my yard, there are things I have been wanting to do — I’ve just been waiting for a nice day to do them in.

My wish is that this is a wonderful day for you, full of the perfect weather for your area, and you are able to accomplish whatever you set out to do—even if it is to rest.  Resting is very necessary; as much as work is.

Best Wishes My Friends,

Linda

Buena Vista and the Cottonwood Inn and Spa

Right after the Zip line tour we headed up to Buena Vista, Colorado.  The kids had given us two night stay at the Cottonwood Inn and Spa.  Because of the farm we thought we would do one stay in the summer and one this coming winter.

We went from extreme thrill to a haven of rejuvenation.

We had great food in Buena Vista, (the Inn doesn’t serve food) soaked and thought of nothing stressful, slept, got up soaked again. Then headed home.
