So, into the twilight

Where everything is big and large and full of the day’s last light.

Yes….Terry and I truly do find joy, in being out on the land.

The Light— clamoring for us to SEE!

Gradually falls into the night!

Where even our thoughts

Manifest as prayer

We are All Bits of Stardust — Monday, October 26, 2020

I love twilight

My maternal grandmother did too.

I called her Love Grandma.

Together, she and I would go walking in the velvet time,

Between day and night.

Or sit together (comfortably) in her kitchen [without any lights]

As the day turned to brilliant colors

And the air became like velvet.

It is still a magical time for me

A special time, no matter what the season,

A sacred time between ‘what was’

and what will become

A time of true magic

When the world holds it’s breath

Then everything disappears into stars.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

When the Dark Comes—Wednesday, July 20, 2016

Hot-Summer-NightOur days are growing shorter.

Not so very long ago the little birds woke-up just before 5:00 in the morning.  Now it is much, much closer to 5:30. Depending on the clouds it can even be closer to 5:45.

Look-to-the-skyThe sun sets around 8:35 or so in evening.

Hot-Summer-Night-4Our days are now 14 hours and 33 minutes long,  loosing time every day, bringing on the the night faster and faster.

Fence-and-sunsetI love the twilight, but I guess you know that by now.  I never feel a sense of abandonment or that elemental loneliness that some people feel as night rises from the earth.  What I feel is a soundless singing — a hushed exultation as the earth rests and the nocturnal animals and bugs wake

Passing-ThroughThe trees and plants sigh as they start their rest, while the air cools.   Then moon breaks forth in silver light, and the stars fling wide and wild across a deep velvet sky.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Nearing the Finish Line—Thursday, August 6, 2015

kI finished weeding the gardens last night…just as the sun set and twilight took over.

Now all I have to do is get the house in a good place (for me).

aAfter that — it’s time to just sit back and relax and enjoy our guests!

'Oh!  Surprisingly I still have Columbines blooming.  Usually by this time the heat has caused them to fade, set seed and preparing for next spring.  But here they are…big, bold and beautiful!

Off now to finish water the yard and getting the house in place.

Your friend,

Linda

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer on Friday—Priceless

StunningEvery night….

Every single twilight…

Twice a day….

Morning and evening…

Sometimes more…

walking-water

The always chore…

We head to the fields

Never leaving…

Always checking, moving and starting…

Picking up….

Filling…

Laying down….

Moving on…

Still-going-strongFuzzy rides…

Supervise…

Making sure it’s all done right.

OffBoomer stays…

Then gets bored…

five

Heads off for news…

Forgets to hear…

The call to come…

“We are heading home”…

When he does…

Coming!!!!The speed is great…. “

Wait for me, Mom!”….

Almost-backSHREEEEEEEEEEECH…

Boomer applies the brake!

Head-gate-cleaningWe’ve been really cold here.  Fuzzy has even had us sleeping inside.  THAT WORKS FOR ME!!!  It’s so cold Mom and Dad still wear their winter gear and so do Fuzzy and I. (To be honest with you I dread that shedding, panting hot weather, but Mom says she is ready for so warmth. 🙂 )

Sun-redLast night the sunset was stunning.  Mom was even late following Dad in because she had to hang on the ditch bank taking shots of the setting of the sun!  It was really cool.

But she CALLED me back and I came FAST, then we just sat there for-ever so long…geez.  Finally after about an eternity she took off and we zoomed home.

my-fuzMom doesn’t really go fast ‘cause Fuzzy would fall off.  Fuzzy’s balance isn’t very good anymore and he LOVES to stand up the whole way.  I’ve told him to sit down and hunker, but he just gives me a dirty look.  “I’ll stand until the day I die” he growls at me.

Shish….okay, Fuzzy.  Just say’n.

WOW-WOW

So after three eternities, when I could have been out there getting news, Mom finally drove in and brought us inside for the night.

Inside to sleep when it’s cold outside…heaven! (I like being outside when it’s warmer, but not now)

Inside to sleep with a dog treat!  PRICELESS!!!

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer on Friday — Night Work

Night work starts…well, at night!

Night-work-4

Sometimes not at night, but close to night,

Night-Work-2you know—

Night-Work-1dusk, or maybe it’s twilight, or the gloaming  or whatever you like to call it…evening!

Evening-1

Boomer says it’s really EVENING work…

Whatever it is it doesn’t matter…it starts when the day is ending.

Mom, Dad, Boomer and I go out and change the water.  We do this every day…Spring, Summer and Fall.  We ride or walk on the same fields, move the water through the same rows days after day after day.

I LOVE IT!!!!

Boom-on-a-ride

Sometimes we go to town…we have to ‘get stuff’ you know.  Gasoline, milk,

Townsometimes a hamburger treat for Boom and I —HEAVEN!

We are changing water more and more now…the water keeps getting cut back and it isn’t even June yet.

(Dad is real worried, but he can only do what he can do. — Boom and I wag our tails and give him lots of licks on his hand to try and help him relax)

We go with Mom and Dad all the time—– Early morning, Noon, Three in the afternoon, 6 at night and then at dark, so far we don’t have to go out in the middle of the night! But Dad says that is coming…like TONIGHT!!!!

Daily-walk-1

The dog cousins come at the crack of dawn for their daily walk.  We change water then. Well, really Dad changes water then and we just help.

Daily-walk-2

Then their Mom has to go to work.  She really never changes water…I don’t think she even knows HOW to change water.  But she doesn’t have too she does other nice stuff….like she loves ANIMALS and Tom the Turkey!!

That’s okay Hank’s mom knows how and she helps if Mom and Dad have to go somewhere and can’t be home at the ‘right time’!  We go with Hank’s Mom; of course Hank goes with us.  He loves to chase mice out of the siphon tubes.

Hank goes with Boomer and looks over the Chico hills, the sage brush areas, and even down in the slue smelling the news…in Hank’s case just seeing the news.  Boomer does all the smelling.

We’ve sure been having lots of wind…Dad says the wind dries things out…I’ll take this wind instead of the stuff we get in the winter—the so cold your face is wiped off your head wind…nope, give me a summer wind…keeps the bugs off a feller and ruffles the fur so ya don’t sweat so much.

With-Mom

Oh, have to go….Mom is calling for me to come—I don’t want to miss my ride.  I’ll have to stay home if that happens ‘cause I can’t run anymore.

See Ya!

Fuzzy

Night-3

What Is This?

Late last evening as we were finishing up the last set of water I happened to glance into the sky and saw this

It must be some sort of reflection of the setting sun on the near-by clouds, for sure it wasn’t a rainbow.

Rainbows occur with the sun behind you and the rain clouds before you.  But this was next too the sun, both of them in the west.

If we were in the months of either January or February I would say it was a sun dog, but this is August.

The sky is so amazing…many thing of wonder are in the heavens just like down here on the earth.  You just have to look for them.

Have a wonderful Sunday,

Linda
