I am so poor at taking photos of the hummingbirds, so I thought I would take a video!
They are a huge delight!

There is a feel in the air now — a feel of true fall —hovering out there, patiently waiting
Sliding little chilly fingers into the late night and early dawn
Testing, testing to see if Summer will push back —
The moon is almost full; filling the sky with moonshine, so brilliant the silver light reminds me of the sheerest cold of winter
We are losing the songbirds, one species at a time. Leaving us on the wind for warmer climates.
Still summer sings to me warming my days and early evenings; giving me time to prepare myself for winter’s dreary visit.
From my world to your heart,
Linda
We decided to go visit our daughter, son-in-law and the grandchildren last Thursday.
It was so much fun seeing where they now live and to get and visit the schools and see the town.
There is a dirt bike park across a short way…just perfect for quick rides here and there.
When we got ready to go, Linkin asked, if she could come home with us.
Lucky us we also got to have her best friend come stay also. They have been best friends from the first grade of school
When I saw this…………..I just had to take a photo!
It was just perfect.
Best Friends for ever more…they tell me.
And I believe them!
Love,
Linda
“Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.”–Roald Dahl
Going out to change the water last evening (just before another storm rolled in) I saw this amazing light formation.
Does anyone reading this know what it might be called? I did a search on the internet, but drew a blank.
The storm was in the west and this was in the east.
Any help will be appreciated it.
It was stunning, to say the least.
Love,
Linda
Coming in from the early morning irrigation…it was like looking into a dream–
A light summer rain moving away from us, fingers of light splashing across the fields, stroking the Uncompahgre Plateau…the air thick with ozone, the sky it’s very own arch of prism light.
Bird song filling the air, drowning out everything, but my pulse.
The earth, the sky, plants and water surrounding me — touching me gently.
How blessed I am!
From my world to your heart!

We had rain and thunder storms off and on yesterday, but today (so far) it feel all warm and sunny.
Today I must go out and weed! All this lovely wet weather has brought on bloom’s, weeds and the feeling of Fall.
The pinto beans are starting to get ripe. The yellow leaves are an indication. We will still keep watering them, as the beans in the pods need to fill out and swell the pods. Harvest looks like sometimes in September. But only time will tell.
The corn is starting fill out also—kernels are in the milk. Then they will be in the dough, after, which, it will be time to take the water off and let the corn dry down.
This is NOT sweet corn, but the corn you have for corn meal, cereal, and animal food.
Although, we are just starting the month of August the days feels more like September here. We are seeing weeds maturing like they usually do in September, and other weeds, which only start to grow the last part of August in full maturity.
(Storm over Grand Mesa)
It makes Terry and I wonder if we are going to have a early fall. Although, we could have a early freeze and then a long warmish fall, before winter actually sets in.
I guess only time will tell. Until then I’m going to enjoy every bit of summer we have left!
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
After the storms
The air has that feel of refreshment, joy, excitement; a party, of sorts, before the heat comes roaring back.
The birds call to one another…high and sweet
The morning air; wild and clean makes one’s soul leap with urgency
The plants are rested— they whisper to one another and to us, if we will just listen.
They sing of the earth; sharing it’s boundless joy.

We have had rain, lots and lots of beautiful wonderful rain. No wind, just rain, everything is soaked and laying flat from the rain…but we are not complaining.
Friday was my Mother’s birthday. If she were still alive she would be 87 years old. All that day I kept missing her.
Sometimes the rain felt like cold tears from heaven.
I think part of the reason is we have had too many animals deaths this year…first Balou
Then Molly Dog
And, of course Monkey our cat, and Hank the grandchildren’s dog.
Death is like a cold shadow; a cloud passing over head…sudden in its appearance, then passing quickly on.
Out of the corner of my eye, all throughout the day I caught swisp of visions…Momma in her garden, Momma laughing…the tail of one her cats she loved, moving just ahead of her…just things…long known, now gone.
Like smoke, everything was like smoke…tangible and real, but fading quickly.
I look at all these little gifts —these half-ghost memories of my Mother as small blessings.
From my world to your heart,
Linda
