New Water Line

from-the-house1

Last year the main water line to our house broke, leaving us with a $500 water bill and a huge job to fix.  Ever since that time Terry has been worrying about the water line to corral breaking….so before it could….

He hired our neighbor and his backhoe to come fix it.

What.A.Job!

First he had to move the carport.  He did this all by himself, with pipes and the trailer.  Since I was at work I didn’t see him do it (or help him) but when I got home, there it was-balancing on the trailer.

Terry had laid the pipe

Rhode Island Red Roosters

what

Aren’t they just the best?  They are gentle, kind to their hens (I have two roosters and 15 hens) and randomly try to be a bigger rooster than my husband and I.  So far they are still lower than us on the pecking order.

One of the roosters likes to stand up here and keep guard.  They really do a nice job of being a rooster!

Irrigation Water

the-canal-in-october

Our irrigation water is turned off and on yearly.  We start getting water as soon as someone calls for it, or for sure by March 30th

Then the last week of October it is turned off

Winter is sad and lonely without the sparkling sound of water flowing down the canal toward Grand Junction

Rain, Rain and More Rain

We have a storm coming in AGAIN!  I guess it is winter, oops late fall, but ….I really was enjoying the sun.  The storm is supposed to hit here this evening with blowing rain and snow.

This is the storm getting closer and closer to us.  You can see Hay Stack Mountain in the clouds.  Once the storm leaves the canyons, it will head our way….

Then to top all of that out, the neighbor’s spring’n heifers (20 in number) broke through the fence, we had to round them up and take them home.

But on a happier note, the cow that was down at Misty’s is experiencing ‘herd action’ again.  The baby thinks this is a big world and having a ball.

Meta Mae (Hill) Brown’s Table

folded-table

This is Terry’s grandmother’s table.  It came with them from Fort Scott, Kansas, to the farm we now live on.  (We bought the farm from the estate).

I fell in love with the lovely little table the very first time I saw it, but I had to wait for 35 years to buy it from Aunt Benita’s estate.

Now it lives in our house under the photo I inherited, from my mother, of my Great Grandmother, Grace Elizabeth (Hubbard) Wootton and my grandmother, Ruth Love (Wootton) Thomas.

The table is a neat little flip-over, with a snap to hold it open on one side.  I just love it!

I also find that I am attracted to the Victorian Era, so I thought the two would go well together.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving

I would like to wish each and every one of you a Happy Thanksgiving!  I would like you to know that I am Thankful for all the new friends I have made through blogging! I have really enjoyed getting to know all of my new blogging friends, their lives, and where they live.  I look forward to our stock market settling down, prosperity returning to our great land, and for each one of you to have great joy in each of your lives.

Looking toward 25 Mesa (the Uncompahgre Plateau) from our back door

Suddenly there appeared in the air a chariot of fire, with horses of fire, which, parting the two asunder carried up Elijah in a whirlwind to heaven. 2 Kings 2:1-11

After having a very long summer, and an even longer fall, I have reached a point whereby I need a break.  Starting Wednesday, November 26th

Terry and I are taking some time to do some ‘stuff’ that doesn’t include me going to work. I will return to regular routine December 1st

HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

THE MALL

One Week End We Went to the Mountains, Then Last Weekend THE MALL

mall

Although, you can’t tell from this photo, we went to the city….then to the biggest mall.  I have a tendency to claustrophobic with so many people around.  Not to mention how I hate to drive in large messes of traffic.

O’Malley

O’Malley came up to visit.  O’Malley is the new kitty living with Bladen and Linkin (and Tallen).

This little kitty was going to have her head bashed because the kids at the house were allergic; she now lives at the McCormick household.

omalley

Now Monkey did not think this was a good deal….to have a cute little kitty visiting, but she got over it.
