The Adventures of TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-RAT!!!!, Friday, March 5, 2021

I was in my box, just resting.

Well, kinda, sorta, maybe, not resting so much, but HIDING!

The mice had all gone to play all over the house…I took them everywhere.

One at a time.

One in the kitchen…grrrrrrrrrr kick, kick….bite

One in the bedroom…bat around, bat around

One upstairs, one here, one there, I think you understand.

Then I grabbed GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRiaff…he sounds like a bell.  I growl at him.

I was just getting GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRiaff taken care of when I saw a STRANGER(!) in the midst of everyone!

I jumped straight up in the air.

Then I ran into box again.

It was still there.

Just sitting!

I know what this is…no one told me, but I know.

IT IS A RAT!!!!

RATTTTTTTTTTTTTT!

I jumped out of the box right onto RAT!

Then I proceeded to KILL RAT!

I really worked RAT over—he rattles, which is rather cool.

I took care of RAT for such a long time that I was worn out.

Giving RAT one last swat I left him to his own devices

and hopped onto the sofa where Dad likes to seat (sleep) Shhhhhhhhhhhh

Sigh. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

One Step, Two Step, Away We Go —- Thursday, March 4, 2021

Terry finished digging out the headgate to the point rows and the horse pasture

The kids had their handprints in it :).  Evan (our son) is showing here.  1981 the headgate went in.

The point rows are gone!

Groundwork has begun!

Here he is disking up the corn stalks.

We are on our way!

The Moon is so Glorious — Wednesday, March 3, 2021

The moon is growing smaller each and every day now.  Shrinking from a great swollen ball hazed by a shimmer causing it to look gold as it rises into the sky.

There (as luck would have it) were the Sandhill Cranes etched sharply in the newly minted silver of the moon.

What a gift!

What a marvelous gift…the moon and the Sandhill cranes.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

A Wonderful Omen, a Wonderful Gift — Tuesday, March, 2, 2021

Hi there!

Here is a double rainbow we saw today after a thunderstorm this afternoon staying with friends in St George, Balonne Shire, southern Queensland.

It was definitely the sign of a blessing; St George is on Stage 4 water restrictions, and our friends drink rainwater. The rain of the past 2 days has replenished their tanks.

Stunningly beautiful!  All green and wet and full of blessing!

Thank you, Kate!

I just love receiving gifts of rainbows from everyone.  They are a walk-together-in the rain.

It Won’t Be Long Now — Monday, March 1, 2021

It won’t be long now

When the Sandhill Cranes will start to gather together in even larger flocks

Gathering to start their journeys back to the breeding grounds

The migrations will begin around March 10th

With around the week of March 20th where we will see that largest flocks

Winging overhead.

Then the large number of flocks will start to thin

So, by the first week in April,

They have left us.

To grace those who live close to their breeding grounds.

Until then

I will enjoy (and I hope you do also) their glorious selves streaming through the clouds,

And hanging about on the farm.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

And There—Over There—Shimmering in the Haze, Sunday, February 28, 2021

Softly, softly

Shimmered above the Uncompahphare Plateau

Softly, slowly, dropping into the Plateau’s embrace

Dazzling the lovely morning light

The shimmering radiance rippling throughout the sky.

A wondrous dance of jubilation gracing the earth and my eyes.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The Adventures of Mindy on Friday— Adjusting, Sorta, Kinda, Friday, February 26, 2021

I’m adjusting.

Sorta.

Kinda.

I really don’t like that kitten.  He wants to pounce on me ALL THE TIME.

Which, does NOT go over, Thank you very much.

“SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”  With teeth bared and my claws out.

(Although, I know not to really hurt that thing.  I always look at Mom or Dad to show them I am just being the boss.)

Anyway.  I still live my life as if TLC Cai-Cai doesn’t exist.

I do lots of hunting.

I bring mice to Mom so she can have one with me…

although I eat them, she just pets me and tells me what an excellent job I do.

I sleep in the house on MY chair, have great kitty snacks, a drink of milk, now and again. And toast by the fire.

All this is good.

And—

When Dad is outside (which is lots of time)

I make sure I am WITH him!

Dad says I am the perfect helper.

I think so too!

Back When We had Snow — Thursday, February 25, 2021

The cold snow was just beautiful, I thought

The shadows brightening

The earth with the weak sunlight

Tangling in the tree branches.

Speaking of tangles tree branches…LOOK a Great Horned Owl.

In the Dazzling Light of a Late Winter Day —Wednesday, February 24, 2021

Terry is creating a new portion to one of our fields

Extending the field so it becomes a rectangle—taking away point rows

Point rows are hard to work with.  A point row is a short row that starts at a slant going from long to shorter.

Having all the rows the same length makes for all tractor/combine and human work ever so much better.

No Matter What, It is still February —Tuesday, February 23, 2021

Even though the sky is a brilliant blue

This time of year doesn’t take long for thick clouds to blow in from the west

And a person can smell snow or frozen mix in the air.

We, also,  have Sandhill Cranes, instead of cows, gleaning the fields. 🙂
