Ah—-How I love the Glow of the Sun —- Monday, February 24, 2025

I love how it breaks up the Uncompahgre Plateau Range

Or the morning light fills the cracks and crevices on the Uncompahgre Plateau

Or gifts us with a Sundog or is that a rainbow?

And there there is the light through birds’ wings!

Light!  Sunshine!  Who can ask for more?

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-Our Thoughts on Winter, Friday, February 24, 2023

The wind came. (see my ruffled fur)

And the slick ice

and the mud

And then another round of snow

Then more wind. (See the wind in our hair)

Mom says it’s the end of February and all this won’t last. She says it will probably be here until the middle of March, and it will just go away!

We sure hope mom is right.

WATER!!!! Thursday, February 24, 2022

The whiteness of the snow presses on our eys

And lights up our hearts!

The silence is profound

Our land is alive again

Filled with hope and promise

Snow!

YAY!  The most we have had in a long time!

I walked all around in it this morning

6″ is a huge amount for us!  Six WET inches of WATER!

In the Dazzling Light of a Late Winter Day —Wednesday, February 24, 2021

Terry is creating a new portion to one of our fields

Extending the field so it becomes a rectangle—taking away point rows

Point rows are hard to work with.  A point row is a short row that starts at a slant going from long to shorter.

Having all the rows the same length makes for all tractor/combine and human work ever so much better.

The Absence of Mooing —- Monday, February 24, 2020

Just like people

Cattle move on their stomachs

Easy peasy!

See ya’ in the winter!

Winter Came Visiting Once Again—-Sunday, February 24, 2019

We had winter all over again…it roared in Friday night complete with a nasty wind

Then Saturday we started a small but delightful warm-up

Mindy cat didn’t mind, she scampered blithely through the snow as I went about my daily work

The sun dazzled on the whiteness whenever it broke through the clouds

We had many little hungry tummies at the feeders

Pressing close to the seed cakes the Red-Winged Blackbirds dwelled, lingering, gathering energy to make it through the bitter cold which followed.

We woke up to 10*f (12c) weather this morning.

Still, it was beautiful!

Today we are to experience MELT with the temperatures rising to 40* f (4.4c) or so this afternoon.

Our world will be trickling water and patchwork fields and roads will appear.

There is a rumor, put forth by the weather people, that we will see 50*f (10c) weather and rain in just a few days!

I’m am excited just at the thought of it.

SPRING IS COMING!  I just know it!!!

Write It on Your Heart—-Wednesday, February 24, 2016

..*◞◜•❥◝◟*✿*◞◜•❥*

I collect rocks.  •*¨*•♥  I know…I’m a shameless rock hound.

For those times people ask me what I want for a present (i.e. birthdays and Christmas) I always say rocks.  🙂

I have some very beautiful rocks. And I have boxes of ‘gravel’ rocks the grandchildren have ‘found’ for me.  Rocks they picked up walking home from the bus stop, or when they were out helping us irrigate or pull weeds in the bean field.   .•❥*◝◟¸*  Those are (also) beautiful rocks–gems of the rarest kind.

Rocks speak to me, you see.  They tell me about time…time eons ago.  They measure time ….stopping time, so to speak.  They keep time from flying away, from departing, from ending.  ~♥~

Yesterday I decided I wanted to somehow display my rocks, so I had my boxes and boxes of rocks out going through them; thinking about how to bring them from their containers and into the our daily lives.

And there it was…Rock-Heart

A heart shaped rock!

“Write in on your heart ❤, that every day is the best day of the year.”–Ralph Waldo Emerson `*.¸.*´

Some days it is very hard to remember to do so, but do it anyway.  Then, as time moves forward, when you look back you will start to see the heartbeat within the turmoil.

February Ends with a Bang–Tuesday, February 24, 2015

Snow-1

The weatherman says these snow storms are going to stay in here for a good solid week.Snow-2 With snow levels increasing to 18″ or more in some places.  We have 8″ right now.Snow-3The nice thing about this late snow is it won’t last…the warmth will return and the winds from the west will arrive.  Until then we hunker down.

Your friend,

Linda

We had another winter storm come in, complete with wind and drifting snow…I guess I really should expect it since IT IS FEBRUARY!

Snow-1

Some of the farmers, around here, started plowing…now they have a mess.  Plowed up ground is like a huge sponge, then when it drys out (finally) it is just as hard and brittle as a dried out sponge.

Snow-2

Water is still an issue, although the snow pack should have grew some with the last several storms —- the last we heard snow pack was 77% of normal.  Still a ways to go to normal, but much improved.

Usually the water is turned on the last week of March, but not this year — they will turn it on the third week in April and then at only 50% of your allotment.  Of course, you still pay for the 100% you are entitled too.  Our water bill is higher than our taxes, go figure.

Goose

As I am writing this the sun is starting to break through the clouds, always a good feeling.

Yellow-Sky

I hope you enjoy your Sunday.
