The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—Fuzzy

I’ve been thinking, Boomer.

Fallen-4

What, Fuzzy?

I’ve been thinking about life, Boomer.  Life and all the good things that make up life.

I like to think about life also, Fuzzy.  What are you thinking?

Just this—If I could give you the gift of my years I would tell you to:

Fallen-2

  • Never turn down a ride in the back of the pick-up
    • Oh! You are so right, Fuzzy. There is nothing like the wind in your ears and the ruffle of the air on your fur…like the ride in the back of the pick-up
  • Don’t forget riding with Mom on the four-wheeler. It’s the best.  She goes slow enough we can always smell the smells and see the sights and….
    • And Never worry about falling off, Fuzzy!
    • Right, Boom, we are always safe with Mom.

Hummmm

  • Cats are okay….even if I like to keep Sam-Sam from eating out of my dog dish—I still pretty much like him.
    • Me too, Fuzzy, me too!
  • The really fun things to do are barking the mailman and the FedEX man and the UPS man down the lane. Helps Mom and Dad know we are guarding the place and lets them know we are the boss.
    • And all the trucks coming in for hay.
    • Oh, Yes I forgot about the hay people. You are right!
  • Don’t forget helping Mom with the leaves…leaves are fun…it is fun to run and bark in the leaves while Mom works.
    • It is Fuzzy, it is!

There is just so much I would like to tell you, Boom, but I think you know.

I think you know.

Fallen-2

Please let Mom know also, Boom.  It’s been wonderful here on the farm with Mom and Dad and you, my Buddy.My-Fuzzy-Dude-Brown

Oh, Fuzzy…How do Mom and I go on?  How?

Fallen-3

One day at time…that is all you can do.

Good bye- my Friend, Good Bye.

best-friends-for-ever-more-

Fuzzy passed away today, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 am. He died in my arms with Boomer lying next to the dog bed.  We are devastated.  All of us…  Terry, Myself, Boomer and the cats.

Thank-you for loving Fuzzy as much as we have.  I will be back Sunday or Monday or Tuesday…I need some time right now.

Friday Adventures will continue with Boomer and myself, for life goes on, albeit much more lonely.Fuzzy 006

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—GO!

YIPPEE!   WHOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!  We finally got to go with Mom to the other house!

At-the-other-house

(this is the other house)

I was sure afraid that Fuzzy and I would never ever get to go again.  Mom said I was naughty the last time I was down there—naughty only in her mind…that really yucky smelly dead thing was just perfect for a good roll and rub, but she didn’t see it that way.

Then she banished me from EVER going down to the other house ever again!

I think she really meant it too.  She and Dad went down there tons of times and just left Fuzzy and I here.  So I started trying to win Mom over…

YAY

I would do the Beagle Prance and walk ahead of her to the pick-up…nope didn’t work.  Then I would follow her to the pick-up and look at her with pleading Beagle eyes…nothing.  She just looked at me and shook her head no, got in and drove off.

HurryThen I talked Fuzzy into begging…he’s pretty good at it…he just sits right by the door and politely doesn’t  let mom get in.

That didn’t work either.

After putting our heads together we decided that we would just sit on the sidewalk and look pathetic.Heading-out

AND IT WORKED!

Mom loaded us up on the four-wheeler and off we went.  I had to stay inside, but that’s okay.  We were with MOM!Going-to-other-house

After that we got to go every time…to take the vacuum and the big ladder down, or just to go watch Mom paint.  She talks to us while she paints and we listen real close.  Until Fuzzy gets sleepy then he naps.  I stay with her in the house or I would go check around and see if that yummy yucky stuff is still there.  Mom says I have to stay in the house with her.  Okay, I will, just as long as I GET TO GO!

Other-House

So far so good!

Perfect

Checking My List—Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Heading-outI let the dogs go with me to the other house!  I know, I know, I said Boomer couldn’t go anymore, but ….I just felt so sorry for him….those sad beagle eyes you know.

So off we went…then while I was there he had to come inside while I worked at painting the coat closet.  He didn’t mind, although Fuzzy said he preferred sitting outside on the step in the sunshine.

This house is almost where I want it to forget it for a spell, all I have to do is mop (!) then I’m done for a time.

Rose-of-fallI also took our ballets in to the court house…there—- we have voted!  YIPPEE!!

Now we just wait to see how the vote turns out.  I really like this mail in voting…no standing in line—get your ballet- think about what you want to see happen, color in the square…put everything back in the proper envelopes, sign and date the back, then either walk it in and put it in the voting box or mail it.  DONE!

Ending-of-the-day

Tomorrow I should finish up this houses’ to-do list and maybe get closer to finished INSIDE the other house.  I would really like to get the trim and the fences done before the weather turns bad.  I would also like to be done down there, before the corn harvest starts.  I looked back over my blog and we started the 5th of November last year.  That’s not to far off now.  Although, it depends on the moisture of the corn…one year we were clear to Christmas before we got done, not being able to start until after Thanksgiving.  I sure hope we don’t have another year like that!

With joy in my heart and a song on my lips–the list is shortening every day!

Coming Together—Tuesday, October, 21, 2014

decorations-1.jpgYesterday was a good day.  I made huge strides on getting some of the very long list done.  There is a certain satisfaction of looking at a list and either crossing off something or putting a check mark by it.

YAY!!!!

Today was “take Boomer in to the vet” for another ear check-up.  So far so good.  One ear is well, and the other one looks like it’s just about there.  Happy Dance for both Boomer and I!!!

Storm-arrivingA storm blew in last night —we had a sprinkle of rain, but nothing here (so far).

We got the irrigation pump and the sprinkler system winterized…I got some more things done down at the other house…and I got most of this house clean.

The joy of seeing a list shrink is a true joy!

Your friend,

Linda

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—a Small Hike

Mom and Dad were tired of working on the house, and Boom and I were tried of DOING NOTHING!!!

Desert

So Dad said, “Let’s go out to the desert and do a Walk About….Who knows what cool stuff we will get to see.”  Boomer yelled, “AND SMELL! COOL STUFF TO SMELL!”

We loaded up and headed out.  It was a BLAST!  Although, Mom and I didn’t walk very fast Boomer and Dad had a great time.

Ruts

We saw the ruts left from years and years ago when the freighters from Grand Junction would haul in supplies to the canyons areas and to Delta. It was always hard going if the desert was wet…clay soil is a tough thing to pull/walk/stove through.  The desert got the name ‘Stinking Desert’ because the freighters dreaded the haul so much—“We have to head off through that Stinking Desert,” they would say.   Over time the name just stuck…sort of like the wagons…tee hee!

End

We walked under the highway into the cement tunnel—which is really to carry the flash flood water under the highway instead of over the highway and wash the road out.

Slime-Water

On the other side of the highway is a pond of SLIME WATER!

Even I didn’t like the slime water and I adore water!!!

Sparkles

After that we went back to the pick-up and headed into Delta.  In Delta we went to Confluence Lake and walked around there for a spell.  That was nice.  Boomer found a dead fish, but Mom wouldn’t let him near it. (Boomer pouted all the way back to the pick-up)

Nght

We got home as the sun was sinking into the horizon.  Boomer and I agreed it sure was nice to go for a little ride after all the days of waiting for Mom and Dad to finish down at the other house.   Mom and Dad both said that was refreshing.

And you know something?  I agree.  A little change of pace is always a good thing.

Fuzzy

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—Boomer Turns Nine

UpBoomer is nine (9) NINE YEARS OLD this month! He has lived with me, er us, for four years now!  I just think that is the best thing ever!!!

EVER!!!

IgnoreBut the bad thing is Boomer isn’t feeling good.  He’s been having ear problems since the Cheat Grass went to seed.  He even had to have his ear washed out and lots and lots of medicine.

Mom took Boom to the Vet yesterday and had to have a whole new round of ‘stuff’.

Sigh!

I told Boom, we were a pair, him and I.  I can’t walk very well because of my back legs and he doesn’t walk very well because he is always shaking his head.

Hopefully the medicine take effect quickly and this time Boomer gets well.  Feeling good is a very nice thing.

Sleep-3It’s been raining here and cold.  When Mom and Dad are home and not down at Misty’s old house we ALL STAY INSIDE BY THE FIRE!!!!

It’s a very nice thing.

Sleep-1

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT IS THE NICEST?!?!

Watching the cats!

Wakng-up

HAHAHAH  Sharing is not their strong suit!

Doing stuff like that gets them put outside Fast.

You would think they would learn!

Silly fur balls!

My-Wonderful-Fuzz

Boomer and I just laugh at them!

Fuzzy

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—Banished

The-BoomI just don’t get it!  I really don’t!

Sometimes Mom is just sooooooooooo  mean!!

Pout, pout!!

Why?  What’s the deal, Boomer?  You look just fine to me.

It’s MOM, Fuzzy!  She is a real Meany! She doesn’t play fair…Mom is…just plain WEIRD!!!!!!

Hummm, I’ve never thought that, what happened to make you so upset Boom?

Well, yesterday, you know when we went down to the other house —Dad was under the floor crawling around working on that furnace duct work and Mom was painting…and you were sleeping on the step close to Mom.

Yeah…sleeping in the sunshine.  That was real nice.

Well…I decided to go sniff around and see what sort of new was down there.  First I went up to the apricot tree…

*grey ground squirrels….lots of storing of nuts and stuff going on

*the bunnies are starting to get on their winter fur…they are REALLY fluffy

* the baby quail look like teenagers….I had a great time laughing and giggling with them

Then I trotted on over to the old orchard…not much news there.  Then the wind came up….

SSNIFF!!!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I headed over the hill by the old orchard and squiggled myself down through the Sage and Chico brush and FOUND IT!!!

OH! YIPPEE!!!  A TRUE DELIGHT!

It was wonderfully ripe and squishy and goopy and well…JUST PERFECT!!!

I rolled all over in it—first my neck, then I scrapped my throat through it, that felt so good—I laid down and gave myself a really nice back rub ALL OVER MY BACK—from the top of my head to the base of my spine…it was a great massage in the most perfect of massage oils.

After that I got up and decided to walk in the remains, of what I’m not sure, I squished the squeaky goo up into my toes; wiggling each toe so I could feel the whole nasty  wonderful slop way up into the pads of my feet.

It was marvelous!  Then I thought I would check the wonder smell out a little more so nosed around in it seeing if I missed any more slime.  Nope, just a drop or two that was all. I was lucky to get the stuff all over my snout and even around my eyes on the top of my forehead!

Shoot! I was done.  But, OH WELL!!! It was Heaven while it lasted.

I headed back to the house…there you were just dozing away in the sun all stretched out taking in every warm ray of light…Dad must be under the house for the lawn was littered with pipe and whatever it was he was doing…where is Mom?

OH!!! THERE YOU ARE MOM!!! YIPPEE!!!  See what I have and what I brought back for you!!  IT’S MORE THAN WONDERFUL, MOM!  IT’S PERFUME OF THE GODS!!   I trotted right up to her — she had her back to me painting on the window trim of the house; I figured she would smell me and turn around.

She didn’t right at first…shish. Mom just turn around!  Instead she started talking to herself… “Whew!  Something really stinks around here.  UGH!  I wonder if something died in the hedge.”

“Oh, Hi! Boomer-bee”, she said as she reached down to pet me!

“Gag, swallow erup!  BOOMER YOU STINK!!!!

“Oh nooooo, Boomer!  What did you find! Gag, gag…urp!”

Oh, Mom, it’s really cool isn’t it?  It’s just wonder—-

“GAG! Boomer!  You can NOT come down here again!  You always seem to find something nasty to roll in!  As soon as we get you home you are getting a bath!  GET!  Get over there until I get done and DO NOT Move!”

Then, Fuzzy, she marched herself right in to the house and told Dad that I HAD TO WALK HOME.  She was going to clean up her painting stuff and walk me home so she could clean ME up!

Sigh.

Oh well…I get to have my perfume until we get home! HAHAHAHA

I wondered why you didn’t ride back with Dad and me.  I looked for you and Mom but you didn’t get into the truck with us so I just enjoyed myself without you.

Mom and I walked home, Fuzz!  She wasn’t very happy about it because she had to walk carefully in the mud on the field roads, but we made it!  She walked on the weeds and I walked wherever I wanted too.

There was a brisk little breeze blowing!  We had to walk up for a spell, then we had to walk left for a spell, then we had to walk down for a spell, then we had to walk left again for another spell, then we had to walk down into the farmyard.  You know how the roads go, Fuzzy.

On the way I decided that Maybe, just MAYBE if I gave Mom a chance to REALLY smell me, by the time we got home she would love the perfume as much as I do and let me keep it.  So if the wind was blowing into us I made sure to walk in front of Mom, if it was blowing a different direction I walked so the wind caused the odor to waft right into Mom’s nose!

I thought it was a very good plan!

Although, it didn’t work!   As soon as we got home Mom got out her Dog washing supplies and started scrubbing me down with soap, and peroxide and lots and lots of warm water.  It TOOK FOREVER!!

Yep, about an hour, Boom.  I watched.

Then she took me into the house and put me IN THE BATHTUB!!! MY GOODNESS!!  I am the cleanest dog in the whole wide world.

HAHAYeah, you are, Boomer!  But you got to sleep inside last night.  Dad said if you had just one little faint smell you had to sleep out in the dog house.

Yes, and Mom said I can’t ever go down to the other house with her now, because this is the second time in three weeks I’ve found something nasty to roll in.

SighI guess you will just have to get used to not going down there, Boomer.

I guess, Fuzzy.  I just don’t get people sometimes.  They really don’t understand aroma and the adjoining slush that goes with a really good find.

Nope they don’t, Boomer.  No, they don’t.

Sigh!

Boomer

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—The Waiting Begins

Yep, THE waiting begins!

Boo Waiting, not for Fuzzy and I but for MOM and DAD.  They have to wait you see, not Fuzzy and I.  We do lots of waiting as it is:

WaitingWe wait on the four-wheelers LOTS!

Big-SmileWhat Dad and Mom are waiting for is the corn to dry down and the moisture content to get JUST RIGHT so the Corn Harvest can begin!!!

Turning-off-the-head-gateThe last set of the water happened.

Last-waterThe head-gate is now turned off.  Unless everything gets really bone dry before the canal is turned off there won’t be another set of water on the farm until next spring.

FallFall is in the air…the Rabbit Brush is rich and full and lush— the bees are working the flowers heavily!

One-last-timeThe Upper End and the Back Forty just screams AUTUMN!

Evening-and-the-cornFuzzy and I like this time of year.  It’s not so hot it’s hard to breathe and there is lots of stuff to sniff and smell.  The animals are moving around now getting ready for winter.  We like to smell what they are up too.

Just last night a Momma deer ran across the ditch bank road right in front of Dad and Mom and Fuzzy and I!  It was so COOL I had to bay at the deer.

Mom jumped… “Boomer…not in my ear!  You scared me!”  She said and then she laughed and so did I.

Fuzzy thought it was a funny also!

Sitting-in-the-sunBack home we saw Sammy Sam absorbing the heat from the big shed doors.

“Oh, you are back”, he said then turned his head away and closed his eyes.

Oh well, Boomer.   Sammy is just not interested in riding four-wheelers.

Works for me Fuzz!

Hey Fuzz?

Yeah?

Sleepy

What’s with cats?  They sure seem to sleep a lot.

I don’t know, Boomer.  That’s just a cat for you!

Well…THANKFULLY we are NOT CATS, Fuzzy!  The world is waiting and you and I are ready to see it!

MineChuckle, smile! It’s good to be a dog, isn’t it Boomer?

Smiles

It sure is, Fuzzy!  It sure is!

Boomer

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—As Good as it Gets

You know there are just some things that are way out there funny!

Well, at least Boomer and I think so.

HummmYou see there has been a sort run on the farm with the raccoons.  None of us really do anything about them-Heck Boomer and I like to sniff their tracks and try to guess what they are up too.  Mom and Dad just make comments to each other… “Oh look, the raccoons have been walking down the gated pipe”!

Sometimes the raccoons will come in the yard and try to find dog food to eat, but Mom always picks up all the dog food every night.  If we sleep outside Boomer and I bark at them, but if we don’t sleep outside all we can do is, well, sniff their tracks.

Any hoo…Janson wanted to catch a raccoon….I don’t know why…I never heard, but he wanted a raccoon.  Dad told Jason he could put a trap up by the equipment area and see what happens.  Dad said he knew there were lots of raccoons up there because of all the signs.

Every day for three weeks Jason and Shannon went up to check the trap, morning and evening….nothing.

Every day.

Morning and evening.

For three weeks.

Nothing, nada…zipp!

On the third week one evening Jason decided that it was useless so he would just go get the trap and take it home.

UpUp they went.

BackBack they came.

Then THREE hours later…..HAHAHAHAHBoomer and I had a huge laugh about that!!!!

The-BoomMom sent the photos over to Jason and Shannon, who could resist showing it to them!!

HAHAHAH those raccoons are pretty darn clever, don’t you think?

Happy-Fuzzy

Fuzzy

Two Photo Gifts from Two Different Friends—Tuesday, September 16, 2014

One year, I think two years ago, Cully Ray sent me a delightful Christmas Present; a photo of her dearly departed Australian Shepherd, Robert.

Here is what she wrote:  ” I have to tell you Fuzz really looks like my line of Aussies – and I am partial to the plain tri-colors (Red or Black). Everytime you post a picture of him, I just want to kiss his face!  LOL

Robert-Cully's-Dog

I am attaching a picture of my boy, Robert (I lost him two years ago – I know he’s waiting at the Rainbow bridge for me)…
Have a wonderful Holiday!!
love and hugz and Blessings!
Cully”
4Fuzzy 006
She is so right.  Every time I look at her Robert I do see Fuzzy.  It’s really nice to know what type of dog he might be—My vet says Border Collie and Chow-Chow,  another vet told me he was part Sheltie and Border Collie.
Fuzzy really is a very good dog!
Elk
Sometime ago OneFly sent me this photo: “This is not a great picture by any means, but it shows a coyote that was almost on top of this hurt elk.
The photo was taken just south of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The magpies are just waiting for their chance after the coyote.
My bud, Kevin, who works right there said the elk survived at least enough to move on.”
I’m glad the elk was able to move on.  I hope it made it.  I am NOT a fan of coyotes…sorry!  If you are that’s fine, as for me–-I’m not.
I thank Cully Ray and Onefly for sharing with me photos of their lives, and allowing me to share them with you.  This wonderful world of the internet has given all of us an tremendous gift of friends both near and far!  I appreciate each and everyone of you!
OrangeRemember if you have have a photo that you would like for me to share with my readers I would be delighted to do so. It might not be immediately as I have several waiting to be posted.  I posting every Tuesday in the order that they arrive to me.
I WILL post them and I WILL link back to you with credit for your photo. 🙂
