The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— The Game I Hate

I go with Mom and Dad to do the water, all the time, I mean we go ALL the time.

There is still lots of trash in the water…

sticks, weeds, corn leaves,

things like that.  And if it blows…the wind, not the water…there is even more trash.

I ride on the back of the four-wheeler, mom driving,

Dad leading the way to change water and check the screens for trash!

WHEE!  Bay!  HOWL!!!  JOY!!!!

At night, although I sleep inside, I go outside randomly to see what’s happening here and there and everywhere.

I sometimes go by myself, and sometimes with Mom—Mom and I take a walk at least once a night.

We are always doing something.

Mindy and I do ‘stuff’ together also.  She likes to rub her whole body under my chin purring the whole time. Or taking naps together.

But the thing I hate worse than anything there is in the whole-wide everything…is the  CATCH THE KITTY game!

Which means…Mindy, Min-Min Lou comes up to me, rubs me under the chin, walks off like she wants me to follow her…

then gets that playful look on her face, (she knows I coming right behind…I mean like, get real…I’m right there ready to go exploring with her) and

she raises her back into an arch…then leaps up and runs off.  I give chase, she runs faster.  Finally, I stop.

She looks back and collapses on the ground– rolling around in the dirt with laughter.  She knows I can NOT ever run fast enough to CATCH THE KITTY!

Believe me…this is NOT a nice game!

As Dawn Lightens the Sky and Evening Comes—-Thursday, April 5, 2018

We begin…”Why do we start so early?” Terry asks, although he knows the answer.

There is just so much to do.  Even if we don’t have the care of animals, we do have the care of the land.

The leaves are beginning to unfurl ever so slowly on the trees….first the cottonwood pushes off the little yellow sticky covers, the blooms burst forth (along with the pollen) and finally…if one looks closely the little tips of leaves are starting to appear.

It’s cold again (actually still–we had a couple of really nice days, but not right now.)

Look at the trash coming out of the canal

Masses of stuff.

My yard is the same way…all the corn leaves flew into the yard over the winter making lovely covers on everything.  Also making debris come spring, which I must now remove for the gently growing bulbs to spiral up into the spring air.

The little birds are all puffed up keeping warm….they, like us, are ready for warmer weather (although we are NOT having snow like some of you…my heart goes out to you waiting for melt and warmth!)

I am a person who believes in mysteries, in secrets of the Universe, and in the magic of the common daily existence

For you see, I see it each and every day, but ‘specially on that day when we start water on the land…then I can see and feel the heart of the earth beating, slow, incessant, humming —-pulsing—throbbing, throughout the day and into the night—all through the night and back into the day…

Reflecting into the sky, where it is manifested for all to see.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

CANAL is FULL!–Thursday, April 2, 2015

Yesterday was a very busy day and full of lots of new things.

sundog.jpg

First rattle out of the box I saw a sundog or sunshine on ice crystals in the sky.  Sundogs mean cold weather is coming…and SOON!

Today is cold.  It’s supposed to get colder, then by Sunday (Easter Day) we will start another slow warm-up.

Trash-MovingAround noon the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users worker bees showed up (Ditch Riders), which meant the canal was filling up with water.  The above photo show us the HUGE amount of trash which collects in the canals over winter.

TrashAbove this tree is our ditch rider, in a backhoe, trying to take out as much of the trash as he can so the bridge will carry the water.

You can see by this photo that the trash is thinning down.

Clear-sort-ofThere clean…sorta!

Then I saw this on a blog friend’s site and thought it was cool.  I also thought all you would find it interesting  (if you don’t already know).

Sota makes a person wonder if a big change really is about to happen, doesn’t it?

We are supposed to have high winds this afternoon (to blow in the cold front) and then again on Saturday and possibly Sunday to blow out this cold front.

Off now to keep working on my yard…what a huge mess it is this year.  I hope each and everyone of you have a really nice day!

Your friend,

Linda

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer on Friday — The Earth Ditch

Fuzzy and I have been helping Mom and Dad.

Fuzz-and-Wind

You can tell it was really windy the last few days by looking at Fuzzy’s fur.

Wind

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh……really Fuzzy helps…I like to run around and see what I can see and sniff what I can sniff and eat dried out milk duds and well…

I (harrumph) I have LOTS TO DO!

We had snow and cold and wind for two days, in fact it is still cold!  Mom is having us sleep inside, although Fuzzy really doesn’t want too….BUT I DO!!!!!

Mom told Fuzzy when the nights warm back up we can go back out to our covered and snuggly warm dog houses, but until then she would prefer old arthritic dogs and thin-furred dogs to sleep inside.

SO WE GET TO SLEEP INSIDE!!!

YIPPEEE!

Oh.

Well, while Mom and Dad have been busy and Fuzzy has been in charge of the four-wheeler I’ve been checking things out.

Our-Hay

The hay is starting to look nice…Dad will mark it out and start water when he gets done with the corn ground (soon).

Trash-at-the-headgate

The trash has been horrible in the ditches and in the canals…

Here is the trash at the head gate

Trash-1

Dad cleaning out trash in one of the ditches

Piles-of-trash

And piles of trash already cleaned out along the canal

Wind does most of the trash and winter…winter knocks down lots and lots of weeds that the wind loves to carry here and there.

Dam-on-an-earth-ditch

Dad started water in the earth ditch.  We have more than one earth ditch, but this is the biggest and the longest and takes the most work

Set-tubes

Dad uses siphon tubes in the earth ditch…works just like siphoning gas out of a car tank….just saying.  Dip the tube in the water, hold the other end closed, pump several times, fling the tube into the just dug out little furrow and BAM!

Setting-tubes

Water!

Works every time…unless Mom is doing it and she has to work at it a bit longer than Dad.Earth-Ditch Just saying.

Killdear

I saw a killdeer…he wouldn’t look at me, but at least he stood still.  I was really good and didn’t chase it…I don’t chase things, not even rabbits.

People say I’m a weird Beagle, Mom says I’m perfect!

(SMILE 🙂 )

Range

The sun set last night flinging color all over the San Juan Mountain Range…pretty cool.

Well, Fuzzy and I are off to go check out the yard and bark HELLO over to Hank…I see he is outside his fence now. (Hank stays in the house most of the time with the little kids).

I want to find out what is happening with him!

See Ya!
