About Dayphoto

My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! The lovely thing about blogging it opens the world up for all of us to reach out and meet people from many different cultures and different ways of life. You can find me every day (but Saturday) at https://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/ Your Friend on a Western Colorado Farm, Linda Brown

Where at least I know I"m free,

And I won't forget the men who died,

Who gave that right to me."---Lee Greenwood, "Proud to Be an AMerican"

So very, very much!

To all of those who have served I humbly Thank you.

Loch-Colorado-Farm-MonsterThe Monster at the Loch of Colorado Farm. He resides within the Standing Stones Garden.

1Everything comes at a price, they say.  Everything.

3But I wonder:  Does it have to be in pain, and sweat and tears!

Can’t the price be hope, and joy, and the belief in well-being?

4

Can’t it come through that most profound emotion called Love?

5

Why NOT approach everything in the belief that there is a stream of well-being in the world and be part of that stream?

Bird

I love the coolness and the sudden sense of relief the second I arrive in that place of “letting go”.   The letting go place is soothing, calming, and (to be very honest) Real!

Changing-Water-1Even if you don’t understand what I’m trying to say…that’s okay also.

CultivatingI much prefer this looking at the world in rose colored glasses, than any other kind.

Cooling-offMy wish for you today is find those things that raise your heart in happiness!

From my heart to your world,

Angels Walked—Tuesday, May 24, 2016

C

Today I am doing ever so much better!  I thank you, each and every one!

I have this theory, in which I try to live my life.  Something I practice everyday.  Well, actually I have a theory within a theory.

2I call my theory the Begats— what we think Begats more of what we think…therefore if we are angry…think angry thoughts — act out anger all the time we then draw to us more and more anger.  We begin living in anger. (Or Sadness or depression or peace, or joy, or happiness!)

WN-Down-5

(Work is always a great healer–we started cutting down an old dead walnut tree yesterday.  The tree died several years ago.  We left it for an owl roost.  Last year the trunk started to split; fearing damage to the fence or building it was now time to remove it.)

WN-Down-4

The other part of my theory is—one of the greatest gifts you can give someone is the gift to see, and do, and be, whatever it is, they want to see and do and be.

WN-Down-3As we worked I sent out love and mentally drew joy to me.  I also snipped out the horrible thoughts and replaced them with joy for myself. Gradually I grew better.

WN-Down-2I read all your wonderful warm and loving comments to me.  Your words of care flowed over me and glowed in my heart.

ViewThey continue to glow even today for your words, thoughts, hugs, and prayers give me a small shield, whereby the ‘bad’ things can only bounce off, ringing like a bell, then vibrating into silence.

Irish Rainbow

Some of you even sent me rainbows!  (this one all the way from Co Mayo, Ireland)

Your concern and care is amazing!  If I close my eyes and feel the soft movement, of this morning’s breeze, I can also feel something else touched my shoulders, very gently.

Blue-GlowThe Angels Walked Yesterday and they were You!

I most humbly Thank you!

From my heart to your world,

Linda

The Hollow Place in My Heart—-Monday, May 23, 2016

Sun-and-Showers

Sometimes I my heart breaks…I’m sorry.  But it does.  Today I’m having a hard time. Please forgive my short post.  Tomorrow I hope to be back to myself.  I want more than anything to get back into that place of joy that is the most basic of happiness.

I need to gather the pieces of myself again.  To snip off those offending, worrying thoughts.

Today-my-heart-is-sadI hate to even write this, but I promised myself I would always write the truth to you.  That my blog posts would be sincere, honest and full of candor. This blog would verify my approach to the world.

My connection to you real.

Break-through-sunSometimes I wish I could reach into the future and see the outcome of that which is worrying me…but the reality is:  I’m glad I can’t.

Your friend,

Linda

The World Pauses—Thursday, May 19, 2106

Good-Morning!Gradually, day-by-day our world is changing.

Morning Moving ever closer to summer, although still chilled with rain showers and drizzle.

The wind sings loudly causing the wind chime to clash and bang, or the wind moves as only a breath lifting the leaves on the trees in soft little flutters of green.

Fire-2The day swings into to full force rushing toward it’s own end; the birds actively twittering and wakeful from first light until gloaming.

ZoomEach day is filled with activity—so much to do and to get done before the shadows of the night fill the air.  The shadows are cold this time of year, but in summer warm and soft.

Fire-5There is that special time…that moment just before light, or in the gloaming, just before dark;  the silence speaks to me.  And if I’m very still and just listen the world pauses and takes a breath.

With Love, from my world to your heart

Linda

Gifts from Nature—Wednesday, May 18, 2016

My first gift from nature  is a new bird to my feeders!  I am so excited!

Sharpened A Western Tanager!  I’ve never seen one here before.  The website says they are woodland birds.  It just may be passing through.  Only time will tell.

BearThe bears are back.  A mom bear (sow) and one cub have been spotted (several times) just below our farm…running along the fence line.  Another bear has been bothering a bee hive over about two miles from us.

Moon-in-Tree

Saturday is the first day of May’s Full Moon…this year it is a Blue Moon complete with a sighting of Mars!!!  You can read all about it here!

Full Moons

I hope the sky is clear for you, wherever you might be!  To see the bright, bright light of the moon and the red planet Mars will be a gift of a lifetime!

Love,

Linda

The Rhythm of My Days—-Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Sun-going-down-1

Sometimes I’m asked if I ever get bored—now that I’m retired from a paying job.Red-SUn-2

(A past photo)

No actually, I never get bored!  I do get restless, sometimes.  But never bored.

Rikki-The-RaccoonThere always seems to be something to do or to see or to experience—-right here on the farm.  Those small little creatures which keep my mind from wandering into dullness.

sunrise-25.jpgWinter will ‘do me in’ with it’s terrible cold and long dreary days.  But I’m not bored. The frozen outside has stilled the voices of trees and water. The winter animals and birds are desperately  on the hunt for food and survival, the sounds chill on the air with the low slung arc of the sun.

Sundail-gardenI bought my bedding plants yesterday and will plant them today.  I will work digging the little holes needed for each small plant listening to the voices murmuring in the trees and the water of the canal, as I carefully water and fill in the soil around each plant.  Terry and I will repair the outside furniture, set an arch he made for me, and I will start painting the trim and benches in the gardens.  I will paint, then weed, and trim, and prune as the sun travels across the sky.

With love from my world to your heart!

Linda
