A Wee Gift of Magic — Thursday, October 22, 2020

There is something so extra special

When something unexpected comes your way

Taking you by surprise

That is what happened to Terry and me yesterday in the mail.

A special hand-made card-sending us strength and love as we move through this time with

Our darling little Beagle.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

As the Sun Sparkled on the Farm —- October 21, 2020

While Terry did all the things he needs to do

To get the corn harvested.

I headed out to put the farm to bed.

The day was just lovely.

There was a nice breeze

Cooling me as I worked.

One ditch finished.

A few more to go.

The Skyline is Changing — Tuesday, October 20, 2020

Terry went out first thing Monday morning

Shelled some corn into a bucket

Then had the corn tested for moisture

WOW! 10%!

Normally we start at 14%!

So there you go

Several weeks early

The 2020 Corn Harvest has begun!

WHAT! WOW! I Made it FIRST! —- Monday, October 19, 2020

As you know I love to feed the little wild creatures

fun little snacks they would never ever get

unless someone goes to the grocery store and buys them.

Usually,

it goes down like this —Stanely or Stewart or someone

from the Vacuum Cleaner family shows up—Cute little furry rodents with darling little faces

Sometimes, but not always, the Quail get there and can snarf up the remaining bits leaving a clean plate for everyone else.

But yesterday, the little chipmunk made it up there before everyone else.  He/she stood and his/her mouth flew open as is to say: WOW!

It was a perfect treat for Chipmunk and a perfect treat for me!

Sometimes My Heart Stops—-Sunday, October 18, 2020

When I’m out and about

Of course, I travel now without my darling little beagle

(Taken by a game camera in the yard)

And I always stop and stand very still, using my zoom lens

And he/she always dashes off when the click of the camera is heard.

But still—it takes a spell for my heart to slow down and I can move on.

Linda

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— How I am Doing, Friday, October 16, 2020

Mom thought, and so did I, you might like to know how I am doing.

We had a touch-and-go bit of time, not so long ago, but I have some new medication that helps the liver not only digest, but start to heal.

Mom and I think it is working.

At least we hope so.

I feel much better…I go outside and work with Mom.  Well, Mom does all the work, I just follow her around and watch her work while lying in the grass.

I do go on very small walks with Mom and Mindy…just out to the Butler Bins and back.  That is far enough.  It has a tendency to wear me out if I walk too far.

Mom never makes me, I go if I want to,

or I stay home or inside if I want too.  Mom says whatever I want, it is up to me.

I did take my last ride on the four-wheeler, though.  It was enough.  I don’t want to get up there anymore.  It’s hard on my belly.  Maybe again sometime, but I doubt it.

So that is how I am doing.  I do whatever I want and I get to eat whatever I want.  Mom says sometimes it’s hard to figure out WHAT I want to eat.  But she always figures out something yummy—-like roasted chicken sandwich meat, YUMMM!

AND I GET LOTS OF KISSES on my NOSE!!! Ear rubs and tummy rubs…life is good.

Anyway, here I am. Doing much better.

Boomie the Wonder Beagle.

That Most Magnificent of Hunters —Thursday, October 15, 2020

Sometimes, when out  watching the birds swooping and diving

I also see

That most

Magnificent of hunters

Searching, searching, searching,

Searching for dinner.  (I love seeing the shadow, also.) — I use a zoom lens.  Just so you know. 🙂

And Speaking of Changes — Wednesday, October 14, 2020

Soon it will be time for the “TIME CHANGE”, which is always a wrench in the cog-wheel of time

If you look closely you can see the school bus making its way, picking up children in the pre-dawn light.

When the time change comes along, this scene will switch.

Then a person can see the bus coming up the hill (instead of down) after dropping off children from school…heading back to the bus barn in the near-dark.

They really need to just let the time stay the correct time…it works ever so much better for everyone.

Just say’n.

It Froze Early Monday Morning — Tuesday, October 13, 2020

It’s the third time we had a killing frost

From this point on the temperatures will keep sliding down, down, down

I won’t show you the broken and blacked stalks of once beautiful

And lushly green things

Only those objects, which make up the beauty of Autumn

Although, I feel like this is a time when the earth is taking a deep breath

Busily gathering all its energy unto itself

Silently,

but obviously,

pulling everything inward

Singing to us

A beautiful, haunting good-bye

Song.

As the days go by.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Each Passing Year Goes Faster and Faster — Monday, October 12, 2020

My inner-clock runs on the time

Of Spring, Summer, and Fall

A sort of energy level to match those three seasons…

Winter seems to last FOREVER and

goes on and on…a season as long as

Those three added together.

Like one great big long continuous season.

Because of that looming frozen time, I try to make the most of this one

Spending as many moments as possible enjoying the riot of color

And the fact I can still wear flip-flops without socks! 🙂
