The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Waiting! I’m Good at Waiting, Friday, October 18, 2019

Hello!  It’s Me, Mindy-Lou, Min-Min, Kit-Cat Brown.  Today is MY day to visit with you!

It seems like I do lots of waiting.

Well, first I have to walk about and do some hunting.  Then I wait.

I hide and wait for that skittery mouse to come rushing past me…then I leap and the wait is over!

I have to be very careful outside now…a pack of coyotes is back.  I have seen them as I wait in the shadows.  When I see them I wait and wait then I run as fast as I can to safety.

Coyotes EAT cats!

Sometimes I go for a walk in the dark, with Mom and Boomer. But also, sometimes Mom puts me in the house where I wind-up waiting for them to get back.

I always do my best to be there for Dad

(and Mom) but DAD first!

But the hardest waiting comes when I have to wait for everyone to come back from a four-wheeler excursion.

I refuse to ride, although, Mom has asked me.

So, I suppose, the very best thing I do is waiting. Then pouncing, and —oh, mom says I can’t explain the next part of crunching.  Oh! Yes, I’m also pretty good at spitting up fur balls, but Mom says I can’t talk about that either.

Mindy Kit-Cat Brown.  (I love how I have a family name now!)

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Miserable

wet-1.jpgIt’s raining here again!  Lots of rain.  Too much rain.

There has been spots of sunshine mostly dribs and drabs of SUNSHINE!

We love the sunshine, Mom and I.  Well, I think everyone does.  Every time it shines we all go outside and do happy dances.  Mom says there are people in California and other places who would trade places with us anytime.

HUH?!

“Yes,” she said, “They would go outside and do happy dances in the rain. “They are missing the rain and we are missing the sunshine.”

Company-4

Anyway, Shiloh and Etta came up and played for a spell.

Outside

They pretty much chased Sam up a tree and kept him there.  I didn’t care to play that game.  Sam and I are friends.

RideIn a spot of sunshine I got to go for a ride.  Dad was checking on how the other farmer’s corn was doing.

WalkMom, Dad and I all went for a walk, well we pretty much do that lots of times throughout the day, but this time we walked up and checked on one of the transmission pipes.

Of course it rained some more.

Mom went to town and I waited for her until she returned

YAY-MOM

YAY!  Mom came back.  She had groceries and a BIG juicy bone just for me!

WaitingI always go out and check who has been walking on the farm.   Mostly I have been spending my time in the house sleeping by the woodstove, toasting one side then the other.  Mom says it’s strange to be burning the woodstove this time of year—as for me.

I think it’s nice.

Flood

Outside is—well, Miserable.

The Adventures of Boomer—the Cats

Well, I guess it’s true.  Fuzzy isn’t coming back.

After following Mom around for days and days until I got into a daze (TEE HEE) I decided hanging with Mom 24-7 is BORING!!!!   If she is outside that’s okay, but if she is inside all that I can do is sleep.  Right at first that seemed like a really good thing….then it hit me.

THIS IS BORING!!!

I tried whining at Mom, trying to get her to come outside and ‘DO SOMETHING’, but she would just reach down and pet me all over and give me a really nice leg shaking/scratching belly rub.  Then she would continue dusting or whatever it was she was doing.

I tried helping her cook—THAT didn’t work for sure.

So I said to myself—“WHAT CAN I DO?!?!??!”  That’s when it hit me —I can make friends with the cats!  Maybe we could do ‘stuff’ together!!

Monkey-moo

The first thing I had to do was to get Monkey-Cat to want to go outside.  Monkey-cat never likes to go outside, but I whined and begged her until she finally said: “Okay, dog! Let’s go outside and see what so neat about being out there”!

1

Sammy-Sam grudgingly said Monkey-Cat and I could go out with him…BUT we could NOT get in his way.  He said he has extremely important work to do on a twice a day basis and we were NOT to create havoc with his routines!

“YIPPEE!!!” I howled…”LET’S GO OUTSIDE AND SEE WHAT WE CAN SEE!”

First we had to get outside…I can go…I just put my head against the back door and I’m out.  But the cats have to wait for Mom or Dad to open the door.

“To get outside, Monkey, you are going to have to sit at the door and meow and meow loudly”, I told Monkey.

Sammy turned a scornful eye at the both of us and said…”you just watch…I’ll get all of us out in a cat minute.”

Slowly he walked over to the door and sat down. He just sat there looking into the rest of the house waiting for Mom or Dad.

They never came.

It’s not working I fretted.

“Hang-on Dog I’m not done yet.”

“MEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!!! Screech, yowl.”

“Wow! You sure are demanding, Sam,” Dad exclaimed as he walked into the kitchen then onto the back porch. Dad pushed open the backdoor and Sam yelled—NOW.  So we all bolted out the back door.

All

After a few minutes Mom and Dad came out!  “YAY!  We are all outside!” I bayed!

Dad headed over to the big truck where he is working on fixing the tail lights and Mom packed the trash to the trash cans.

Canal

“Come on, Monkey and Sam lets go see if there is any news at the canal.”

“SAY THIS IS FUN!”  Monkey screamed as she zoomed by Sam, Mom and I…”first one up the Willow tree is Queen of the world!”

“Look at that cat go!”  Mom laughed.  “I think she has finally figured out being outside is fun!”  Then Mom started loading up wood for the day.

Pathway

“Come on Sam let’s see who has passed this way.”

Neighbors-Tom

Sniff, sniff…..”oh, Aanda’s big yellow and white Tom Cat.”

Scram

“GRRR, GROWL   that neighbor cat is NOT welcome on this place….grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.” Sammy casted a malevolent eye toward the canal.

Outside-see

“What cat? Huh, what cat, Sam….how can you tell, are you sure…where did he go…huh, Sam?  Sam….”

“Shhhhhhh, Monkey…just put your nose to the ground and follow the scent”…Sam glared at Monkey.

“Sniff, sniff…..oh, yeah, you are right, Sam, snuff, snuff…yep, right here…down this side of the canal…”

Snuff-sniff

“COME ON…let’s see how far he went up the canal!” I invited as I slid down the side of the canal.

Down we all went- Sam, Monkey and myself.

“Oh!  This is really fun!’  Monkey exclaimed…”look there are pockets of water trapped between the rocks and little hidey holes under the long grass along the canal bank…”

“Look for mice”, Sam said.  “Don’t waste your time jumping on the rocks, Monkey…if you can find a mouse or two you can have a really nice snack.”

Smells

“You cats just go on and enjoy yourself, I think I’m going to hop up on the ditch bank road to smell what news is up here”…hummm,

One-of-the-herd

deer…yes…buck and a nice buck.

Travel

Oh…yes…the mom and the fawn are in the corn….RACCOONS!!!  A couple of big ones….snuff, sniffle…mice.  “HEY! SAM THERE ARE A TON OF MICE IN THE CORN FIELD!!!”

“SAM!”

“Thanks, Boomer, yum, yum, swallow, slurp…I found a few down here.”

“BOOMIE!!! WHERE ARE YOU?”

WHAT!  Mom’s calling.  Maybe I’d better —————head ——————–home…but………..wait……….hummmmmmmmm…skunk…I think they are getting ready to hunker down for the winter.

“BOOMIE!  YOU WANT TO GO TO TOWN WITH ME?  BOOMER!  DO YOU WANT TO GO!!!?”

GO?

GO” Town!?

Run to

“I’m COMING MOM!!! “

Run to

“I’m Coming!!!”

“Bye cats….I’m heading into town now.  See ya when I get back!”

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer on Friday—Happy 4th of July!

Cleaning-out-the-mud(Cleaning the mud out before the water gets there.  Weeds grow fast in the mud and suck up the water and slow the water down.)

Clouds-4Today is the 4th of July!  Fuzzy and I have puppy feet today! First thing we did a go change the water…Dad has water here and there and everywhere!

Mud

I jumped into every mud ditch I could find—heheheheh—makes Mom have to ride with a muddy paws and a muddy belly Beagle!!!

Almost-Late

HAHAHAH!

I just give her a great big grin and waggle my tail back and forth in very happy bursts.  (When I do that she never gets mad at me!)

My-JobMom put Fuzzy down for a spell, but he said he really wanted back up on the 4-wheeler so she put him back up.  He told me the air is better up there…he can smell the breezes and get all the news.

Sickle-MoonThere is a sickle moon right now!  Mom was out taking photos of it, she said she would like to take photos of the moon in all its stages.  Hey, whatever works for you, Mom!  Fuzzy and I are up for anything…well just about anything.  Fuzzy says he isn’t up for going to the groomers.

Tail(That’s my tail—that white spot in the field)

Dad’s alfalfa has really grown…it’s taller than I am now, just my tail gives my position away, it won’t be long when I can get news in the alfalfa field and Mom and Dad won’t be able to see me!  Chuckle, snerk!

No-MY-job(This was me in the field two weeks ago)

We had thunder storms roll in yesterday afternoon.  Fuzzy was in a panic…THUNDER!!! Crack!  THUNDER!

Mom and Dad sat outside under the tin roof and let the hot air cool around them, then the rain splattered down; the thunder rumbled. Fuzzy and I laid right at Mom’s feet.  Fuzzy must have felt secure enough because he went right to sleep.  When I noticed he was sleeping I got up and moved over a short ways and took a little snooze myself.

Pinto-Bean-FieldLater, after the storms moved on, Mom and Fuzzy and I took some photos of the bean field.

Pinto-Beans(And not a weed in site!

Knee-High

(Yep the corn is going to make before frost–it more than ‘knee-high by the 4th of July”_

Then the little family came over and Mom got our annual photo of the corn.

Fuzzy and I didn’t want to get in the corn with Hank and everyone; we sat right by Mom as she took the photos. Even though Dad and the kids called us we didn’t want to go into the corn.  Dad doesn’t like us in the corn until it starts to tassel out!  We were told that enough we BELIEVE it…………….DO NOT GO IN THE CORN…you will break the little stalks!  And there they were….all of them IN THE CORN!!!

Once it tassels out Dad doesn’t care — then I run down all the rows checking out the new, but NOT NOW!!!

Nope not now!  So I stayed with Fuzzy who always stays right with Mom.

Anyway!  Fuzzy and I, Sammy-Sam the Cat, and Monkey the Cat, and yes Mom and Dad wish all of you a HAPPY 4TH of JULY!!!
