A Place of Beauty and Peace—Wednesday, April 24, 2024

Although there are plenty of problems running a farm, there are also moments and times when peace is so real, and the beauty of the earth so profound my soul is filled with awe.

New Birth — Albeit a Slow One—-Monday, April 24, 2023

Slowly, slowly we are greening up. We go from a couple of warm days then back to very cold, spitting snow, wind-blowing days.  Then it’s a repeat.

I guess that really is what Spring is about.  Warm up too hard and fast we will have floods and the drought will come back.

So slowly, slowly forward we go.

POWER in the Form of Wind — Sunday, April 24, 2022

Friday the wind became more than over-the-top, it became so concentrated

That the electricity went out for three hours.

We had 65 m.p.h. wind gusts

Full of dirt and flying things.

Terry talked to a friend, at the power company, and was told trees in the Hotchkiss area were blown over causing outages; power poles snapped in our area.

What a mess.

After the wind left we had a hail storm.  All these little white blossoms are from the pear tree.

Scattering bits and pieces everywhere.

Then at the end of the day—-the sun shone upon the bruises and fissures the wind breathed on the land.

Putting us all back together with its own unique rhythm of healing.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The Adventures of Mindy on Friday— A Peak into My World, Friday, April 24, 2020

I got trapped in Mom’s flower bed

Well, Not Really

FOOLED YOU!

I also went for a walk with

Boomer and

Mom

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!

Yesterday, I chased off another cat.  Mom saw me.  She told me not to chase that kitty it was Aunt Shannon’s.  Then Mom called out “COOPER! COOPER! Come here! MINDY STOP!”

I didn’t. I chased Cooper all the way to the cross-over ditch!

I AM GOING TO BE THE ONLY CAT HERE!

Oh…just so you know…BOOMER CAN RUN AGAIN!

Well, not perfectly run, but he can HURRY UP WALK and Mom and I think

THAT IS A GOOD THING!

Some Days I Wish —- Wednesday, April 24, 2019

Somedays I wish I could commit to my mind

The sensation of each and every day that I am blessed with,

Even when things start off wrong and seem to go that way throughout the whole day

I still feel like magic is manifested constantly

in each and every second.

It’s an Old Magic

Full of wisdom we really should not mess with

Magic so profound and strange

And subtle…..

We can only wonder and say a prayer of gratefulness

And when we stop and allow the Old Magic to work on us,

We are engulfed in a sense of well-being.  Like a prayer…warm and pulsing, like the love of a mother, a best friend, protection of a strong dad—a knowledge of peace and awe.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

A Saturday of Specials—Monday, April 24, 2017

After setting the water Saturday morning, Terry and I decided we wanted to watch Tally play soccer.  It’s her first year to play.

Studying the Soccer schedule we saw this Saturday was a game at ‘home.’

Most of them are in towns further away…like Glenwood Springs, Rifle, New Castle, but this one today was there…

Off we went to spend time in the sun watching the coach (her dad) and her teammates

In an hour of running, kicking and guarding.

Then…

We got to bring her back here for two nights and two days.  She will meet her Mom in Grand Junction of Monday.

Somethings are so precious they defy words!

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Home is the Nicest Word There Is—Sunday, April 24, 2016

“Home is the nicest word there is.”—Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie

Full-April-Moon-2

I finally got a series of the Pink Full Moon in April…

April-Moon-2

after downloading the photos I was surprised that there is a faint pink to the moon!

Snow-on-the-San-Juans-1

Also, one day last week we saw the most stunning view of the San Juan Mountains—the sky was cloudy accept where the sun had broken through and was shinning just on them.

Sjs We live in the original land of the Ute–the Shoshone–and the Blackfeet Indians–they called the San Juan’s the Shinning Mountains…when I saw the sun breaking through the clouds and lighting up the mountain range I SO had to agree with them!

The San Juan’s lie to the south of us, to the south west is the Uncompahgre Plateau, the west is the Canyons and the desert called The Stinking Desert, to our north is the Grand Mesa, and to the east are the West Elk Mountains.   We are surrounded by shinning mountains on three and half sides and stunning canyons and desert on the other half side.

SoSJSince we live and farm on a mesa we have the joy of seeing so many vistas of great beauty.

I just know, where each one of you live, you also share in this perfect wonder land called the earth!

From my heart to your world!

Linda
