Under the Full August Moon —- Thursday, August 3, 2023

We GOT rain!  Thankfully the hay is all in and stacked.

RAIN!  Beautiful wonderful Rain!

And we got a smidge of something—rainbow, sundog, something.  I’ll take a sundog–it means a cool down.

The full moon through the rain clouds was Stunningly beautiful!

Bright, Wonderful, Awe-Inspiring —- Wednesday, August 3, 2022

There is a time of day

Sometimes at the beginning of the day

Sometimes at the end of the day.

But always, always, no matter the ending or the beginning that special time is ephemeral, gradually perishing until only a memory.

( I really need to paint the house—sigh)

Quiet Days — the Kind that Leaves No Mark, Tuesday, August 3, 2021

It’s been raining here,

Little showers of delight

Our air, ground, and souls cooling way down

Making a person think it might be Autumn

It makes me feel like Fall

Time racing forward

That summer will be over (too) fast.

Moments racing ahead…

The rain is nice, it’s actually making puddles

Still…over there — just beyond

Is Fall…

Autumn

The cool down, just before

Ah, well…until then

Our days go Quietly forward…

The Moon, a Thing of Staggering Beauty—Monday, August 3, 2020

Boomer doesn’t always like to go with me anymore

Long walks are now out of the question

Most of the time he will go with me on the four-wheeler, but not always

He always goes with he has company.  He tries very hard to be part of their play

But last evening he wanted to go for a wee walkabout

So we did

Not going far

Just down the lane, past the equipment

Where the moon shown down on us,

A little dog, a little kitty and I

From my world to your heart,

Linda

While the Gods Hold Their Breath— Thursday, August 3, 2017

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”–Rachel Carson

I must confess I have a favorite word…it is a word I don’t use often, nor do I find ways to incorporate it into my conversations…like those common words: COOL, DUDE, YA KNOW…I don’t even sprinkle in this word here and there

but it is a word I think describes how I feel on a daily basis….

The word is Dazzle.

I feel dazzled as sun touches the word’s edge…morning or evening

Or the glittering lights sparkle on the ripples, making the rather muddy irrigation water twinkle like jewels — sending a blessing to all the water touches

Even the run, to check water, in the deep silence of the night brings out the sky drenched with twinkling stars, or moonlight seeping into everything — turning the world to silver

I feel a most profound and deep joy when the horizon is edged with a Rainbow…

Or the color of flowers is captured in a heap of clouds

I must confess I am most blessed…living on this amazing earth, which sails noiselessly between the stars

Dazzled…that pretty much sums up how I feel about life.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Sweet Corn Harvest—-Wednesday, August 3, 2016

Picking-Sweet-Corn-018

The Sweet Corn Harvest is ON!!!!

Picking-Sweet-Corn-025

It has actually been on since the third week in July.  They are just picking next to our place now.

Mountain Fresh and Olathe Sweet are the two brands grown here.  Watch for them in your local store.

And NO  neither one of these sweet corns (nor any sweet corn) is genetically modified!  They are hybrids!  Glyphosate will kill the sweet corn plants.

Hope you enjoy some and when you do…know the ears were harvested some place here on a farm in western Colorado!

Happy munching!

The Sound of Water—Monday, August 3, 2015

StormsThe storms are building again.  We have had two days of fall like weather…pleasantly cool and moisture filled.  As I write this the sun is shining, but the clouds are building over the Uncompahgre Plateau (Un-come-pah-gray, with the accent on the pah).  They say we will have heavy rain this afternoon.

Rise-1Today my daughter and the grandchildren leave for their home in Craig, Colorado.  This time (the leaving) always makes me sad.  Although, I know in a week or so we will get to have Linkin for a spell.  And we will make a short trip to Craig, to take Linky home after our week with her.

The space in-between won’t be THAT long, it just the fact there is a space.  I’m sure all you parents out there understand.  Of course the children, who have moved away only see this as necessary …. and an adventure.

It’s the leaving part.

I remember my Grandmother standing forlornly in her driveway waving her little hankie, tears in her eyes, (as we would drive away) all those many years ago.  And we weren’t going far….

Today I walk a mile in her worn and battered shoes.  I will kiss each one good-bye, and wave sadly, but with a brave smile on my face. (I hope), but the sound of water loud in my ears.

Whirl-Wind Daze — Sunday, August 3, 2014

Thursday we took off…The lives of the kids packed into a van, the wood hauler pick-up, and our pick-up and horse trailer…moving from one life to the next.  It took us a little over three hours to reach their new home.

ArrivedThe house is perfect!Hank-and-the-new-house  Fits all the requirements of a growing family.

ThereLucky, lucky us…Bladen and Linkin decided they were coming back to spend 9 or ten days with us! Linkin’s BFF rode up with Linkin so she got to come back and spend the night with us, also!

Terry’s sister and brother-in-law were also moving this same day. They were leaving Greeley, Colorado; heading on down to Prescott, Arizona.  Arrangements were made to meet them in Grand Junction, Colorado as they (and Us) passed through.

FamilyThe nice thing for them (and for all of us) is they had Terry’s Great Niece (their granddaughter) with them!

Terry-and-Sophie-LoveSophia LOVES her Great Uncle!

Terry-and-Sophie (The feeling is mutual!)

CousinsCousins and a BFF!  (They had a most delightful, giggly time!)

Danny-and-CloudyThe next morning my brother and his wife arrived to spend two days with us!
Heading-out

Then yesterday we had a date with our son to go four-wheeling on the Uncompahgre Plateau up at Lee’s Reservoir.  Every night we’ve gotten to bed at mid-night. (How can you stop enjoying family when you don’t get to see them very much?)

Bricks

Today I must, MUST, get all of us organized and into some sort of routine.

Down

But……………first we must have a little time for play, then second we will do chores…

Snowball(Snowball the bunny)

Third we may take a nap…or Not!

Thanks for all your wonderful words of encouragement and care for us! (Me)

We are moving forward into this new way of being!

I appreciate your friendship,

Linda
