I’m going to post some photos of the huge amount of hummers we have now…at least 40 visit the feeders all day long. 
We have the Black-chinned Hummingbird, the Broad-tailed Hummers, Ruby-Throat, Rufous so far!
I’ve tried to get a photo of all of them at once, but it is proving futile.
But still I try
I saw a rainbow …
they always give me a good feeling of…well…
I guess HOPE!
Off to water my plants before the heat sucks us down to nothing. It’s supposed to be 101* today.

I have about 4 pair of Hummingbirds
at my feeders now, plus two pair of the Bullock Orioles/
My photos are STILL not very good, 
but I’m working on them.
Part of the problem is how shy the Bullock’s are —
the hummers are getting better about having me around.
I can work in the flowers right under the feeders with them flying all around…
the second I get my camera…………………sigh.
Then I saw a RUFUS humming bird…he and his mate were have a great time mixed in with all the other hummers…
I was extremely excited to see and actually get a photo of the little bird.
Have a good one everyone…we are off to haul firewood today. Seems strange to think of firewood in July, but we must if we are going to stay warm this summer. We will haul seven Dodge truck loads minimum before we have enough…last year the winter went on way too long and really needed 9 truck loads. So one day a week for the next seven (possibly nine) weeks we will be hauling wood!

For some reason my internet has been down until right now.
Oh, well…
Terry has the first cutting of hay done…
This is the ‘getting old’ field. The rows are not very thick. As I’ve said before this field will be planted to something else (if there is water) next year.
We wait now for the alfalfa to dry down…usually about a week if the weather holds sunny and hot. Sometimes faster if we have wind to go with it.
But if we have rain (fingers crossed this doesn’t happen) we stand a very good chance of the rain ruining the crop. So no rain for AT LEAST TWO MORE WEEKS!
The alfalfa need to morph into hay, then it needs to be baled into bales and hauled into the hay yard to be sold.
This shot of the hummers is a little better…I only cut off two of the little flying jewels, but I did get one looking good.
Last night the jet streams were a delightful pink
I always wonder where they are going—home … away…somewhere for fun…just out of here..going, going and then gone…just the tails left.
Off to work in the yard!

Terry is out cultivating the pinto beans…THANK HEAVENS FOR BIG EQUIPMENT! I would hate to have to go out and weed that whole field by hand…although, we have to when the pintos get too big to drive a tractor through. At that time we only go after the big weeds and still they will get away from us.
Linkin rode her bike over…
you can see by this series of photos that they live just over the fields from us…
which is nice, because the kids never have to get on the road to ride their bikes…
they just have to head down the field roads.
We took her to her school (Lincoln Elementary) to show us what she likes to do at recess,
whereby she and her Grandpa had a very hot game of Tether Ball. After a well balanced super of Chili-cheese fries and a Frosty we took on a game of Miniature Golf! No scores kept just good fun. Grandpa won the prize at the end of the game, which was a turn each in the batting cages.
It was Linki’s first time to ever swing a bat — she did really good. We used the softball pitch.
Then back home to change water and set it in the next area.
While they were up at the corn field I tried my hand at photographing a hummer or two.
I still have a long ways to go to getting a good shot!

I have several hummingbirds this year…of course I’m having trouble getting photos of them, maybe I’ll make it.
So far we have regular visitors of the Black-chinned Hummers and the Ruby Throat two pairs of each. I’ve also seen an Rufous, and an Anna’s pair, they are not here regularly, or at least when I’m outside I haven’t seen them regularly.
The types which are in Colorado are:
Broad-tailed, Rufous, Black-chinned, Calliope, Blue-throated,Magnificent, Anna’s, Ruby-throated, Broad-billed, White-eared, Green Violet-ear.
I sure hope I can see some of the others, maybe not at my feeders but around.
Then to get a photo…a good photo…MY Goal for the year!
Have a restful Sunday everyone! We are off to watch grandchildren play soccer for the last time. Summer break starts soon for the grand kids!

Two little families of Hummingbirds have built nests in one of our really old sheds.
I keep waiting for the little birds to hatch, but then they do and I miss them. Darn it.
Anyway, I’ll keep watching. The next set of eggs I hope to see hatch and if I do so will you!
