HEY MOM!!! THE Bees are Out!!!
MOM!!!

It’s finally starting to smell like Spring…the snows are all gone
So walking in the soft gloaming of the day turning into gathering twilight
Has a fluttering feel of new happenings
Then the night grows,
filling the world with a different sort of peace.
Then grey, grey light of the beginning day (the first load of kids going to school goes by our house about 6:45 A.M.)
Brings early morning sunlight to the canyons along the Uncompaghre Plateau
I love walking in the gloaming and at night…the earth, the sky, the very air. Everything sings a song to me.
From my world to your heart,
Linda
Growth and change are coming. It’s out there in the different hues of the light
The buds of new leaves, showcasing last years wee little bird nests
A bit of green showing up along the ditch banks and in the horse pastures
Not to mention the daily use of the tractors 🙂
Different tractors for different needs 🙂
Even though we still are using the firewood, the need to do so becomes less and less as we move closer to April
And there. THERE!!! The wee little crocus —why! They are BLOOMING!!!
Spring is truly here!

I pushed through the panic and started the heavy lifting of the old railroad ties. Terry came over with the four-wheeler and helped. He on one end and I on the other.
We loaded the ties onto the four-wheeler and drove them over to the coral gardens, which I have decided to spruce up a wee bit also
Terry worked with me for a couple of hours; afterward leaving to go do some work at the Upper End.
I like the new look to the flowerbeds at the corral garden spot. The old boards were starting to rot so repurposing the boards with the railroad ties will help keep everything going strong there.
Here you can compare…the new beds with the railroad ties and the two older beds.
I hope to get the two older beds freshened today.
We lifted and removed the ties.
Then later as I hauled soil to the repurposed beds and replanted my plants I looked carefully at what was happening!.
Seeing my garden beds with new eyes, so to speak.
And I LOVED it!
I will get everything out this bed and plant it all to grass.
The grass will be so much nicer to deal with!
Since I can’t figure out what to do with the bed where I keep all the bird feeders, I decided to take Janice Blawat’s, Emily Summer’s and Sara’s advice.
I am going to plant a ground cover or herbs in the bed and hope they smother everything out!
There!
I am moving forward!
Thank you each and everyone for the excellent advice and concern. I will have to seriously look into a sprinkler system at some point. Then my work will be shrunk to a more manageable size. (I hope)

Lady has a new forever friend. She is a Quarter Horse and only four years old
Her Name is Adobe Skipun Te Ata—(how you say it is —-well, your guess is as good as mine…the kids call her T. I try and say Te at a.)
After a little tiny skirmish, where Lady kicked TeAta and TeAta turned around a whopped Lady…
They have become friends! TaAta is the boss and Lady is letting her. Lady let Romeo be the boss also. She is a follower….which is good. Two lead equines would Not be a good thing.

Every family needs one another….always…always.
A family together
Grows…sometimes in an imperceptible way
Other times so loud and joyful it’s like a sunbeam in the predawn gray
The sounds of children are full of excitement, laughter, sometimes tears
Full of hope
The infinite possibility of my family are held loosely in the secret chambers of my heart!

Early, early Terry, Boomer, and I were at one of the cement ditches putting in new gates for the coming year. The old ones were broken and/or crumbling so they needed replace.
The shadows were long, ever so long, and the air brisk and chilly when we went out.
By the time we finished the shadows had shorted to almost represent solar noon.
Still… we are done now. Set for another year.
A good feeling. Water should start around the second week or the third week of April. (for us)
The water is already in the canals heading our way. I guess I could say this another way…we will start water on our place the second or third week of April.
The ditches are now ready! Which is a very good thing!
