Popping Up all Over—-Thursday, February 18, 2016

It’s trying to rain here.  Breezy and cold with scattered showers.

Cold-front-coming-inI saw a very weak sundog yesterday… which, usually, means cooler to even down-right-cold weather within three days.

Still all in all Spring is coming.  The Red-Winged Blackbirds are back, I’ve been seeing flocks of Blue Birds and then yesterday, when out counting calves, there  was a pair of Western Meadow Larks sitting on the fence as I passed by.  YAY!

OneWe have 80 soon-to-be-momma’s here on the Maternity Ward.  🙂   Yesterday evening I had only counted five new little ones.

TwoBut this morning, as the cows woke-up and started walking toward our house, I counted 9 baby calves.  I’m pretty sure there are more, but I haven’t walked over the whole farm to see how many there really are.

ThreeOh the joy of Spring and new little critters!  Soon we won’t be a Maternity Ward but a NURSERY!

THANKFULLY! —- Wednesday, December 1, 2015

Frozen-2Thankfully! My computer is fixed!!!  And it wasn’t a huge fix or an expensive one, nor did I have to buy a new one!  YAY!

Frozen1We are frozen here!  Although, we did have a wee melt today around three o’clock. I think we got up to 33*.  Strange weather…more like January and February.

SundogI also saw a small sundog on my morning walk.  Colder weather coming toward us again, it seems.

Oh, well.  my computer is back!  Everything is right with the world again!

I’ve missed you!

Your very happy friend,

Linda

While working outside Friday a huge Sun Dog lit up the western sky, foretelling of a cold front soon to be arriving in our area

Sundog

The day was rather warm for a November day so we kept on

Weeds

checking the fences and rebuilding where they had been torn down

TerryThat is Terry the tiny dot on the gray looking hill.  He will check the fences between our neighbor to the south

GrassHere he is again almost to the top.

While he is doing that the dogs and I headed down to the west of the place.  The most damage will come from those two areas and the north.

Horizon

Yep!  Right on time!  Saturday the cold front came in…rain, bitter wind, and snow in places.  We only had a sprinkle of rain and the sharp wind, but it looks like the mountains collected lots of white stuff.  Come next spring we will be able to water our crops with melted snow! 🙂

Cold

Today the clouds are lifting and a small chill breeze is pushing them away clearing the sky.

It looks like a promising day!

YIPEEEE

We made it!

The last load went to the beanery yesterday evening.

The rain came in sometime during the night.

Two gifts….beans are done and a nice rain shower.

While walking back in from the bean field I saw a sun dog…cooler weather is on it’s way!

The Morning After

The huge cold front is pushing itself through our area, leaving behind a beautiful sunset last night complete with sun brightened  jet streams.

This morning as the sun came up I saw a sun dog along with the sunrise.

Our sky’s are just wonderful!  All we need to do is look up!

Have a really nice Tuesday, everyone!

Sunday Morning

It cold, calm and clear here.  We woke up to 8 degrees, but it is warming up.  I think it was 20 when I came up here to post.

I’m not surprised at the cold…I saw a Sun Dog Saturday morning.

Most of the corn is about harvested.  The fields that are left are having that high moisture trouble we had last year.  Its a type of corn, of which we are not ever going to plant again…I can assure you.

I’ve been critter sitting….the kids have been gone for several days so the little cage animals have been living with us, Hank/Puff has been living with Shannon, and I go down and take care of the cats and the goats.

Terry is working on the grain truck…he got the tailgate fixed from when the bolt came out.

We are being over-run with mice so we have a huge trap line going in the barns.  Ugh.  Our two cats and the dogs work at it, but there are just too many.

Anyway, have a nice Sunday!

Linda

What Is This?

Late last evening as we were finishing up the last set of water I happened to glance into the sky and saw this

It must be some sort of reflection of the setting sun on the near-by clouds, for sure it wasn’t a rainbow.

Rainbows occur with the sun behind you and the rain clouds before you.  But this was next too the sun, both of them in the west.

If we were in the months of either January or February I would say it was a sun dog, but this is August.

The sky is so amazing…many thing of wonder are in the heavens just like down here on the earth.  You just have to look for them.

Have a wonderful Sunday,

Linda
