On a Day When the Stars Seemed to Wheel in Place —- Thursday, December 3, 2020

My thoughts and feelings were like a wind storm full of snow.  Then —–

I opened my email to this!

Linda,

I thought of you when I saw this rainbow while we were out birding, and I thought you might need one with all that is going on these days.

Take care,
Marianne

So there on her soft rainy day, a gift to me, and to you, appeared.

Thank you so much, Marianne

I always love a Rainbow! 🙂

From my world to your heart,

Linda

It Has Been a Strange Sad Year—Wednesday, December 2, 2020

Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed by this whole awful year

I head out onto the land looking for things

Which fill my soul with a velvety quiet

Watching for the dense and deep quiet

That is almost sacred…

Watching for the ripple in the air which signifies delight

Joy

A buoyant ripple

More than peace, happiness

Beauty untold.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The God(s) Protect Us — Tuesday, December 1, 2020

It’s not hard to believe…that we are protected and blessed, when

When sharing each day with those you love.

In Frost-Bright, Star-Filled Moonlit, Early Morning — Monday, November 30, 2020

The coyotes have been rather horrible of late

Traveling all over the whole farm in very large packs.

Not just the pack, who has decided this is their spot, but packs from on other farms, but close by.

Hanging out wherever they please. Traveling in daylight and dark.  They know no fear.

Even coming into the yard now.  I yelled at one just outside the back door two nights ago as it made rounds in the cows sleeping by the house.  Nasty creature!

They are also scary creatures.

Very Scary.

Our son-in-law, Cliff, said, “Okay, I can help out.”

Then Linkin, our oldest granddaughter, asked if she could also go with Cliff.

Plans were made to head into a dry, cold, frozen morning

Out to the Upper End, the Back Forty, and

To the point of Coyote Hill

Home again later in the morning

One down. Many more to go.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

P.S.  Yes, I know there will be those who will leave nasty comments on the hunting of the coyotes.  And NO! Coyotes do not live on ‘nuts, seeds, and berries’.  Coyotes are carnivores…coyotes eat baby calves. Coyotes eat pheasants, chickens, Quail, rabbits, ‘wild kitties’, deer, and your lovely house cat/pet, they will eat dogs and puppies…coyotes are NOT friendly helpful creatures.

So, as a warning to you, if you leave me a scathing comment, your comment will be put in spam.  Therefore, not allowing you to leave me comments.

And, yes, I am a friend…who lives on a farm, who believes in taking care of the farm and all the creatures who need the farm to live.

In the Sigh of a Night Wind—Sunday, November 29, 2020

One evening, well actually during the night

The wind blew, all the loose and wispy weeds, here and there; driving some into our yard.

Of which, I thought it would be rather interesting to see the world through the ghostly paleness of summer dried weeds.

A Mindy Adventure Story—Life Goes On, Friday, November, 27, 2020 Chapter Four

Chapter Four

Every day is just another day.

I patrol the farm constantly.

Working hard to keep Mom and Dad safe.

And those hens.

They are such silly girls; it is really hard to keep them safe.

I’ve tried.

Boomer always checked out the hen house and made sure the hens were safe so I tried to do the same thing also.

Let me tell you, it is just too hard.

I don’t think they have a brain in their heads.

So, I only go to the hen house now when they are NOT IN the hen house.

That way I can keep the hen house SAFE!

Yes, SAFE!  You know there are MICE who like to live in the hen house and eat chicken food.

I make sure the mice become MY Food!

Anyway,

If Dad is outside I always,

I mean always,

Go to Dad and get Kitty pets and Kitty Rubs and Kitty Pick Up and Carries.

Sure, is nice.

After a while I make Dad let me down and I head off doing Mouse patrol.

Well, it was any day just like any other day….oh, not really, it was more any evening like any evening

WHEN

Suddenly two grey ghosts flew right past me; landing in the very Ancient Willow Tree.

I flung myself to the ground when they flew past.

Then I heard HOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO WHOOOOOOO

OWLS!

OWLS! EAT! CATS!!!  I started to bolt away when one of the owls silently lifted out of the tree and headed in my direction.

I ran as fast as I could to the, now empty canal, dove under the grass hanging over the side of the now-empty canal just in the nick of time, as I felt the swoosh of feathers passing over me.

Don’t Forget to Take a Little Ride — Happy Thanksgiving Everyone — Thursday, November 26, 2020

It’s that time of year again

The time to be grateful for our strong and able bodys

To be grateful for our delightful and marvelous friends

To share pleasant times of food and laughter with those we love

To give thanks for crisp autumn soil and blazing sunsets full of color and splendor

To give thanks for friends both near and far.

To give thanks for those wee little breaks, which whisper ease to the body and soul.

Happy Thanksgiving My Dear Friends,

Linda

From Out of the Wan Night Slides the Shadow Walker —Beowulf, Wednesday, November 25, 2020

I decided to move the game camera — my plan three nights in one place, then move it to another place, to see what I could see.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, nighttime, when strange things stalk the earth

Rather cute little creatures —although, very deadly to chickens.

Shape-shifters who stalk the land at midnight.

Dance, Rise in a Swoosh, Whisper Loudly in the Sky —- Tuesday, November 24, 2020

The Red-Winged Blackbirds wing playfully all around us

In the fields

Landing in the trees, where they set up a happy sounding fuss

Landing on the lawn

Where they, then, twirl away back into the air

A sky full of reckless delight; vast beauty in an unending expanse of song

While way, way over-head the Canadian Geese fly –the exhilarating sounds of their calls reverberating; mingling with the song of the Red-Winged Blackbirds.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Essential– the Vitality of Light (and the JOY) — Monday, November 23, 2020

I love the light

Of that, I am sure you already know

And I love the shadows the light give us

I love how the sunlight breaks forth from the clouds

Bathing all sorts of objects in gold

I love how the setting sun creates a harmony of brilliant colors

Or bathes the sky in mellow pastels

Shadows can only exist in light

Even jumbles of obstacles can not stop light brilliantly shining through

I love how the light shines gleaming through the cold icy air gives us Sundogs —[we are steadily declining into very cold weather].

Light and shadows —

Coloring our world with joy

From my sphere of the globe to your heart,

Linda
