out-for-a-walkEven if the ground is too muddy to go for a four-wheeler ride Terry and Boomer and I always go for a walk.  If Min-Min cat is outside she is tagging along also.

We stay inside!  🙂

The Smallest Things Take Up the Most Room—-Tuesday, January 24, 2017

“Sometimes,” said Pooh, “the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”–A.A. Milne

blades-game-007Because of terrible weather and bad driving conditions, we have not been able to attend many of our grandson’s basketball games.

blades-game-008But yesterday (bad weather and all) we looked at each other and said: “Let’s Go!”  So off we went to Carbondale, Colorado, where the Parachute Cardinals (we are the Cardinals) took on the Rams for a very exciting over-time, buzzer ending basketball game.

That Lovely Wild Shifting Light—Monday, January 23, 2017

getting-ready-to-split-woodAlthough we have storms, and melt, and wind, and rain….the outside work still goes on.

gatheringThe transient cool morning air, bright as crystal’s some mornings

homeFrigid, shadowed and mysterious at night

mudThe rain streaming through thick and gray clouds changes the earth from white to deep dark brown.

blue-skiesThen the glow of chilly blue skies filled our minds with sunshine

sunshine

Until a breeze, more like wind,

wind

comes up and whirls the falling snow into a twirling madness

stormThen the light is gray and secretive.  Filling our world with silence.

snowAfter a brief dusting of snow

melted-snowWe melted!  Adding too the already mud and slop.

rain-puddles

Then the rains came!  Popping up bubbles in the huge puddles.  Fun little bubbles, as if the earth was adding some humor into all the moisture.

sunbeams-003Then this morning we woke up to fleeing clouds

sunbeams-001And sunlight over the land

As I write this the sky is  clear, the sun bright, and there is beauty all around!

going-down-to-see-rocky

We had sun for awhile yesterday! And the temperature rose enough to dry up some of the mud.

last-quarter-moon-004

The heavy clouds cleared and the moon unfurled itself over the farm— lighting Boomer’s and my path with silent silver mysterious and wild moonbeams.  Like the flutter of an angel’s wing.

Today the sun rose in an almost clear sky!

moon-beamsThe late setting moon drifted fast toward the west making the moonlight pulse rather than flicker, in the soft yellow sunbeams, which fell all around the sun-starved earth. Giving the air, the sleeping trees and plants and the drying earth a glow even an angel would enjoy.

So off I am to work in the woodpile—there are logs which need splitting, kenneling to split and gather, plus a few other tasks I couldn’t do because of the mud.  Terry is working on getting the snowmachines ready to take to mountains.

Our Weather Report—-Tuesday, January 17, 2017

before-the-melt

We went from this

wet-004To this and have stayed at this for weeks now. Rain and rain and even more rain.

wet-003Sigh!  The days are long and grey and boring and ever so nasty.

roof-topStill it seems like there is always something that needs to be done.

walk-in-the-farmI’m looking forward to walking with  Boomer  in the SUNSHINE!  Where we throw shadows on the ground and our feet don’t collect mud!

But not yet!  Not today.  Not for awhile.  Another big storm system is heading in here in a day or so, until then just know that I am

Hot-Summer-NightDreaming of those hot summer nights some place in the future!

That Incredible Wonderful Moon—Sunday, January 15, 2017

cloudy-full-moon

In a rather desperate search for a full moon photo—I kept waking-up off and on throughout two nights searching for a time the moon was not covered in clouds.

moon-and-rings-through-theWaiting (but not very patiently) hoping for that single wonderful photo.

ring-around-the-moonGradually the clouds parted, the stars singing loudly in the long, long night

finally-janaurys-full-moon Moonbeams shattered the mist fill land and melted into a cold silver and blue light.

While Boomer checked things — I stood in the shadow moonbeams and ghostly clouds.

From my world to your heart!
