That Wonderous Beautiful Orb in the Sky —- Thursday, August 14, 2025

Called the sun!

And the amazing

AMAZING!

Light!

I love the glow of light just at the break in the horizon

Or spilling through the cracks in the clouds

The reddish glow through the horrid smoke

Ahhh

How the sun makes the clouds beautiful!

Bringing life to everything and everyone upon the earth.

The Turn in the Air is Starting —- Wednesday, August 14, 2024

There is a small window of time in August when you can feel the ending of Summer

A stillness —- a time of mellow quiet

I felt it last night.  A promise of over-the-top heat ending and the mellow ripeness of Autumn coming.

A Turn is starting to occur.  We may still have some heat, but not like before, for not as long.

Not for long.

A Common Thing, which to me, is Miraculous—Monday, August 14, 2023

This Mourning Dove watched me take out my camera—always watching as I snapped away, while it whirled through the air.

Eerily wonderful!

What a gift!

I yelled, “THANK YOU!” as it eagerly left!

Sherlock Boomer—-What Mom Doesn’t Know Chapter Eight, Friday, August 14, 2020

Chapter Eight

Off Mom (and Dad)  and I went on the four-wheeler…. time to change the water.

Mom sat me down.

I hung around for a time, watching Mom.

Pretty soon Mom was caught up in digging and shoveling and—you know, Stuff.

So Off I went.

Heck, there are things to see and stuff to learn about out on the farm, hanging with Mom and Dad is rather BORING!

I snuffled and sniffed my way over to WAIT!

“Hey, Hi, Stanley!

Stanley stopped munching on the peanuts Mom puts out for him.

“Hey, Boomer! Long time no see!”

I just started to make myself comfortable when Stanley came to attention, then suddenly jumped down; ZOOM he was gone.

I wonder what scared him.

Nothing happening out here, but a flock of corn birds flying around.

I looked up just then

and saw HAWK!

OH! That’s enough to scare anyone!

Just about that time I heard Mom hollering for me… “BOOMER LET’S GO!”

Okay.

Time to go.

I trotted back to Mom. She picked me up and sat me right back down on my comfy spot on the four-wheeler.

“Forward we go, Mom!” I yipped.

Forward we go!

In Need of a Tiny Miracle—-Wednesday, August 14, 2019

(From Pinterest)

We had a wee project to accomplish, which took us to Paonia, Colorado, after lunch yesterday.

The first thing that greeted us a few miles out of Delta, was CONSTRUCTION!

The lines went on and on…those stopped and the line we were in.

Courage was required.  As the shadows slanted and grew long.

But the Gods were with us, we only had to wait for five minutes, and only when we started back toward Delta.

What a nightmare that would be, if you had to travel to-and-fro for work!

The Sky Drained of Color —- Tuesday, August 14, 2018

The sky filled with smoke more than ever before yesterday.

Leaving not a smidge of blue sky anywhere

Tendrils of smoke wafted around our heads, in our eyes, and settled upon our skin

The whole sky had a grey sheen to it

The air smelled of forests burning,

the taste of wood ash on our tongues

the smoke lay heavy although smoke itself is not heavy

It might as well be

It comes in such a volume it weights on all lungs — human, animal, bugs, and plants

That breathing is a stress upon itself.

Gradually the sun turned the sky to pink and the smoke turned the sun red

As the western side of the United States continues to burn.

That Wonderful Light and Hollow Feeling—Monday, August 14, 2017

Way back in June I sat about making a couple of Hummingbird swings….

I hung them and waited…and waited…and waited…then last night

As the sun faded quickly from the heavens, and the night air scented with the smell of Four O’clocks and sweet Lilies

Several of those tiny flying jewels tried out the swing!!!

I WAS DELIGHTED!  (to say the least 🙂 )

Then while I watched and waited, for that perfect photo, of a hummingbird on a swing…a little wasp decided to see what all the fuss was about.  I had to laugh-out-loud as the joy that little swing has brought, not just to me, but those creatures living in our yard!
