The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-Little Mesa Fire, Friday, August 19, 2023

That is the fire!  Scary isn’t it?

We don’t like the fire. Or the horrible smoke from the fire.

The fire report says it has grown to —-way over 3,000 acres

And still growing.

On purpose!!!

Scary stuff.

The Adventures of TLC Cai-Cai and Boo Berry —SCATTER— Chapter Four, Friday, August 19, 2022

“OH!”

“HELP!”

“MOM!”

“HELP!”

“BOO Berry Betty”, Mom yelled,

“Come help me put the chickens away,”

“OKAY, MOM!”

Teeee heee, chuckle, snort!

A Kindness Accepted then Gifted a New Home —Thursday, August 19, 2021

The Blue Skies came back…Blue Skies in the middle of the sky, which was ever so lovely

The conditioner on the swather broke–the conditioner is where the cut alfalfa is rolled up to crip the stems (so they can dry) and then gathered together to lay in lovely neat rows for the baler.

So, I was helping Terry move the conditioner to the shop where he could repair it

when I looked down and saw a rock the tractor just drove over.

It was a HEART!  The tractor broke it! Sometimes the load is just too heavy, even for a rock.

It is now home in my Rock Garden, put together (sorta) resting with all the hearts I have living there.

Unease Swaddles the Land — Wednesday, August 19, 2020

There are four HUGE fires burning in Colorado right now.

Map four large wildfires Colorado

https://wildfiretoday.com/2020/08/15/four-large-wildfires-keep-firefighters-in-colorado-busy/

https://www.cpr.org/2020/08/15/colorado-wildfire-updates-2020-evacuations-closures-size/

The smoke is settling everywhere

Clinging thick; swathing the world in a horrid shroud of death and destruction

Oppressive

Abundant

(this is the sun about 4:00 p.m.)

wearily blurring the eyes and burning the lungs

The smoke speaks volumes of what the firefighters are experiencing

And all living creatures caught in the path of the fires

And the poor trees, bushes, and other plants succumbing to the passion of the flames.

Then about 4 o’clock yesterday our local newspaper reported The Mille Creek Fire near Gunnison, Colorado

Our world is sagging with the fires and the other-the-top heat (103*f —39.44c) plus the dry lightning.

More Signs of Fall Heading Our Way — Monday, August 19, 2019

(From Pinterest)

I honestly have a very simple life.

It is made up of very uncomplicated things

(Photo by our daughter, Shannon, with her phone)

Nature and the process of living within nature and (I know some will be surprised by this) working with nature.

For you honestly can not farm if you set out to ‘do it your way’ instead of the way nature wants it.

So, just for information only, here is another sign of the turning of summer into autumn…the corn birds.

They come in huge flocks eating the pollen and bugs from off the tassels of the corn.  This doesn’t hurt the corn, the ears are made and are now ripening.

(Photo from my archives)

The Crows and the Ravens are starting to return.  We hear them calling in the trees and see them as they fly, on great black wings, over the farmyard and crops.

The days are growing shorter; the sun setting by 8:00 p.m.

Still, the earth is warm, it hasn’t grown weary of summer (yet).  The days are bright, with the nights cooling down to nice sleeping temperature.

There is still time.

To enjoy the gift of summer!

From my heart to your world,

Linda

In the Early Morning Light—-Sunday, August 19, 2018

In the very early morning light, after the first set of water…there is usually a load of hay to load out…

Early before the heat of the day rises to swallow all in its rugged grip.

Since we only had the one load yesterday, Terry wanted to take a little trip to Gunnison, Colorado to visit a huge car show they had going on

Off we went getting there close to noon.

We saw around 268 different cars, trucks, and rat rods.  Everything from a few hundred dollars in value to over six figures!  They came from all around the state of Colorado and even a few as far away as Texas.

It was lots of fun…seeing old friends and new friends and getting ideas for Terry’s own cars.

And for me…I saw this delightful happy little dog and her Dad.  I asked if I could get a photo and the answer was yes.

Sunglasses and big smiles all around.

We stayed until the end.

Drove home to change water and have supper at one of our daughter’s house, where our son-in-law is an outstanding chef.

A wee break in our daily work.

Drive-LinkinAll the things she got to do at the farm

HEYWe are packing up, to drive her to meet her Mom at Rifle, Colorado.

Half way for both of us.  There we will unload our car and load up Misty’s van. Sadly, we must say good-bye for a spell.

Saying good-bye is never easy.

So Far So Good and a Guest Post—Tuesday, August 19, 2014

MoreThe sleep-over part of the sleep-over went well.  After lots and lots of running and playing.

Linky and her BFF, Ellie, practiced their archery off and on all afternoon and evening—everyone settled down around 10:00 p.m.  (I know that’s late, but it is the last week of Summer, and they are at Grammy’s and heck…why not ?! 🙂 )

By mid-night we heard not a sound.  I crept slowly upstairs to see what might be going on…playing on IPads…?  Sleeping?

Moon-5

Sleeping.Getting-dryThe pinto beans are on their last water of the season.  The pods are getting dry, which means the beans have reached their full size.  This last water will help the beans finish filling out.

Then we wait until all the leaves dry up.  Once that happens it will be time…pinto bean harvest will begin.

My Guest today is Red Door Coop.  She sent me a double rainbow which occurred in July! Alli is also from Colorado, but she lives on ‘the other side of the mountains’…the eastern slope of Colorado.  Drop over and give her a comment, if you have time!
