A Few Magic Storms Arrived — Wednesday, July 15, 2020

If I could choose one single moment to live inside for all eternity, it would be that.  Fredrik Backman, Things My Son Needs to Know about the World

Monday we had storms, off and on all-day

Off and on the rain would blow in, falling in heavy coin-sized drops, then moving on; the ground staying mostly dry.

Our busy days of work continued

Completing one chore

After another

Then the skies would clear and I would think…”I guess that is the end of the storms.”

Back again they would blow in.

But the ending…OH MY, THE ENDING of the DAY!

Was STUNNING!

Complete with the most unusual and delightful Rainbow!

Which grew darker and more red as the night crept onto the land!

WOW!  I kept saying to myself. WOW!  This is an amazing gift from the Heavens!

From my world to your heart,

Linda

A Gift from North Eastern Illinois —- Sunday, July 5, 2020

When the world has these, who requires much more?

Good morning, Linda.  It’s been a while since I’ve said hello.  So Hello!

(That was from this past Monday.)

I hope this brightens your day.

Take care.

What a perfect way to start anyone’s day!

Thank you ever so much!

I Sometimes Wonder — Tuesday, June 30, 2020

It’s been hot here of late, hot with a hot wind; a hot continuous wind

But that is not what I have been wondering about

I’ve been wondering about our world,

And for sure the crazy, frenzied, over-the-top actions going on in our nation

The anger, the destruction, the need to —- ?

Makes me think we are repeating a very old theme in history—

(This is the moon 🙂 )

That theme of gain and cost.  The desire to broaden command over valuable resources

at which (at the very same time) those same resources we are all absolutely reliant on as essentials.

I hope we have (not) now entered a time of unstoppable cultural fracturing.

I often think of Liebig’s law, of the ‘law of the minimum”

Which is deceptively simple: our limits are set, not by the maximum of necessary things, but by the minimum which is available.

Just a short trip the grocery store points that out to me in glaring shards of light

It’s thought-provoking

While I ponder this in an off and on manner.  Saturday evening we had rain

No matter how tight vital supplies are, how hard they are to get, how expensive they are to purchase — and how angry and over-the-top destructive things become—-there is always hope!

From my heart to your world,

Linda

P.S.  Please don’t write to me scathing comments about how wrong I am and I need to get my head out of the sand, or other mean things. Ugly never produces positive feelings. Therefore, I won’t approve your comment for I do like to live my life in hope.

Hugs to each and every one of you!

Walking in a Fairy Tale World —- Monday, June 1, 2020

The heat has been like a hammer the last several days…

Still, the evening’s have been soft and lovely

But what has been the best thing

Right out our back door

Covering our whole farm…

A PERFECT double Rainbow!

WOW!

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The Sun, the Rain, and a Healing — I Hope — Tuesday, May 19, 2020

I must admit, that I have had fear for Boomer’s life riding in waves through my heart

I KNOW he is elderly and the time is growing short, but…

Still…then after beseeching the heavens and My God and Your God and the God of all this world,

I knew I could move forward, because of the medication, Boomer’s will to live, and the fact I asked for the power of collective prayer—peace filled my heart.

Opening my email, another glorious rainbow, from the Black Forest in Colorado…shouted—

Hope!

Thank you, each and every one!

Linda

Flames Along the Ridge —-Monday, March 30, 2020

Terry and I were out working in the alfalfa field, he was marking out the field

Beaglie and I were setting out the siphon tubes

Boomer has decided that his work now is to just stay on the four-wheeler.

My little dog is getting old.  Rather sad.

When I noticed HUGE flames soaring high at the end of our farm

Then I saw Terry getting off the tractor and heading to the edge of one of our hills.

By the time Boomer and I made it to the rocky point the fire was out…but O! MY! Was that every scary!

Fire is a most frightening thing!  Frightening!

Back home I opened my email and there waiting for me (and for you)

All the way from Australia was a rainbow! “This morning, walking Mouse, I saw this and thought of you 🙂🌈

WOW!  A perfect sign of Hope!

From my world to your heart,

There (in Solitary) Located in a Storm Cloud—-Sunday, January 5, 2020

I opened my email the other day to find a gift to me from Senior Hiker

The bright promise of an amazing rainbow, within the middle of a sun crested storm cloud.

WOW!

Thank you so much, Senior. Hiker!  This is outstanding!

Together in the Wind —-Thursday, October 3, 2019

(From Pinterest)

Off we went, in the chill cool wind of late evening

Where we saw a rainbow playing around on the Grand Mesa foothills

The sunset was lovely

We stood on the ditch bank and just enjoyed being together out on the land.

Water- Gladness to the Heart, the Land, and to Our Eyes — Sunday, September 15, 2019

Our daughter, Kimberly, and son-in-law, Cliff had never been to the East Portal of the Black Canyon so last Sunday Terry and I gathered them up and drove to see where our irrigation water begins.

The Diversion tunnel took ten years to complete, in awful conditions with very basic tools and the technology in the years 1899-1909

Everyone is always amazed at the road just getting to the bottom of the canyon, which is pretty much the road the team and wagons traveled way back when. (It’s a tad scary, just so you know)

The engineering was stunning in the fact the tunnel is almost 6 miles long, through solid rock and soft unstable ground meeting within inches in the middle. The town of LaJane (no longer here) was on the end with the soft soil. (LaJane is pronounced Lu-wan)

Besides the amazing undertaking to get the irrigation water from the Black Canyon to the farm grounds in Montrose and Delta

The views and the history of the canyon are astounding.

The management of the Diversion Tunnel and the water that flows through it is by the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users

One of the ditch riders and his family live in the house in the canyon. He takes care of the dam, the water flow, and other specialized requirements.

The sound of roaring water, the magnificent black walls

Made for a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Then to round out the fullness of the day, we saw a Rainbow!

In Spite of Myself—Wednesday, August 7, 2019

(From Pinterest)

After I made my post yesterday, in full intentions of painting the back porch

I, instead, decided to wash all the windows in the house

Then, of course, I decided I would weed.  Just one garden room,

maybe two

By that time I needed to start lunch

Well, it was close enough anyway.

Then after lunch…I had no more excuses…I began.

In a windless hot part of the day I began.  How silly of me.  But by the time I had the walls started and I saw the difference my heart lifted up and I had all sorts of energy to continue.

I am so glad I finally started!  The room is taking shape.  Today I will do the trim and Terry is going to lay a new floor (which is needed desperately), then I will wash down the outside door.

I’m so glad I began!  And my shoulder did NOT hurt at all last night!  YAY!

In a couple of days, I will tackle the bathroom!
