Off on an Adventure Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten

While I was sleeping, I dreamed of MOM!

  Mom and I doing things.

You know just stuff.

I also dreamed of barking the mailman down the long lane

and baying at the UPS driver.

I even dreamed that Mom took me to that big friendly to dogs store and let me sniff around while she did some shopping.

That dream woke me up with a start.

I MISS MOM! I thought.

Here I am way over here and Mom is somewhere way over there.

WHY did I think I wanted to go on an adventure in 90*+ weather, coyotes loose on the farm and me in an elderly stage of life?

WHY?

As I was sitting there in the shade Harry the Hawk came coasting by. I just watched him.

I sorta, kinda, don’t really like Harry.  He likes to eat my friends or potential friends.  I really didn’t want Harry to see me…who knows he might want to eat a really sweet, fat, wonderful, old beagle.

I scooted back under the brush a little further.

Harry flew on.

Good!

About that time I noticed we were experiencing raindrops!

YAY!

Raindrops are good.  Cools down the earth and the sky.

Looking around I spied a RAINBOW!

Yippee! I shouted. Bouncing right out from under my bush and bounded over by the equipment, “A RAINBOW!” I bayed

“A RAINBOW!”

“I like rainbows, also. Beagle dog!” a tiny little voice called to me.

Turning around I saw a member of Chip’s family.  “Hey! I haven’t seen you before.  Are you new here?” I asked.

“Well, kinda new.  I’ve been living with my Mom and three siblings. Mom told us we could all go out and play now.  We didn’t have to stay inside with her all the time.”

“Pleased to meet you….” I paused.  “Ur, umm…I don’t think I know your name.  I’m Boomer and you are?”

“Beatrice—Mom says the name means Bringer of Joy in our language.”

“Well, now, isn’t that just perfect.  All things are starting to look up…I met you, the Bringer of Joy and I saw a rainbow.”

Beatrice gave me a huge smile, “I have to go now, Boomer Beagle Dog, it’s starting to get night and Mom told me I had to be back in the nest before dark.  She said danger lurked out of the nest in the dark.”

With that, she flicked her tail at me and was gone.

Hum.  I slept for a long time, I mused.

Dark.  I’m not looking forward to another night out here, but I guess I slept way too long today and here I am.

In the darkening evening.

BUT

I Saw a RAINBOW and I Met Beatrice.  Things are looking up!

I trotted down to the little creek and got a good drink of water, then put one paw in front of the other to head myself home.

Be Open to Your God —- Monday, May 20, 2019

Every minute, every moment, every second of your life

Be open to your God,

If you are open your God will be there.

You will always receive an answer

Even answers you don’t want to receive

But if you never ask for an answer

or look to see if your God is with you

Then the God(s) cannot answer you, lead you, or be there for you

But, O! My!

When your God(s) answers

It is so wonderful and terrifying

(Rainbow a gift from my daughter Shannon to me, and now to you)

It is like having wings lift you up into Glory!

From my world to your heart,

Linda

In the Silence of the Air —- Sunday, May 5, 2019

Our air is full of the scent of the Lilacs

Rich and sweet and lush all at the same moment

All three of my bushes are in bloom fluttering gently in the soft spring breezes

How very blessed we are, for it’s been several years since we have had blooms

Thankfully not this year.

Another glorious gift from the sky arrived in my message box on FaceBook

A most beautiful double rainbow spanning Vadarae’s cotton fields in Texas.  A most delightful sight!  Glorious to behold!

Thank you, Vadarae!  A rainbow from you, now for all of us!

From my heart to your world,

Linda

Undulating Waves of Light —- Monday, March 25, 2019

It’ has rained every day since Friday

The morning sun struggled to break through the thick clouds; color skimming over the tops of the Paonia mountains and under the massive drizzling thick, heavy clouds

Then last night, the sun broke through, making everything bright and dazzling

And I saw in the northeast

A rainbow, filling my beating heart with quiet happiness

Today the sun is shining it all it’s splendor, with a taste of warmth in the air!

From my heart to your world,

Linda

I Know, I Know, BUT—–Monday, February 4, 2019

END TO END!!!

Then last evening the sky looked like THIS

Beautiful and peaceful and just right lovely!

The Wheel of the Year Turns—Monday, October 15, 2018

Summer has ended, so has early fall

The plants are all gone…not just nipped, but finished

No more glimmering colors of brightness, no spicy and floral scents on the breeze

The air is now sharp with cold and the sky scudding with wind-blown grey clouds

The seasons have turned—

Jack Frost our visitor

Still, I am thinking there will be a few more rainbows before the snow clouds arrive.  After they come I will watch for Sundogs; beautiful colors of ice in the sky!

Only the Rain Falling is the Constant Sound —-Monday, October 8, 2018

It’s been raining for days and days…and nights and nights

But with the rain, there are bursts of color which pummels the dark sky with joy

The sun breaks through the heavy clouds

Freshening the sky and our eyes

From my world to your hearts,

Linda

Promise Me, Please, You Will Stop and Enjoy Just Today—-Sunday, September 30, 2018

In this world of many wonders, the God(s) send brilliant blessings, which we can not see if we don’t stop and look.

My email had this marvelous message:
” Hi, Linda.
A strong and fast storm blew through late afternoon today, knocking down limbs throughout the area. It moved west to east, with the setting sun breaking out on the horizon right as the downpour ended.

You know what that means:

And just a few moments before, this was sitting atop our roof:

By its tail feathers, it looked to be a Cooper’s Hawk.

Hoping you get some good rain – and soon.

Thanks. Take care.

Joe

This day, this wonderous day is the only one you have until you wake up the next morning.

Thank you, Joe!

May each one of you have a day full of glowing sunlight!

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

There in the Sky Simple and Definite—-Thursday, September 20, 2018

We had thick heavy clouds all day yesterday, threatening rain, but none fell right here

Then as the sun was starting to set the whole sky lite up in a lighthearted affair…the sun striking the clouds in a golden shower of color.

The slanting rays sending out streaks of light blazing the underneath of the heavy hanging clouds with a brilliant glow of gold, and orange, and pink, and purple…

The color echoing throughout the sky and on the land, making plants, soil, buildings, even Terry and Boomer, Mindy, and I thick with the beautiful light

Then there in the southern sky was a blazing sign glittering and trembling in the liquid gold of air.

A crescendo ending to a grey and storm filled day!

From my heart to your world,

Linda

Sometimes I See My Momma—Thursday, September 13, 2018

Sometimes (lately) I see my Momma.  It always comes as shock.

At a time when I least expect to see her.

Sometimes it’s just her voice I hear, but it’s loud and clear…like the time I was getting ready to open one of the shed doors and she said, very strongly, like she was standing right next to me: “Linda, Be aware!  Pay Attention”!

It was so strong, so loud, so real, I even answered her—“Of what, Momma?”

As I turned toward her voice—of course, she wasn’t there.

Momma died in 2000.

Or I’m washing my face, or my hair and I look up into the mirror over the bathroom sink and I see Momma…right there her smiling face covering my face, then it fades.

It always startles me.  Then I think, it must be that  I am looking more and more like Momma.

Or I’m doing something, peeling potatoes, washing up the dishes, scrubbing the floors on my hands and knees as my arm and hand move back and forth I suddenly see Momma’s hand(s) as she did those things I am now doing.

It’s rather shocking because my hands have dented and bent knuckles…one caused by a hit from a basketball when I was in high school…Momma’s hand never had knuckles like mine.

Another time I was walking out to the hen house and I could have sworn I saw Momma coming down the long, long lane toward me. I almost ran toward her, then the strange apparition was gone.

Faded away. As if it had never been.

I can’t explain these visions or feelings, or things heard; they are like wind blowing through the treetops, the changing lights in the smiling sky…but last night as I lay down to sleep, I felt Momma kiss my forehead just like she used to do when I was a small child.

Thank you, Momma, I love you too!

From my world to your heart,

Linda
